The continual trend of making (insert popular m/m ship) into women annoys me for a lot of reasons, not least because people frequently act like it's somehow feminist to do this because it means youre talking about women now, nevermind that actual female characters exist, but also because people are never interesting about it. These are frequently stories ABOUT male experiences and toxic masculinity etc and people just wanna plop cis women in and pat themselves on the back for drawing or writing more f/f as if theyre not still engaging with a ship that is very much two men. Its always so surface level, like being a woman is just an aesthetic. And i think the most glaring evidence of this is that the genderswap people never make them transgender. Your canonically m/m ship could be a transbian ship so easily. It doesnt require you to change any of the backstory or logistics of the plot. Hollanov cisgender female hockey players just doesnt make any goddamned sense. But hollanov egg4egg transbianism..... Now we're cooking with gas.
