my name is juno. my pronouns are she/it/xe. im not exactly a lesbian, but im close enough that thats what i tell people irl, so whatever. im not quite a femme or a butch but im one of the two

im also some flavor of trans. it would be somewhat correct to call me a woman, more correct to call me agender, and pretty much bang on the money to call me librafeminine but no one knows what the hell that is. i use she/it/xe pronouns and if you use my neopronouns or it/its ill love you forever.

I kept forgetting my nighttime antidepressant so I set an alarm where the sound was a recording of me saying "HEY. TAKE YOUR FUCKING PILL" because I thought it would be funny. It was funny about three times, and then it started making me mad and I'd dismiss it right away to make it stop. So I handed my phone to my partner, who made another recording sweetly saying "Okay Shira, it's time to take your medication" and now I don't get mad anymore and I take my pill. "Masculinity is always rewarded in society!!" In the 1900s, women could get lobotomized for anything that was deemed as "masculine behaviour", you dared to even wear pants? lobotomy. In many of these cases doctors recognized that lobotomies would result in either the woman dying or becoming a vegetable, enough that they would be refered to as "a veritable household pet". Lobotomies were done for multiple reasons, but one of them was for being masculine.

If by "rewarded" you mean "getting your entire functions reduced to nothing because you were forced to recieve a nail through your eye to destroy your frontal lobe and most likely dying in the process" then yes, masculinity is "rewarded"

transmascs experience transmisogyny. its the particular brand of misogyny that they experience as society brands them as "misled WOMEN." and transfems experience transandrophobia too. its the particular brand of misandry that they experience when society brands them as "MEN."

On a slightly relevant note, I really don't vibe with how some people (on either side of the discourse) reframe the conversation on trans sexual assault statistics as "[it is said that] trans men are most sexually assaulted".

It's nonbinary people. Most specifically, nonbinary people who were assigned female at birth. According to most reports, nonbinariness adds a very prominent factor to victimization rates, not only sexual victimization.

I understand how that conflation happens, people are grouping nonbinary people afab under "transmasculine", but we really should not be doing that.

There's also a less benign explanation, where binary trans people tend to think of nonbinary ones as cis lite, incapable of being properly affected by transphobia.

The point I was making is that nonbinary people seem to be more at risk of victimization than binary trans people both overall and when comparing within the same agab. I chose to mention agab because there exists a stereotype of "theyfabs" (as in, afab nonbinary people) who don't experience anything bad whatsoever.
