these interviews with the writers and some of the actors make it clear that their intentions aren’t being executed in the way they think they are.
Robby having biases wasn’t their intention and so they’re surprised by the response to his treatment of Mohan. And the thing is, we can sit and dissect Robby all day, we can say that he’s motivated by an outpour of love that he feels for the people around him or his berating and devaluing of some of his subordinates is simply a symptom of his projection, but how much work is the show actually doing to show it? How valuable is that reading of his character if all we see is his perspective? Noah says Robby thinks Samira is a rockstar and is showing his care for her but half the audiences reaction to her being written out directly contradicts that idea because their read of it is that she clearly doesn’t belong in the ED and her storyline was leading up to this.
all of this makes the decision to write Mohan out more egregious to me because it implies that instead of exploring this dynamic and adding more meat to it they’d rather get rid of the “problem” altogether so that these conversations aren’t happening.
