Something being nasty is not a good reason to ban fiction about it.
If we accept that "something being nasty is a good reason to bad fiction about it" then we give a foot in the door for all the people who truly, genuinely believe that queer people are nasty to ban all queer literature.
This is not about defending bad people this is about defending the freedom of good people from tyranny, you moron.
I think if you take it to its logical extreme. Say, banning people from writing stories of sexual abuse. That could then be said "well ANY talk about sexual abuse is bad."
And from that, you could ban books that talk about it irl. Or books like how to recover after being abuse. If its not something to be discussed AT ALL.

Remember how a bunch of people had their accounts terminated here only last year for writing about their own sexual abuse?
When you ban “pedo” topics, say, any talk of child sexual abuse in any form, that means people can no longer write about their own experiences. It means people cannot educate others so they can learn how to protect themselves or get help from these situations.
Censorship is authoritarian. Full stop.
Even if “everyone” agrees something is “gross” and “shouldn’t exist,” that does not fucking matter.
Do you know who generally believes queer people are gross and shouldn’t exist??
The same people who are banning books left and right solely because they have queer characters or relationships.

Protecting freedom of expression is essential, and if you do not get that, I don’t know what to say to you.
And the people who keep bringing up child sex abuse as a reason for censorship are doing it very specifically because everyone feels like then they HAVE to agree with the person in favor of censorship.
It’s not that there isn’t widespread societal agreement on this. It’s that they want you backed into a rhetorical corner where you feel compelled to agree with them.
Also, like, we KNOW how this shit shakes out in fandom because it's happened before.
In 2007, Livejournal capitulated to the "pedophilia and sex crimes!" cries of (hate group) Warriors 4 Innocence, and you know what communities got shut down? Slashfic communities. Sexual assault survivor support communities. Authors who'd written non-smut m/m fic even got caught up in it. It was DEVASTATING to fandom spaces. I think pretty much everyone knew at least one person whose account was literally DELETED, or were a member of a community that was wiped off the map because they were considerate enough to include topics like "sexual assault" or "BDSM" in the profiles under the badly-named category of "interests" to indicate that posts on said blogs or communities may include discussion of things like that. Even if it was for a SUPPORT group. And it was because a group of religious bigots came to LJ and said essentially "EVERYONE thinks it's gross and that it's promoting CSA, we should ban it."
Like, strikethrough and boldthrough were a large part of what propelled AO3 out of a more unfocused conversation on one person's blog about hosting a site INTENDED for fandom content, into being an actual archive and nonprofit. And it's a large part of why you won't find AO3 banning topics that you find "gross".
Censorship is authoritarian and it will ALWAYS have more collateral damage than you can imagine.
Going to add that fiction which had sexual abuse and communities which played around with it as a writing topic are the very things that protected me from irl sexual abuse when I was a teenager.
I was in a dicey situation, and realized that while my situation did not match up to any of the superficial or textbook cases mentioned in passing (if at all) through school, it matched up a LOT to what I'd learned about irl sexual abuse through works of fiction and the rhetoric of my communities. I got out of that situation and dodged what was, in retrospect, one hell of a nasty bullet.
If it hadn't been for that "nasty" fiction and those "nasty" communities, I would very likely have been abused, and subject to further violence spiraling out from that abuse.
I had a friend. We were 12. We had just discovered fanfiction and were obsessed. We read anything and everything we could get our hands on. One of the stories we read was a "pedo fic." It exposed us to scenarios and language that hadn't ever been touched on in Sex Ed at school or with our parents. To be frank, it "corrupted our young minds with topics we shouldn't have to deal with." It also gave my friend words to finally describe why her neighbor creeped her out so much. "He's creepy and weird" gets a 12 year old scolded and lectured on being nicer. "He's a sexual predator" gets adults asking questions and involving the cops. Her neighbor "moved away."
Censorship is pro-pedo and anti-child-safety. There is no communicating what's wrong if there are no words to describe what's happening. Bad things will happen whether you have the words to ask for help or not. Censorship takes those words away.
"I don't think anyone should be allowed to read or write this because it is disgusting to me" is authoritarian.

People who think Shakespeare wasn’t actually Shakespeare, but that ‘Shakespeare’ was a secret pseudonym for someone more important and better educated, like the Earl of Oxford.
I feel like I have to address this. I tried not to, but I actually think it’s really important. Most of the people who make the argument that ‘Shakespeare wasn’t Shakespeare’ are doing so on the basis that the real William Shakespeare of Stratford-upon-Avon simply didn’t have the literary wherewithal to have written what are now the most famous plays in the English (or possibly any) language. They like to argue that because Shakespeare’s family wasn’t particularly wealthy or influential, and that he never got more than the Elizabethan equivalent of a grade school education, he couldn’t possibly be as well-read or as eloquent as the person who wrote Hamlet, or Macbeth, or what have you.
The reason Stratfordians are so vehemently defensive of Shakespeare as himself is because (a) there’s literally no proof that he wasn’t exactly who we think he was and (b) we believe that it’s entirely possible that a man who was nominally ordinary became the world’s most famous playwright. If you take that away from him, you are doing the world a huge disservice, by reinforcing the idea that in order to have a significant impact on the course of history, you have to be wealthy or politically powerful or socially superior. I for one want to be able to tell any struggling middle school kid with average grades not to give up, because passion is more important than money or power, and he or she could be the next Shakespeare.
Yes. All of this. The Oxfordian authorship theory is rooted in classist, elitist attitudes that insist that a glovemaker’s son from Stratford-on-Avon who never left England couldn’t possibly have written 37 plays based simply on extensive reading and a great deal of imagination.
Also they have no conception of what “grammar school” actually means. A grammar school education in the sixteenth century usually included extensive study of rhetoric, philosophy, and history. Ben Jonson claimed that Shakespeare’s Latin was mediocre and his Greek nonexistent, but there were a wide variety of classical texts available in English translation during his lifetime and we can clearly see echoes of those translations in Shakespeare’s works.
Lastly, the Oxfordian theory is rooted in an 18th century forgery popularized by a man named Looney (pronounced Loh-ney, but WHATEVER). The best book I’ve seen on the subject is Contested Will by James Shapiro, which is marvellous and snarky and everyone should read it.
It’s the exact same logic that tries to discredit Mary Shelley as the author of Frankentstein, because a particular school of (white, upper class, male) critical thought can’t stand the idea that an eighteen year old girl could have written something so profound that it founded an entirely new literary genre.
They don’t like being confronted with the fact that great art is not the preserve of the ruling class.
Also, here’s another reason it matters: Shakespeare populated his plays with characters from all the social strata, from prostitutes to monarchs, and everyone in between.
The view of such people, their attitudes and foibles looks a lot different when you’re looking at them from the same level than if you’re looking down at them from above, with only a vague, abstract, view of what their lives are like.
Therefore, knowing that Shakespeare had come from “common” origins and worked his way into the patronage of King James by the time he retired, gives us a different understanding of his plays, and the history of the time and place in which he wrote them.

Reggie knew that winter was coming. For sure, he did. But that didn't mean that he wouldn't have been impatiently waiting for its arrival. Or that he hadn't started putting Christmas decorations as soon as Halloween had ended. He loved Christmas. It was an irrevocable fact that everyone who knows him - or just met him - had known right away. He loved Christmas.
Primarily because he hadn't really had the chance to enjoy one on his own as a child. His parents didn't make a lot of money, and his mother made sure he knew that Santa didn't exist, so he wouldn’t be devastated if he didn’t receive what he wanted or any present at all. Reg had run to his father crying, and he asked him, tried to ask, with strange words, all the while sniffing, bawling, and trying to breathe while talking and crying. They fought until the day after New Year's Eve.
They also fought the next Christmas; this time because the tree wasn't good enough. The year after that, too. Well, Christmas was anything but enjoyable. He actually hated Christmas. And he didn't even enjoy the gift-giving either because they would fight (not good enough gifts, too expensive or something), and he wouldn’t get what he wanted or any present.
Then, he met Luke, Alex, and Bobby and Christmas became something great! Something that made him enjoy Christmas.
However, this year's Christmas was special. Luke, Alex, and he had left their homes, so this was the first Christmas they had together. Luke had left that same year, while he and Alex did it between the end of last year and the start of that year. It was the same thing in the end. Bobby's parents were nice enough to let the cook give them food. The cook was also an angel and send them eggnog, Yule log cake, and so much more, like brownies. Bobby's cook was a delight and Reg loved her. She also was delightful and give him advice about cooking if he asked. And even if he didn't.
This year, Christmas was going to be the best and for that, Reggie had an idea. He had help from Alex, so it was in no way a dumb idea. They made a special Advent Calendar for Luke since it was approaching his mother's birthday. And instead of only chocolates, they added sweet, corny, cheesy messages in it and some quotes from singers he liked the most.
Reggie wanted, mostly, to do it to make Luke happy because he knows how much Christmas meant to him and his family and because he was gone during the holiday, so he couldn't really enjoy it. And, to Reggie, he deserved to have the best Christmas.
Alex and Reggie had the idea, and Bobby helped too. He built the Calendar, the doors and give some decoration ideas, he also added small decorations inside the boxes, as gifts. Alex wrote the messages and the quotes, he also found the best chocolates that would last long and wrapped them neatly, and he organized the calendar. Reg found the quotes and messages, checked the Chocolates (because who better than him to try and rate the chocolates), and helped with the overall appearance. Reggie also had the mission of shifting Luke's attention from them, and keeping him occupied somewhere.
They painted the calendar out together, with Reggie's suggestion. He made each little box/day be named after one of Luke's songs. The 19th, being Emily's birthday, was called Unsaid Emily. It was, by far, the day they took time to make perfect. The chocolate they put in it was the one Luke and Emily loved and used to eat together watching Christmas movies. The color was orange and light pink, both of their favorite colors.
They had a wonderful time doing everything while trying to be as discreet as possible, but nothing could compare to when they gifted it to Luke. They all pretended not to notice that little tear falling from his eyes as he noticed the 19th day. They had never experienced a hug like that before. The hug was long, a little uncomfortable since they were all bundled into Luke's arm. But it was a perfect hug.

We interrupt our regularly scheduled aesthetic posting with a special message about the upcoming science-fiction YA novel IRON WIDOW by non-binary cosplayer, history buff, and YouTube sensation Xiran Jay Zhao (links to their website in the next post)
I have a longer, more formal “review” of this book scheduled for the release date (September 21st, 2021) but I really, really want to hype this book up as much as possible as early as possible to encourage people to pre-order it. I haven’t been this excited about a YA book in quite a while. Let me tell you why!
- It was pitched as PACIFIC RIM meets THE HANDMAID’S TALE in a world inspired by Chinese folklore and history, where boy-girl teams pilot giant mecha to fight alien monsters – but the psychic strain usually kills the girls. But only the girls….hmmm…something fishy is going on here…
- The main character is a reimagining of Wu Zetian, the only female emperor of China, who decides she’s going to assassinate the boy who murdered her older sister by volunteering to be his next co-pilot. She assassinates him so well that she kills him through their psychic link and becomes a dreaded IRON WIDOW!
- This makes her very interesting to the government, which would really prefer to make her disappear, but can’t afford to waste that kind of psychic power – so they pair her up with a ~dangerous criminal~ to pilot a new mecha, confident that he will be psychically strong enough to overpower her
- This backfires spectacularly, and suddenly Wu Zetian and her co-pilot have to manipulate both pop culture and the government just to stay alive.
- Plot ensues.
Why should you read this book?
Go back and re-read that plot summary until you understand why BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE!!
- We have a polyamorous F/M/M mutual relationship, I repeat, we PRE-EMPTIVELY SOLVE a LOVE TRIANGLE with POLYAMORY
- Wu Zetian is an amazing anti-hero and I mean that with all my heart. She is constantly doing stuff in this book that made me go, “Wait, can you do that?” She WILL cut a bitch. Also, she uses a cane or wheelchair because she has bound feet, and you can tell that Xiran really went the extra mile to think about how to portray this and how it affects the character. A lot of YA protagonists can start to feel “same-y” after a while to me, but Wu Zetian REALLY stands out.
- The world is really, really cool? There is SO MUCH going on with the aliens and the mecha and the world they’re living in which I cannot spoil except to say that your primary emotion through the third act will be “?!!!?!!?!!?!!!” AND even outside of the meta plot, there is so much thought and detail put into the rest of the setting, it is so beautiful and it feels like you’re really there. Plus every character is a reimagining/reference to a historical or folklore figure and it was really neat to go on a little scavenger hunt of “Oh! I recognize that name!”
- IRON WIDOW will do for YA sci-fi what CHILDREN OF BLOOD AND BONE did for YA fantasy – if it gets support. Xiran has talked about how they couldn’t get an American publisher to even consider publishing this book because publishers didn’t think American audiences would be interested in Chinese folklore or idol culture or a story about giant mecha, which?? Have they MET the internet?? They were also told that schools and libraries will be reluctant to stock IRON WIDOW because of the polyamorous romance. BUT that is why I really hope people show up for this book because it is SO DESERVING OF SUCCESS and it could open so many doors for other writers and for the whole YA landscape
- Xiran Jay Zhao is a really cool non-binary author and their writing is as charismatic and entertaining as their other content. I just think they’re neat!

My explanations are based on my own interpretation. Therefore, that's my point if view, feel free to disagree. Respect it and don't say it's 'wrong'. if you want to show your point of view, go on, but don't expect me to change mine, even if I had read and understand yours, I probably won't change my point of view. - This might sound harsh, sorry, but i'm sick of people that think once I understand their Point of View, mine would change to match theirs. Just no.
However, I'm sorry if my explainations sounds bad/strange. If it's the case, the reason is that I don't know how to explain those stuffs.

Hufflepuff.
What defines a Hufflepuff ?
PS : It's said that Hufflepuffs shares characteristics with the Gryffindor house. I think they share some traits with the three houses.
Hard work ; They are seen as lesser than the other three houses - it's false - so they wanted to show that being a Hufflepuff is not a bad thing or something to be ashamed of. And that they are not idiots or dofus.
Buck is a hard worker. He would work at his maximum during any call, simple or dangerous. He will try his best to save people, even if that means putting himself in danger and being severely injured and/or exhausted afterwards.
Loyalty to all fault/devotion : It doesn't mean they are loyal to all good figure. They are loyal to their families, friends, their house and themselves. That doesn't mean it's a good thing and it doesn't mean that they will not do something to hurt their loved ones. They will always do it with good intentions. They are like the Badger, fierce protectors towards their loved ones. No matter who they are.
Buck is loyal to his family, and yes he did go through the lawsuit and had hurt them in the processs, but he was hurt too, and he had his reasons. Now, let's take it from his point of view.
He have a family, the 118 (and their kids) who's the only family he have, besides Mads and he was prohibited to come back by his father figure, which had hurt him and he had seen it as a betrayal. And there's a person that came and take his spot effortlessly, while his family was moving without him. He probably had PTSD, depression and abandonment issues, but I can't be sure about that. At that time, and with everything that had accumulated in his life, he felt that it was the only thing he could do to get his family back.
He had refused Millions just to get back to the job he loves. If that's not being loyal, then I don't know what it is.
Take this from a Slytherin/Ravenclaw (with 4% Hufflepuff), I wouldn't have let go of such opportunity. My slytherin and Ravenclaw a** wouldn't have dropped they lawsuit, and if I did, I would've taken the money. I would've probably spil it with the team afterwards, but still. However, I understand exactly what he was thinking of.
Tolerance : Hufflepuffs are tolerant. No matter the gender, family, blood, social status and everything, they accepts people (unless they had hurt them and their family). They just accept them as they are and only sees them as people, no less. As a house, they tolerate and accept all the people of the other houses, all three, and talks, help and are friend with them. And even if they are not friends, they still would help. Yes, even Slytherin (but only those who accepts it, are nice or just don't bully them.) They totally will protect their Slytherin friends from the other people that will want to harm them.
I don't know about you, but the fact that Buck is so accepting of Chris since the start is extraordinary. He don't just accept him, he sees him as a little boy, a kid. Not as a kid that needs exceptional treatments and being babbied. He don't act like Chris need his help to lift a foot; he let him walk alone but would catche him when he is about to fall or would help him stand up if he does.
That's what you do with children, not just SN Kids. It's not easy to be able to do that, and I know what I'm talking about because I know someone that have a disability (I think he had CP... I didn't ask, because that's not something you should do) and my brother have Dawn Syndrom, so I know that sometimes it's hard to ballance between letting them learn on their own and helping them, but you don't just baby them. Buck is protective towards Chris, yes, but not overly protective. He is certainly as protective towards all the other kids, even if Chris is not like the other kids for him.
Not ‘only good lives’ or it's The right thing to do and it's not to show off : I honestly don't know what to name this, so, please forgive me. So, this is a major part that divides Gryffindors and Hufflepuffs. Hufflepuffs do things because it's the right thing to do and it's something they have to do, no matter their personal believes. While Gryffindors would mostly do things that are based on their believes, what they thinks is the right things or to be a hero. I know it's not very clear, so please allow me to explain this.
-> If a Slytherin first year is severely harmed or in a dangerous spot (they are either going to fall from their broom from a long distance or being attacked by a troll) while another first year is in a minor danger - attacked by some small animals that most upper classes could stop. A Gryffindor will either <1> save them, because they are a hero and they won't stop talking about it for weeks, or <2> they would try to save the other student, Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff, mostly because they are known to be involved with the dark arts. A Hufflepuff will try to save everyone, no matter their house, if they are in great danger, they have to save them. It's the right thing to do. And they won't need any recognition, because they will legitimately think that it's normal to do it and it's the right thing to do. They don't do it to be a hero.
Buck do his job because it makes him feel better. Yes, during the first two episodes of the first season he didn't act it, however I think he still loved the job. He had changed after the two episodes. He loved saving people, it makes him feel good. And that's a Hufflepuff trait. He wanted to save everyone and not being able to breaks him. The 2nd episode of s1, Devon's death was hard on Evan and that's a good indication of his house traits, as other houses would react differently.
Slytherin wouldn't really have bothered, they would've erase the memory from their brain to save themselves . Ravenclaw would have tried to burry themselves in their work and to be more logical then they really are to avoid any negative impact. Gryffondor would've been reckless during the call and they would've tried to get Devon, they could have been able to reach him and; <1> save both of them (and get reprimanded afterward) or <2> they would have both died.
Sensitive : I think that Hufflepuff is the most sensitive Hogwarts house because they do things because it's the right thing to do and because it make them happy. They don't like when people are hurt and when they cann't do anything about it. If someone is injured because they couldn't help them, they would work harder to be able to avoid feeling the same way they did when they have failed to help someone. And it would affect it for a long time, even after they have apologized or if they could help during same situations now.
I explained a bit of that before, talking about the right thing to do. The perfect example is when he was talking about his SEAL training. Buck is way too sensitive to be able to shut down any kind of emotions, and if you closely see his face (Oliver's acting is really great) you could see the emotions in it. It made me feel like he was thinking about it and it still makes him feel bad; to not feel any emotion and only be a machine than can kill on command. He couldn't do that because it's not a thing his heart deemed good to do. (Not in a good VS Evil, but in a neutral way. A personal good thing to do; the right thing to do for him. Nothing more and nothing less.).
Another good example is Devon's death. Buck was shaked by his death, not because it was the first person he had personally lost, but because it's a person he had lost. He couldn't forget and felt guilty. I'm sure he couldn't forget about it even after he knows that it wasn't his fault. I don't think he feltguilty but he couldn't forget. =
Have anyone noticed that after Devon's death, he started acting recklessly to be able to save people, not holding back? I did felt like it was the reason. He worked harder so he couldn't loose another person, but it wasn't enough so he had to make sure he could save them; by doing stunts and everything.
The other example is the most obvious one. The infamous Tsunami. It was the most hard thing, but also the most show off of the trait for him. He was not mentally good, PTSD and depression, but he didn't think about himself. He thought about Christopher first, then he thought about saving the other people around them. When Christopher got lost, he searched for him, anywhere, not taking breaks. When he thought he had lost him, it was the most heartbreaking moment of the 3 seasons so far. It looked like his world had crushed down. And his face when he saw that Christopher, oh my god, that relieved smile? Then collapsed from exhaustion and blood loss (because he got himself injured while still being on Blood thinner but he never stopped looking for Christopher). After that, he blamed himself for losing him and bringing him to the piers, even if he knew it was a natural disaster, that he could've lost him even if he was with him. But he still felt guilty and was shocked when Eddie brought him to his house and told him that there was no one he trusted his son with more than him. That was a turning point in their relationship, our point of view, but also to his own vision of himself.
I know that this would work for Gryffondors as well, but there still are differences. Buck is reckless, but not suicidal or stupid; he was injured, and he had to stay with Christopher so he was going to wait there but then Christopher was taken. That's when he started searching for him. A Gryffondor wouldn't have waited and would've tried to save everyone while, either taking Christopher with him or leaving him on the top of the fire truck.
Awkward and awkwardly cute/adorable : I know this sound werid, but that's how I sees it. I don't mean that Hufflepuffs are werid or people wants to avoid them. I see them the kind of werid that people loves and that's what makes them adorable. Just like someone panicked in front of a given situation, not death or life situations, and not knowing what to do. It will makes them look super adorable. It's also the same weirdness that comes from dorks and nerds that would get all excited while talking about anything they like and they could give hundred of random facts about it. Like talking about star trek and how excited they are to watch that episode, even if they have talked about and watched the episode hundreds times. They are the best people to break an awkward moments, so you know. They are a blessing. Take that from someone who's socially awkward.
Buck have a bunch of moments when he is all adorable and/or adorably werid. When the women were giving birth during the yoga class. He looked so cute it made me want to hug him and say “don't worry, I'll help you. You know what, just saty here and be adorable, I'll do it myself. You look too cute and too innocent to do that.”

Hufflepuffs [...] get a pretty raw deal in the world of Harry Potter. You could never describe a Hufflepuff as “ambitious” or “valiant,” or “brilliant.” “Loyal” hardly seems as flashy a trait as any of the others. Jokingly, I used to imagine introducing a Hufflepuff boyfriend to my parents. In the scenario they’d wait until he left before saying, “Well, he’s… nice.” [...]
But we all know a Hufflepuff. Some of our closest friends are probably Hufflepuffs. A Hufflepuff will split a cookie with you, and give you the bigger half without even thinking about it. Hufflepuffs always know how to defuse awkward situations. They make the best wingmen. They’re not dramatic, they don’t fish for compliments, and they never have problems dealing with change. When your ego gets the best of you, a Hufflepuff will keep it in check. Hufflepuffs are charismatic, empathetic, and easy to take for granted because they put their friends before anyone else.
Why? They don’t need a reason why. A Hufflepuff doesn’t need to know the good deeds you’ve done, or how powerful your wand is, and a Hufflepuff doesn’t care how you do at math (thank goodness).
It's not totally right, especially with Buck. But then again, most people doesn't have 100% of a house traits. Most people are a mix of two houses, with between 40 to 60%, maybe three with two houses being more dominants than others. So Buck isn't exactly a hufflepuff.
He longs for compliment, not because he wanted to be seen as a great person, but because he wanted people to be proud of him. To make them see he isn't a burden, a waste of space or worthless. I think he didn't get much praise when he was younger nor that he had a great relationship with his parents, and that's why he sees Bobby as a father and Athena as a mother. And that he needs their approval. I never thought I could've been so right about his parents, and I hate that because he deserves better!
-> I get this idea from some moments from the series. He nearly lost his leg, and nearly died many times, his sister was badly hurt too but I didn't see any indication that his parents came or called. Even if that would have been bad, if your child nearly died, you come to see them or you call, it's just that. Even if you don't talk anymore.
The best case is that they are both dead. The worst is that they are alive.

Real friends/United/fraternity : The very first trait we ever heard about Slytherin is 'real friends' and it was from the sorting hat during Harry's first year. I know that 'real friends' is not a trait, but it actually can have a lot of meaning. I interpreted this as Slytherin being casted out by most people (minus most Hufflepuffs and some other people,) and that many wizards that went to Hogwarts, students and Adults, saw them as devil children and they have to wait and see them go berserk. The children have to stuck with each other and protect each other against all of the enemies. Did we ever saw a Slytherin bad mouthed another or argue with another outside their dorm ? No, I don't think so. They have a lot (and I mean a lot) of people hating on them and if they are against themselves, they will be weaker and could be hurt. I do think that older students protect the youngers, and that each year went together to the Hall and to classes. Slytherin never went alone, unless they decided to do it on their own.
Athena is a Slytherin. She will get a family, and then, she'll stuck to them as much as she can. Which is a lot. That's exactly why she is the fire family's mama. And you hurt them ? Aww man, we've already dig your grave and called your family. You are dead.
Leadership: Sound wrong? Well, too bad cause it's true. Slytherin can be/becomes great leaders. Because they will make sure their team wins no matter what and they will know how their teams works and how make them use their full potential. They are as logistics and tactical as Ravenclaw, but they don't just stuck with logic, they use their brain and other means to do so. That's dangerous. They are dangerous and they knows it. This trait is one of the one that opposes them to Gryffinds, as both seek the power of leadership but they have different way of leading. (And that's why making a Gryffindor/Slytherin leading duo is efficient and deadly... have anyone say Athena and Bobby?) .
Let's just be real. If Athena Grant order you to do something, you'll do it without any hesitation, any complain while smiling from eat to ear. Even if you don't like it. She's a badass leader and an even badass cop. She is the alpha. You can't beat that.
Cunning or ambitious/resourceful/clever: One of the most important trait of the Slytherin house is being Cunning, or ambitious to achieving ones' end by any mean, even the most disgusting and morally not-right way. It's not being a cheater, it's being resourceful and clever and it's using what you've got to win, no matter what. Besides, they won'tgo cheat just like that and only cheat, that's stupid. They will do anything to achieve their goal, no matter the price and the sacrifices. And if all houses do it, Slytherin is the one to never be caught (Hufflepuff will not do that, we all knows it. and Gryffindors, they could've just scream it out loud on the Great hall, it would've had the same result.) They knows exactly what and when to do their things. They merely but use all resources that are given to them no less and no more.
Athena is a cop, therefore she is a fervent fighter for law, but didn't she use her Cunning-like personality to arrest the passengers on the plane and stopped/arrested the girl because of whom her baby girl was hurt? That's what a Slytherin is for me. Do whatever they have to in order to protect those they care about, even if it's frowned upon or against the law. Well not totally against the law, because they would also do anything to avoid being sent to prison or to endanger their carrers and lives.
Determination : what Slytherin are not, is weak-minded and pusillanimous. Once they have a goal? Nothing can change their mind to achieve it. Unless they found a better goal to achieve and the previous one becomes unnecessary. They knows exactly what they want and they won't allow people, themselves or anything to prevent them from reaching it. Especially if once they achieve it, they will have power, recognition, money, aor any personal happiness it can provide. They won't give up. Of course, they could always take bad and short ways to achieve it, not being as hard workers as Hufflepuff, but that doesn't mean that they will wait for it to be given for them. They are not that dumb, thank you very much. They knows that they would have to work, a little bit hard, to achieve it. And, even if Hufflepuff are hard workers, they are not as much as determined to achiever their ultimate goal as Slytherin are, because it seems that Slytherins' life turn solely on reaching the goals they wants for themselves. And contrary to a popular belief, they only accept their parents goal for them if it suits their own needs. They are not their parents' puppets, they do whatever they want, and if someone's not happy, well, they don't give a hook. Why would they?
Is Athena determined ? Absolutely, she is determined and if she have an idea, she totally will go for it. Even if that means going against direct orders if it's something she want/have to do. There will be no one to stop her, unless it's her children, May and Harry, Christopher and Denny. And buck too, of course. They are her most important goal and achievement and she could get the moon for them if they want it. And you know what? She could get it for them.
Respectful/Values respect, respect someone if they deserves or wins it and judgy (that's something I thought about myself, feel free to disagree) : I think slytherin values respect, a lot. If someone don't respect them or what they are trying to do/something they think deserve a certain amount of respect that the other person don't give, they won't be happy. They also would judge people easily, even if they don't know them, based on how they have witnesed them doing or a brief moment. That can change, if the person wins their friendship or respect by doing something they sees as worthy. It's very difficult to gain a Slytherin respect or love/friendship if you have done something they don't like or if you have betrayed or hurted them. If you manage to do that, you probably won't lose their respect/friendship/love, unless you do the same thing and this time, there is no going back.
One of the first scene that had caused my eyes with Athena is when she clashed with Buck during the first episode, when she tried to get the teenager in the ambulance. Here, she saw Buck in a very negative way and if she could avoid him she could. It was show during the same episode when he was one one who came with the fire truck to save the little girl. After that, she started to warm up to him, and she could, from then, start to know him more and appreciate him. If she didn't, we would've missed out the incredible dinamic between the two and that would've been so sad!

After university Barry and his two best friends Cisco and Caitlin are sent to an internship at the STAR Hospital. But they "forget" to warn them about one important point: not only people, but also various other creatures are treated in this hospital.
For example, vampire partners, Leonard and Mick, who always get into trouble because of their passion for crime (one day Leonard brought his partner in an urn for ashes, you would know how hard it is to restore a body from a pile of ashes!).
Or a not particularly lucky team of various creatures who travel to different worlds, trying to help everyone in their path and, of course, often get injured.
Over time, Barry completely gets used to his unusual work. He learns to heal the bites of werewolves, remove the poison of vampires from the blood, even remove the curses of witches and the spells of demons.
And he also begins to accept the courtship of Leonard from the couple of vampires who are in the hospital more often than outside it.
