Different Stories Resonate with Different People
I will always reblog this.
I once spent three hours scouring the internet to find this comic again, I will not let that be repeated.
Can you make a tutorial or give advice on how to make people look different races? i.e. Asian, white, black etc.
i currently don’t have the time (or the expertise) to make any tutorials of that magnitude, but there is a great guide on deviantart that i could find for you if i rummage around (i’m sure my followers have a link, too)
and since i did a short tutorial of how i draw my eyes i can put up another short tutorial of drawing epicanthic folds (since the last one i drew was for eyes without epicanthic folds)
Here is the rough animation of the brushing teeth shot. It ended up a quite complex movement so I needed some chart for help.

How to Draw Native People: a Tutorial/Reference Guide
As requested, here is a basic guide for how to draw Indigenous peoples (mostly focused on North America)! Also please note that this is not an exhaustive list of Native American phenotypes/features, and more like an intro on very common features that can be found in us, and even then, not altogether at once on a single person’s face. I highly encourage the use of references and care taken into research when drawing. I may do a part 2 that goes slightly more into depth, but for now, enjoy part one.
Resouces:
How to draw Native Skin tutorial (don’t draw us red!)
List of Native American Celebrities, which include their tribe(s) and home country, with 1,250 names, to use for your referencing pleasure
How to draw black people by Peachdeluxe, & Black hair in depth by misslaney for mixed black Natives
How to draw East Asian People, a guide by Chuwenjie, for mixed Asian Natives AND because it includes a lovely tutorial on monolid eyes, a shared feature of Native people
get drawin!!
Here’s a little bit of info on four of the most common types of scars! On the artistic side of things, it’s important to note that almost all scars aren’t perfect little white lines. They can be dark, and commonly messy.

@ghosthikikomon on Twitter:
I’m so pissed that Adobe is hiking the Creative Cloud price (AGAIN) that I did a round-up of FREE ALTERNATIVES to all the major CC programs. Because FUCK Adobe:
IF YOU DRAW OR DESIGN
Instead of PHOTOSHOP, try GIMP
Instead of LIGHTROOM, try PAINT DOT NET
Instead of ILLUSTRATOR, try INKSCAPE
Instead of INDESIGN try CANVA or SCRIBUS
IF YOU MAKE PICTURES MOVE
Instead of PREMIER, try DAVINCI RESOLVE
Instead of ANIMATE/FLASH, try OPENTOONS or BLENDER
Instead of AFTER EFFECTS, try WAX, BLENDER, or FUSION
IF YOU BUILD WEBSITES OR SOFTWARE
Instead of DREAMWEAVER, SPARK, or XD, try WIX, WEEBLY, or WORDPRESS.COM, or WORDPRESS.ORG
IF YOU DO STUFF THAT REQUIRES THESE OTHER PROGRAMS
Instead of AUDITION, try AUDACITY
Instead of ACROBAT PRO try FOXIT READER or PDF ESCAPE
Instead of INCOPY try LOVING YOURSELF AND USING LITERALLY ANYTHING ELSE (WHO USES THIS??)
IF YOU NEED STOCK PHOTOS OR FONTS
Instead of ADOBE STOCK, try PEXELS, UNSPLASH, or PIXABAY
Instead of ADOBE FONTS try GOOGLE FONTS or DAFONT
BONUS: If you need FREE MUSIC OR SOUND EFFECTS try YOUTUBE AUDIO LIBRARY or SOUNDBIBLE
@ocoree
If you’re tired of Adobe Audition and want to do audio editing I’d suggest switching to Reaper. It’s a one-time pay of $60 and you can try it for two months for free before buying.
gotta also recommend Clip Studio Paint for making art, it is cheaper, better, and more versatile than photoshop

TO THOSE MAKING NATIVE OCS
I see this a lot, no one has actual names, or any reference for names, that are legit Native American, varying among the tribes, for their characters.
Babynames.com and shit like that will give you names made up by white people.
However, I’ve got your solution.
Native-Languages is a good website to turn to for knowledge on a lot of native things, including native names. If you’re unsure about the names you’ve picked, they even have a list of made up names here!
Please don’t trust names like babynames.com for native names, they’re made up and often quite offensive to the cultures themselves.
