Iâve been feeling really sad lately bc after this latest rise in anti transmasc sentiment Iâve had to unfollow some trans women Iâve been following for literal years bc they started reblogging and posting really nasty and very uncharitable things abt transmascs on my feed. And like. These are women whose voices I very much respected and listened to, and to hear them basically say they consider me an enemy who canât be trusted bc I want to talk about my experiences, but all of our issues are really just splash damage from bigotry directed at them and talking abt my own experiences without acknowlefing that itâs not really meant for me is wrong. Itâs like. So hurtful. And it makes me feel really hopeless about the future of the trans community.
How do I fight back against that hopelessness?
it really sucks and i'm sorry you're also being affected by this. i hear people talk about this every single day and i really don't like that this is just becoming a default in the trans community in general. it seems like the default mode of most online queers is hating transmascs and trans men as if that will somehow make cishet society accept them more. it's selfish behavior.
i'm an intersex trans woman and it's hard for me to interact with the online transfem and trans woman communities, because we're seeing a new experience in the form of transradfeminism, where trans women proudly adopt the anti-man ideals from rad feminism and spread it like it's the truth. it's a sad and painful thing to say, but these trans women are doing this because they believe rad fems and women who hate men are the only "Real" women and desperately want to be seen as "real" women. it stems from their personal dysphoria rooted in manhood, how they take out their own dysphoria in being seen as men on men and mascs. it comes from a place of pain, and it is misguided. instead of directing their hatred toward transmisogyny, they keep it inside the community. it's vile.
it's really sad but trans women and transfems are not immune to being indoctrinated by rad fems and terfs. applying those ideals to being trans isn't progressive. dictating who is and isn't trans is an act of policing. feeling as though one has the right to sit there and claim to know every trans experience, claiming to be the authority on transness... it's fascism.
i'm just plain tired of hearing people make fun of afab trans people and trans men and to talk about them like they're a blight on the community. im tired of people saying things like "do we really need more men?" i'm really sick and tired of chronically online people saying that trans men "aren't real trans people". this one really pisses me off. implying that trans womanhood and transfemininity are the only "real" ways to be trans is also identity policing. what is "unreal" about trans men? i'm tired of trans men being treated like they're unreliable. i'm tired of people wearing their misogyny on their sleeve to constantly treat trans men like they are not reliable narrators. i'm tired of people thinking somehow the instant you begin identifying as a man, you benefit from patriarchy.
i'm tired that people seriously think trans men and mascs can't coin terms for their own experiences. why the hell not? they happen, just because you don't see them personally doesn't mean they don't happen. i have met and lived with so many transmascs over the years, and we've all shared very similar stories about the discrimination we face. it's not spitting in the face of anyone to coin terms like transandrophobia and antimasculism. they happen just as often as transmisogyny does, and happily participating in it only increases trans violence
these talking points are old and it sucks to see more and more trans women get indoctrinated into literal rad feminism. hating trans men will not make dysphoria around being seen as a man go away. hating trans men does not dismantle the patriarchy. hating afab people isn't progressive, it's misogynistic. hating intersex trans men isn't progressive, it's transphobic -and- intersexist. trans men deserve so much better than this. trans men are trans. trans men are people. trans men are not evil by virtue of existing
i say try to do your best to connect with and appreciate the other trans men and mascs in your life. we have to stick together. if you have transfem friends who are on your side, make sure to be there for them, too. not every trans woman is like this fortunately, most trans women are very chill about trans manhood. this is a vocal minority of people who want to be fascists and want to control and police other trans people. transradfeminism isn't progressive, it's just as bad as regular rad feminism, if not worse, because now there's an even bigger focus on hating trans people.
hating other trans people will never get you ahead in cisheteronormative society. try to take care of yourself as best as you can. really relish trans joy when you experience it. take time to affirm your gender. know that manhood is a blessing. manhood is beautiful. it is varied, nuanced, and complex. it is a wonderful thing to experience. men are not evil. men are not bad. we should never remove the accountability from individuals.
hating trans men makes you transphobic. there's just no other way to it. whether or not you accept that it's called transandrophobia, it is still transphobia, and you really should care. the trans community isn't here for just 1 type of trans person. it's here for all of us. good luck, stay safe out there. be good to yourself

I'm going to sound very old and very tired here for a second, but iIt is so dystopian to me to have ads on my computer.
Ads used to be on the internet. And that's that. The things that were installed on my computer did not show me ads.
And that goes even beyond the questionable practice that free versions of programs such as Avira now show you lil ads in the corner of your screen like once a day.
You used to have free games on your computer.
I was in the mood to play a game again, a very rare mood for me, and I opened the game center for the... first time since I had this version of Windows (as I said; very rare mood).
And there's ads. You play the "free" games that live on your computer and there are ads left and right and beneath it and between levels there is just a 20 second ad break.
You can go premium to no longer have ads.
That's dystopian to me.
When things that used to be fully free and just part of something are now riddled with ads and to get the ad free experience that, again, used to just be the experience, you have to pay.
And it's not even a one-time-payment.
Back in the day, you used to pay for something and then you owned it. You used to pay for a program or a game, and you owned a physical CD that you put in your computer to install the thing and it was just yours. It belonged to you, because you paid for it.
Now everything is a per month subscription, which is just so sinister because many look like oh, that's not that much money! Sure, I'll pay 1,99âŹ/month to play games ad free. Every single month sums up, and it sums to a lot over the years though, for something that used to be free. (And I've complained about subscriptions before, in the context of Adobe, which isn't just dystopian anymore, it's actually plain evil to demand 25,99âŹ/month to use a singular program, that you can now no longer buy to actually own.)
And I know - I know - you can find free games online to download or play in browser (already did that for mahjong) - but I'm talking about the principle here. The principle of getting ads on your computer, directly, and to have to pay to no longer have ads and use something that had been a part of the Windows experience since... forever.
When I start up my tv, if I don't immediately grab my remote and move what's being hovered over, ads start autoplaying on the tv at full volume.
I also no longer have a remote because when my dog chewed up the original and I bought a replacement, I learned that universal remotes don't work on my tv, and the company that makes it apparently doesn't nake functioning replacements, so NOW instead of a remote, I have to use an app on my phone. Which is great, because it only works if both my phone and my tv are actively and simultaneously connected to the same wifi network! Which I love!
Straight up I'm about to buy a projector to use instead of a tv monitor but I'm afraid they've started putting ads and apps in those too

I love the little detail of Jinx scrunching up her nose when upset only on one side of her face and how she clearly got it from Silco.
Cos Silco's likely only emoting like that cos half of his face is paralyzed and so when he does it it looks natural, he just can't move that part of his face and it's likely that without the scar Silco would be emoting with his whole face.
However when Jinx does it it looks a little awkward. She has to keep half of her face relaxed meanwhile emote with the other half. So not only did she pick up this face expression from him but also the quirk of only doing it with one side of her face even tho for her it makes no sense. And not only does she mimic his face expression but she also acts a little like a literal mirror, with Silco emoting with the right side of his face and Jinx emoting with her left side.

Abusive girls exist and what theyâre doing is seen as like âbadass tough donât take no shitâ but your girl should not hit you. Ever.

It sounded almost distantly familiar, but she panicked when the IFF module didn't give an immediate response. A mental command, flicking the mass accelerator out of her left arm and⌠no confirmation. Her heart raced.
She tried bringing up her scope. Night vision. Thermal. No response.
Patient is experiencing spasms, requesting restraints!
Preparing for combat she braced for the euphoric cocktail of drugs that were about to be delivered into her system when the adrenalin spike was detected, starting to shake as the hit never came.
Running down the list of cockpit commands in a fervour, begging for feedback. HUD. Lights. Even the camera washer. Her mind hovered over the last two mental commands, one that would start an emergency eject that should work on the last remaining dregs of backup power, the other would deliver a fatal shock of electricity to the base of her neck. She weighed them evenly; if she was taken down by an EMP and being cut out, ejection would be certain death anyway.
Patient at risk of harm! I need help here!
With a determined mental nod she triggered the eject, trying to tense herself up and opened her eyes.
Instead of the inky-black comfort of the cockpit she was immediately overwhelmed with light. Nauseated she tried to throw up only to have a thin string of drool dribble down her chin. As things came into focus she was hit by a second wave of nausea. Sluggish motor inputs felt like twice the response time she was used to. Multiple ocular inputs overwhelmed with more visual feedback than she had with the mech's single TGP and laser rangefinder.
Finally she saw arms being held down. Not her arms. These were pale, thin and fragile things, twitching and shaking as someone held them down by the wrist. Knowing when she was beaten she sent the final mental command. Nothing. She was still here as she fell limp, her eyes catching a bare chest rising and falling in exertion out of the bottom of their field of view.
Seizure has subsided, testing reflexes.
Feeling started to return as blood pumped through her body. Not hydraulic oil or coolant. Blood. Right. The arms and chest were hers and the sound of her panicked breathing suddenly cut through the tinnitus, her body retching again.
Something loomed over her, blocking out the light before a pinprick blinded her again, waving back and fourth before winking out, consumed into the overhead blur again.
"Pupils slow to respond, suspected brain damage."
The voice, lacking any static from transmission, was right above her. She was just processing what had finally been understood when she felt a prick in her left wrist.
"Administering sedative for MRI."
Her nervous system jerked only to find muscles that wouldn't contract, paralysed as her mind once again faded into static.
