These are SO GOOD! Not every kettle cooked chip is the same, you know? #miyokoscreamery cultured vegan pepperjack slices were SO good! I’ve honestly never had a better vegan cheese. These went great on my #tofurkey sandwich with some spinach and vegan mayo. 🤤 Both taste and texture were great. I’ve yet to try this melted on a grilled cheese, but if you have, let me know how you liked it! #sweetearthfoods chipotle style seitan! Now, buying this and trying it out was not my original intention. My plan was to make fajitas using gardein’s chik’n that I know and love, but I went to THREE different grocery stores and they were out at every. single. one. 🙄 BUT, what a blessing in disguise. I thought, “Well, I’ve only used seitan once FOREVER ago. Let’s try this out.” I’m so happy that I did! I was a little concerned that the marinade they were in would affect my spices, but this actually added more flavor to my recipe in a good way. Texture was good, my partner really loved dinner, and I believe this was actually cheaper than what I would have spent on the chik’n strips. 10/10 would definitely recommend. On another note - I attempted the vegan queso from The Minimalist Baker’s Everyday Cooking cookbook. It looks alright, but... that flavor and texture was something else. By “something else,” I don’t mean good. I mean bad. And I mean really bad. My partner DID not like it and neither did I. It was less horrible with some tortilla chips, however... we ended up just tossing it. It’s another chili post! This time I tried to better document what ingredients I use the most when making chili. The only thing not pictured before cooking here are the fresh tomatoes, bell peppers, and jalapeños from my grandpa’s garden and the onion I had to grab from the farmer’s market. My partner is an omnivore but loves to try new vegan food with me. 💕 We has breakfast for dinner and paired our pancakes with @purefarmland plant based breakfast patties! I liked these way more than I thought I would, if I’m being honest. 😳 I’ve had a lot of luck lately with #fauxsausage and #veggiedogs when I typically am not a huge fan of any type of fake pork product or sausage. The only problem I had was that they were a little bit dry, but that could have been a cooking error, and once I poured some maple syrup on them it took care of the issue for the most part. I tried the @alphafoods chik’n veggie pot pie for lunch the other day. I don’t know what it is about alpha foods constantly just having a STRONG mushroom flavor to me. However, I definitely like this a lot better than the burrito that I tried. The outside smelled like a delicious, buttery biscuit when I took it out of the oven and had a good, light crust to the top (like it had been brushed with a vegan butter?) I really wish they would sell this bread as a biscuit! I would empty the shelves, it was so good. But... then I got to the filling. Don’t get me wrong, the first bite was actually pretty tasty - texture was just like a standard pot pie, gravy consistency was nice, the little chicken bits were good. The more bites that I took, though, the more I could taste that mushroom-y flavor and I just wasn’t down for it. I still ate more than half! I’ve been in the middle of a big move, so I needed something quick and easy for lunch today. I tried #treslatinfoods black bean and corn pepusas with some #hotsauce and had some watermelon on the side. 🤤 the pepusas were good, simple, quick to make but did lack a little flavor. Got lunch delivered from @leafandseedcafe today, and as always, it was fantastic! Today I tried out two items I haven’t had yet: The Hawaiian burger and their berry blend smoothie. These homemade chips were SO GOOD too! As you can see, I was so excited that I took a big bite out before even snapping a photo. 😅 13/10 will always recommend if you’re in or around Toledo, OH. #morningstarfarms newer veggitizers popcorn chik’n! These were pretty much what you’d expect, they tasted like their chik’n nuggets. I was kind of hoping that the breading might be a little different, a little thicker, a little bit of a spice to it - but all I got were mini versions of the regular nuggets. Sweet & Natural Blueberry Lemon Crème Cake! As stated in a previous post, this was not specifically marked as vegan, but I wish it had been because it would have been a lot easier to find! I almost missed it. :( But, as I’ve learned, you’d be surprised by what’s vegan if you just look at the ingredients. (Note: this lists #earthbalancebutter as an ingredient!) this was purchased at #wholefoodsmarket in their refrigerated bakery section. WFM’s 365 brand organic tortilla chips and their taquería salsa. Overall for both, 9/10, mainly because I will always prefer homemade salsa over to anything I’ve found in a store. This one had a pretty good medium spice to it, it was exactly what I expected, however a little thicker than I thought it would be. The chips weren’t all broken and crumby when I opened the bag either which was great! Went out for a Whole Foods run today! I can’t wait to try all of these products and let you folks know what I think! *I have already tried the Earth Balance butter - what vegan hasn’t?? But I thought I’d just include everything I bought on the trip. Today I had the absolute pleasure of finally trying out #franklyplantbasedkitchen an entirely vegan hotdog food truck in #toledoohio 😍 Now, I don’t meet many vegan hotdogs that I end up liking, but I ordered their 313 dog (your basic coney style dog) and I LOVED it and ate every bite up. I stole some of my friend’s jalapeños off some of the best loaded fries I’ve ever had for a little more humphhh. The Mac and chz was delicious and didn’t have a weird sort of after taste that I find a lot of vegan macs to have. 10/10 would recommend. The other night, I made “steak” sammies using portobello #mushrooms With some roasted #carrots on the side. The sandwiches were inspired by @iamtabithabrown and her portobello steaks! I seasoned and marinated my mushrooms in spices and #bbq sauce, threw them in a cast iron with some onion and bell pepper, and topped it off with some chz and a little more bqq.
