Despite all the parallels I've seen people point out in If He Had Been With Me, the most tragic one for me is:
Autumn used to write stories with tragic endings. They always ended that way, she said. But when writing her novel with characters based on her and Finny, they had a happy ending.
For just one day, she really thought they'd have one in real life, too.

I'm not quite done with the new season of XO, Kitty, but I so hope that Julianna won't be continously fucked over anymore 😅
I actually have a draft I wrote up while watching season 1 that I recently looked at again, and one thing I wrote was that Kitty and Yuri shouldn't happen if it's at the expense of Julianna.
Yuri would be my number one pick for Kitty if it wasn't for Julianna. And now that Yuri cheated on her, the idea of Kitty and her getting together now is kinda...ruined? That will always be the start of their relationship: The end of another one with an act of betrayal.
I think the show might be going for a Kitty/Minho endgame anyway. Otherwise, the many parallels to Laura Jean/Peter are pointless
I'm rewatching Young Justice, a show that not only I haven't tocuhed since 2015, but also never seen past season 2.
And yet, to this day, I can confidently say that no character death has affected me the way Wally West's did.
I realized this after getting through half the first season, and having the dread of knowing what happens to him pops into my head every episode I start. The whole reason I started my rewatching is because of a Spitfire animatic on TikTok with the sound "and the funny thing is I would have married you if you had stuck around" and tell me why that mentally brought me to my knees? Like, it left me devastated for a good five minutes.
He found his Spitfire, but he didn’t get to spend his life with her. He saved the world but didn't get to see the team he helped create become something more.
I remember "he's in the speed force," truthing so hard, and honestly, I still hope that's true, even though I know that Young Justice is over and he never comes back. It makes it all a little less sad and lets me canonize an ending where he does come back in my head.
Wally West, to this day, you are still dear to me, and at the same time, you continue to be the biggest tragedy I have ever seen.
They did it for InuYasha: The Final Act and they can do it for Ranma too.
Even if it isn't a kiss and ends up being an epilouge where they ACTUALLY get married, that would just be okay.
I know absolutely no one is gonna give a shit about this, but I'm listening to the audio books for the Matched trilogy, which I haven't read since middle school.
I remember liking the books, but I don't remember much from them. What I DO remember is picturing Ky NOT being white. After all, he's described as having darker skin and black hair. So, listening to this, this is who I envisioned:

So imagine my surprise when I look Ky Markham up to see how other people see him AND ALL I SEE ARE WHITE MEN 😭
Like, even as a middle schooler, Ky was NEVER white in my head. So, looking at the picture used on fandom wiki:

Was honeslty a big shock for me. Now don't get it twisted, I'm not saying there's anything wrong with Ky being widely believed to be white, I'm just saying that I was so surprised that it seems I was the only one who pictured him that way.
Anyhow, in my head all I can see is Micheal Cimino as Ky, and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan as Cassia now.

Friendly reminder that Percy jackson - our beloved silly adorable seaweed brain - is absolutely terrifying. When he’s angry, when he’s scared, when he’s on edge - he’s not warm and fuzzy.
No other character gets that reaction from people. Jason (the sweetie) is perceived as calm and in control, nico (our favorite self-outcasted outcast) is perceived as solemn and creepy, reyna (girlboss queen slay) is perceived as confident and assertive, and annabeth (our girl) is perceived as fierce, clever, and formidable. They are all intimidating to an extent.
But not like Percy. No. Becasue even when he’s at ease, he’s described as wild and disobedient. And when he’s not at ease, even if just little bit, he’s perceived as powerful, dangerous, and scary. Someone who NOBODY wants to mess with. Nobody even questions his power. One look from him has literal gangs running the other way. One look from him has Leo so scared that he’s literally shaking, and feeling the same innate fright and alarm that he does when jason summons an ear-piercing, earth-shaking, deadly bolt of lighting.
like… HELLO??? can we all just sit on that for a moment?? good lord
One angry look from percy has people thinking one thing: Run.
Percy is, canonically, the character that people find the most frightening and intimidating.
And unless he’s in a good mood - which you better hope he is - the reality is that most of us would be completely terrified of him if we met him.
Percy's anger is like the sea. When most people see choppy, hundreds of feet tall waves and dark skies, they wouldn't dream of trying to sail on it. It's quite literally a death wish.
Gods forbid his anger is like earthquakes; run to the water to escape the shaking ground, but find yourself right where he wants you anyways.
So, I absolutely refused to watch the ATLAB live action for reasons you've probably already seen. But my main reason, and how I decided litteral MONTHS before it came out, was that the Og creators left the show due to "creative differences".
If any of you have never seen a Netflix original show, remake or otherwise, you should know that "creative differences" usually means "Netflix took the reins and fucked it alllll up".
Now, I didn't watch it. But my optimistic younger sister did. At first, she said it was okay. But then she finished it today and told me that, yes, Netflix took the reins and, indeed, fucked it all up.
I could probably go on and on about how live action remakes of animated shows is the least creative thing you could do, and how it's contributing to the lack of new animated shows, while also showing Hollywood is both creatively starved and clueless about how not to butcher the few good ideas they do have.
I could also go on about how this new format of show (eight forty minute episodes a season) makes creating new worlds, exploring them, fleshing out characters, nearly impossible to do which is why a lot of newer shows fall flat to the point where I go back to rewatching New Girl for the umpteenth time.
But I'll just say that I'm glad that the Og creators of ATLAB are working on their own series, and I can't wait to watch it.
I love the way they've changed Luke's character in the show.
SPOILER for if you want to read the book, but Luke originally poisons Percy with a pit scorpion when he won't join him and fully intended to leave him for dead.
In the book, he's out for blood, and it's easy to hate him when he hurts people whenever they're in the way. But here, he's just a kid thinking he's doing the right thing and is saving those he cares about from more suffering at the hands of the gods. He doesn't want to hurt Percy and even seems to regret it before he runs off.
I think it's easier to sympathize with him this way, and his character won't be chalked up to simply "evil." The thing is, Luke isn't wrong about the gods. He isn't wrong to feel that way about them. But the way he goes about changing things IS wrong, and I think this change will help people remember that as the show goes on.
With this change, though, I can see him slowly devolving over the next 4 seasons. He'll have good intentions at first, but eventually, he won't care about anything as long as the gods pay. And he won't realize just how far gone he is until it's too late.
I just want to add some thoughts about Annabeth in this scene:
For those who haven't read the book, Annabeth wasn't there when Luke revealed himself as the Lightning Theif. And because she was in the show, some people are saying that she won't go through her arc of struggling to believe Luke's betrayal.
But I don't think that's the case.
Yeah, she did see and hear his plans herself, but that probably won't stop her from trying to justify his actions in her head for a while. And after that, it won't stop her from believing there's a chance he can come back from this and that she's the one who will save him, just like he did her all those years ago.
Picture this:
Annabeth and Luke come face to face throughout the rest of the series. Luke is constantly begging her to join him, and you can tell that it's tempting for her and she'd give anything to be with him again, but that's where they are different: she doesn't give into that temptation. Instead, she pleads for him to remember who he is, their life at camp half blood, how close they used to be. As time goes on, she can see how brutal and unapologetic he's become. But she still convinces herself every time that he's still there. He's still her older brother. He just needs someone to reach out a hand. And she does. Every. Single. Time.
But he'll never take it.
And because of her fatal flaw, her hubris, she'll struggle to admit when he's finally beyond saving.

I haven't seen anyone say how funny it was when Sally asked why her son wasn't allowed admission at the school anymore, the principal led with:
"He drew a very concerning picture...a horse. WITH WINGS."
And not:
"He found himself up on the roof of his old school, and we just can't take on the risk of having him if he does stuff like that."
That man was first and foremost concerned about a child's imagination over him being on the roof of a building 😭 Like, how dare he draw a horse with wings, what a little devil he is.
What do you think he says to a kid who drew a unicorn in class? "A horse?!? With a KNIFE IN IT'S HEAD?!? YOU SICKO!!!"
Rick himself has confirmed that poker face is not gonna be in the next episode, but I'm excited for the disappointment some people will feel because of it.
Not that I hate Lady Gaga or anything, but because I personally feel like some of the people saying the shows NEEDS that scene are the same people are are suddenly PJO Movie defenders after certain choices were made for the PJO show.
I've seen so many people point out the parallel of Medusa being punished by Athena for Poseidons' actions, and Annabeth being punished by Athena for Percy's actions.
But let me take that a step further by mentioning that Poseidon didn't do anything to make up for what Athena did to Medusa on his behalf. And on top of that, he's literally one of the three most powerful gods. He could've if he wanted to!
But then we have Percy, who threw Annabeth out the door and TOOK HER PLACE to fight the Chimera to make up for her being punished for something he did. He has very little fighting experience, was poisoned, and thought he was going to die while doing it, BUT HE DID IT.
Not only is this such a good comparison of how a god takes responsibility vs. how humans do, it's a perfect set up for Percy's fatal flaw.
I'm so excited for the rest of this show I can't even explain.
I just watched both The Amazing Spider Man movies after avoiding it for actual years, and now I'm thoroughly devastated that there will never be a third one.
What do you mean I never get to see more of Harry! Green Goblin? What do you mean I don't get to see the Sinister Six get their asses kicked? What do you mean I don't get to learn more about the secret lab in the subway? What do you mean I don't get to watch as Peter slowly learns how to live without Gwen, and maybe eventually forgive himself?!?!?
In another world, I suppose.
One thing I love about Cardan Greenbriar is that the man is a spoiled bitch.
In most media with prince/royal characters, they are depicted as kind men who, despite their royal upbringing, are down to earth and have no interest in being royalty at all. They would rather be adventuring the world with no royal responsibilities. They are usually skilled with weapons or at least know how to fight.
But Cardan is mean and self admittedly cruel. Though he doesn't like the responsibilities of a crown, he sure as hell loves to wear one and reap the benefits from it. When Jude was interrogating him he litterally said "I don't give a shit if my brother is king, just set me up with a nice house with nice things where I don't have to do anything." He won't fight or learn swordsmanship, but learns how to steal and pick-pocket, skills that a king never would need because, ya know, he's a KING. But he's extra like that
It's honestly refreshing to see this kind of prince character. Not that the down to earth type is bad, but people seem to be afraid to make the rich and powerful in their stories like being rich and powerful. And, on top of that, afraid to make their characters realistic products of their upbringing. Cardan was not raised with kindness and gentleness, was always told he was better because of what and who he is. So it makes sense he turned out to be a spoiled pretty boy with a severe attitude with a shameful crush on his biggest enemy.

So anyway, I swear Jude had never mentioned knowing about Cardans tail to him (prove me wrong if I am) yet he was so quick to be like "I'll show you my tail, don't you want to see it?" To avoid admitting he was attracted to her. So to him, confessing he had a tail and wiggling it around, which would be so embarrassing to him, was so much better than admitting he liked her.
So I watched the Miraculous movie.
For the most part, I loved it! The animation was gorgeous, Adrien wasn't walked all over by his dad, the LadyNoir moments were adorable, the villains were actually threatening-

Those last 30 minutes were kinda jumbled together. My first problem was them bringing back Adrien's selfish jealousy. In the show, we get so many episodes where he distracts from the fight by complaining to Ladybug about how his feelings are one-sided. Except, the movie is worse cause the city is in litteral flames, LB is dying on a sidewalk trying to call him for help, and he's ignoring it like that isn't the way they communicate to each other for help?! Then he shows up to the fight and sees LB laying on the ground, and still takes a dig at her for liking someone else?!!?!? I do not miss this version of Adrien, let me tell you.
I didn't notice until Chat Noir used his cataclysm, but that and the lucky charm were never explained in the movie (the lucky charm wasn't even IN the movie...well, kinda), so I felt like that was a mistake. New viewers to this world were probably so confused as to how Chat destroyed the eiffel tower randomly. And the magic pink hand thing that I guess was the miraculous ladybug wasn't explained either, other than a voice-over saying she has the power to create. There definitely needed more explanations on their powers.
Okay, so Hawkmoth is defeated. I loved how human they made him, and how he explained his motives in a very real way. But him being unmasked brings up so many questions about the (maybe) second movie. Also, where did he go? Is he in jail? They never said.
And now LB and CN know each others identities, which would be great if this is going to be the one and only movie. Judging by the end scene, I don't think it will be. One of the appeals of the show is the secret identity crisis, and the back and forth between the love square. But that's gone now, so I'm confused about how the next movie is gonna go. I'm assuming Myura is gonna make her appearance, but if she already knows Adrien is Chat Noir, wouldn't that make it too easy?
Over all, the movie is an 8/10 for me. I just wanted to share my thoughts about the ending. I'm excited to see how they do a second one, but please, NO MORE SELFISH JEALOUS ADRIEN!!!
