DIRECTIONS (COMIC) I love this version of Ann i've made lol
You know I don't think I've seen a female character embody big dumb sheep dog energy before, usually it's male characters.
But that's your version of Ann to me.
You know, when I've remarked that a lot of the responses to my posts feel like people are just plucking out keywords they think they recognise based on the shape of them and replying to what they imagine the post says based on that, the possibility never occurred to me that this is actually how many American schools are currently teaching kids to read.
Like, my assumption this whole time has been that when folks go "I misunderstood this post that says [thing] as saying [unrelated thing] because I mistook [word] for [completely different word that happens to start with the same letter]", that was a bit. What do you mean they're teaching kids a reading method that's tailored to produce this exact error?
Three cueing. Once you learn about it, a whole lot of very frustrating online discourse with US Americans makes so much sense 😭
For decades, schools have taught children the strategies of struggling readers, using a theory about reading that cognitive scientists have
I'm coming back to this and I want to try to take a stab at one of the Cues, the "look for context" because.... well that's what I was taught. I was also taught phonics(little cartoon characters like Licky Lick) but I was also taught to look for context. Even called them little context clues.
However there seems to be a break down in doing that these days from what I read. It seems instead of trying to glean context and understanding of what a word mean, these days it's being taught to look for context and what word you can REPLACE with.
Take what I just wrote. Read it again. I'm sure there's a word in there that's odd. Glean. 'Glēn .
Now how I was taught I would use the understanding of the sentence to try to understand what Glean means, which in this case is well, understand. Know. Gather/collect info. Piece together. Find out. But instead of doing that, these days it would be "What can we replace Glean with". Which isn't the way to go about it, more so if you replace it with something close but not contextually correct like Gleem(to shine).
Fandom Problem #15,541:
I need all the "NOT ALL ART IS POLITICAL!!!!" people to understand that the things they're able to view as being apolitical are in fact informed by politics. You think things are "not political" in the same way that some people think they "don't have an accent". Yes, you do. You just incorrectly consider it to be the "default" because it's what's normal--to you.
Just say you want art to reflect only your current political talking points and if they don't, they deserve to suffer.
For everyone in the back who thinks "all art is political". You've probably seen it 100000 times, but you need to see it again, because you're clearly too fucking stupid to not realize that no, not every piece of art is political, you dumb fucking shit.
"Something something Captializism something something Imperialsim something something Colonerzism something something Facist something something Misogynist"
Look I'm too tired to even do a joking 'break down' of what the art means like I did with Sonic games.
Is this political?
See, they'd say "yes" and then give you the dumbest "reasons" completely unrelated to the art for why.
"Erm, why are the colors black and white? Don't you know that black and white are races that exists and therefore only using those two colors make this a commentary on race?"
"Erm, you asking if it's political makes it political therefore the art is inherently political even if it is later posted without this question attached"
"Erm, you're viewing it on Tumblr, which only exists because of America and American politics exist, therefore anything which exists because of America is politics and therefore anything on Tumblr is politics and therefore this art is political"
"Erm, how do you know the artists wasn't a minority and therefore making the art political because everything a minority does, makes, or thinks about is political simply by virtue of them being a minority"
"Erm, actually you sharing this with others is inherently political because sharing things is culture and culture is politics because I have changed the definition of political to fit my needs"
Basically yeah. Think I said it before;
They have the answer already. They just bend things to make it fit the answer.
"The more mundane aspects of American life"
Ma'am there is nothing "mundane" about a Buc-ee's or Bass Pro Shop. Mundane is a bodega, Buc-ee's is a fucking mall with gas pumps
I hate how you can hear the sneering condescension in that journalist's voice. Fucking enemies of the people.
The best part of this is that before the world cup you had a lot of people saying shit like "omg you guys are going to hate it here it's so bad you all will finally see how horrible and ugly this country is!" And then when people came it was literally the exact opposite. Lol
The "experts" knew it would be a failure because we didn't build any infrastructure. No stadiums. No training facilities. Nothing.
Instead:
The Spanish; y'know the winners? They trained at a high school (private) in Chattanooga, TN. The facilities were better than they have at home. The city of Chattanooga also showed up with signs and a police escort as they came and went to their various games.
Lawrence Kansas was home to the Algerian team and they adopted them and celebrated the team, even though most of them had no clue where Algeria was.
The stadiums? We have extras that we never used. We could host a SECOND world Cup (give us a minute to install grass) and not re-use a single stadium. And those aren't even our biggest stadiums! 8 of the 10 largest stadiums on the planet are on COLLEGE CAMPUSES.
They held a friendly at Auburn and brought out the War Eagle and a flyover. The visitors had never seen anything like it.
The visitors? Obsessed with renting giant trucks and driving across the backroads of America. Discovering Buccees and Waffle House and Bass Pro Shops and random meat and threes and bbq joints.
A random German and his buddies went viral, spent a month here, charmed the whole country, discovered Ella Langley, met her, went to her concert, stayed in a luxury suite, met JJ Watt in Houston for a game, met the president, hung out on the lake, shot guns, saw the 250 fireworks, and have visited 20+ states.
Another German man was so overcome by the hospitality when the local news interviewed him he broke down in tears. Then he stayed an extra week because people were so nice.
The English fans? They went to an Atlanta Braves game and adopted a outfielder. Made up chants for him and everything. They didn't understand baseball at all. They still had a good time.
Erling Haaland from Norway's team visited a western store in Dallas and bought taxidermied rodents with liquor and beer bottles, a cowboy hat and t-shirt and the taxidermy rodents and the t-shirt are sold out. The last taxidermy rodent was sold to someone in Norway.
The only thing we didn't have was the FIFA banned tailgates - which is the one thing I wish we could introduce the visitors to. They'd LOVE a tailgate.
I saw an excerpt of Zlatan and Haaland interview and Haaland believed this was a fun World Cup because Americans don't care about winning. I mean we want to win, but we also like to party. No stakes. (I would like to formally request the Waldo kit be made permanent.)
And FIFA printed money. Early estimates are $2 billion. Even with $2k tickets.
This is also leaving out them just apparently falling in love with Ranch dressing so much one of the manufacturers started making basically ranch carrying case that followed airline regs so you could take some home rather than trying to sneak too many bottles on board(something about too much liquid with your carry on or something).
Also the big Gulp and AC .
I hope anyone that came for the games had a pleasant stay and I hope you come back to visit from time to time. Granted we might not be as nice, we kinda rolled up more of a carpet for the world cup, but at the end of the day we like good food, fun and have more in common with you than some people would want you to think.
Shantae doesn't like shirts
God forbid anyone, even a child, isnt able to press a few buttons and end up on a porn site and view literal torture of women anytime, anywhere. Putting an age restriction to a service that obviously needs to be age restricted is akin to chinese online control and to be blamed for everything thats wrong with the world. Oh yes im terrified of some tit pics, its got nothing at all to do with an entire generation of men being raised on violent hardcore pornography since they were 10 years old, growing up to internalise those ideas about what a womans place in the world is. Free speech and freedom of expression is all about being able to freely distribute and view content of women being brutalised, thats what its all about.
God forbid a parent take time out of their busy day to use the tools already provided to try and protect their kids from harmful sites.
God forbid a parent takes time out of their busy day to maybe talk to kids about the dangers of going online and to have some trust in their judgement about what they're protecting them from.
God forbid a parent, worried a child might still end up getting around said features, actually sit down with said kid and explain there's a lot of things online that's harmful, hurtful and not for them in that makes them listen to the parent and pick up some internet safety lessons.
GOD. FUCKING. FORBID. A parent not just use a fucking screen to baby sit their fucking child these days.
Cause sure fine whatever you banned the titty picks.
Roblox is still right fucking there. With their 'hotels' and thong based avatars and tweak dances. And apparently that's okay because it's not anime titties so wahtever I guess.
...I don't ever remember this in Doctor Posion's MO.
Of course this is the show that completely changed Livewire, sooo
To be fair, this is like the first time I've heard of a "Doctor Poison" anyway.
...We just throwing out innocent until proven guilty then? The Untouchable defends the public murderer and the family man falsely accused of assult, or the struggling single woman wrongly blamed for theft.
"We rightly agreed to the principle of rights, but it's so icky to actualy help people exercise them! The government is corrupt and obviously ACAB but also defending someone against a charge made by these bodies should result in instant shunning by the community!"
Actually what I'm saying is the public defenders are mostly insane and we should consider that not dealing with their obvious disregard for what their real job is (ensuring the trial is fair) in favor of "get the accused off no matter what" is a threat to the public good.
I'm not convinced 'ensure the trial is fair' and 'get the accused off no matter what' look different when done to someone's best ability.
The defense's job is to defend. This involves providing alternate theories to the facts of the case, showing where there is doubt, doing everything they can to make sure the prosecution's case has to be strong.
You seem to be saying 'well yes they need to be defended but not TOO hard.'
I just hear "We need a return to lynch mobs" when I hear people shit talking the idea of public defenders.
it's always "did you really need to burn down your workplace to prove a point" and never "how was the revenge arson? did you have fun doing revenge arson? were the flames pretty?"
🔥🔥🔥
Context for other users:
On the morning of April 7, 2026, a fire was started at the Kimberly-Clark Distribution Center in Ontario, California. It escalated to a six-alarm fire and took nearly twelve hours to extinguish. The facility was completely destroyed and declared a "total loss". There were no injuries or deaths. An employee who was working in the warehouse is accused of arson.
Authorities stated that the employee had shared videos of himself starting the fire on Facebook, saying "all you had to do was pay us enough to live" and "there goes your inventory" while lighting pallets of toilet paper ablaze.
ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS PAY US ENOUGH TO LIVE
No injuries. No deaths. This was a protest fire. This is why unions are important, to prevent frustrations like these, to ensure people are paid enough to live.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Dumb question, but (taking the motive at face value) how would a union specifically have prevented this as opposed to warehouse just paying workers more?
"Anything destructive is good if you sound like a communist."
Do you think the heroic impoverished proletariat is doing better or worse now that their workplace has burned down and they can no longer perform labor in exchange for wages? Was this an effective action to empower the heroic impoverished proletariat, or was it destructive and helped nobody except as it provided masturbation material to communists?
Do you actually and literally know what they were actually paid in the actual real life world or are you just assuming that because the concept of money makes you upset, any violence and destruction was justified?
No injuries. No deaths.
THROUGH NO FAULT OF HIS!
He never told any of the other workers to leave and they were in fact looking for him before they had to evacuate. It is sheer luck that nobody was killed because the arsonist couldn't have cared less if everyone else there had died.
This was a protest fire.
Protest fire. Arson. Sure looks the same to me.
This is why unions are important, to prevent frustrations like these, to ensure people are paid enough to live.
I don't think "Unionize or there will be arson" is the great reasoning you think it is.
Regarding the warehouse arson, he wasn’t working for Kimberly-Clark, whose inventory he destroyed, he was working for a contracted inventory management company. So his “protest” didn’t actually make a point, his employers didn’t actually lose anything except maybe a contract for that one warehouse which can be offset by firing his co-workers. Kimberly-Clark likely had insurance, but will suffer some loss due to higher premiums, but they didn’t control his pay.
"Pay me enough to live or I burn their stuff now?" I think is a weird threat

This an actual question to me or an additional item towards "all all is political" being bullshit.
Cause I feel you could do a 'something something ablist' with it. "OH how you could post this, no one's going to be able to read it, oh woe" or "OH my god what hidden dogwhistle are you HIDING in this you evil person you cause CLEARLY-"
Often I find with the 'art is political crowd' it's often they have their answer already. They just bend the art to fit it.
animated fantasy films just don’t make fucked up evil castles like they used to
[ID: king haggard’s castle from the last unicorn (1982), the horned king’s castle from the black cauldron (1985), and maleficent’s castle from sleeping beauty (1959) /end ID]
aesthetic of the day is fucked up evil castles
Wizards (1977)
I think the claim would be better if more modern animated evil castles were shown which..... I can't think of any off the top of my head? Certainly not animated but I can't remember the last Fantasy 3d film with castles off the top of my head.... Tangled?
Ah shit, he’s is calling Cthulhu again..
Cthulhu takes a lot of water though, I think this is opening to the Dreamlands which probably means King in Yellow
the "I'll teach you everything" meme redraw from twt ehehe
(ok maybe she won't teach her anything but she tried)
I kinda like this ... bit?
I dunno what else to call it, the one who thinks they're sauve, charming, has swag or rizz, you know the one doing all the work to get the girl... or guy, or partner whatever. And then.....
They get to a point of "Aw fuck I didn't think I'd get this far"
I think Lois should get to punch Lex whenever she wants, but I'll settle for her getting to punch him every other season. So if we play our cards right, she should get to do it again by season 5.
...So I'm gonna need MAWS to get renewed for a season 4 ASAP.
I love how Slade(that is slade right) whole while injured is still an acomplished combantant and has near super human reaction time;
Sees this car break through. Sees Lois get out. Sees her charging Lex with her hand up
and just lets it happen. There's like probably 5 points he probably could have stopped this(hell he probably could have moved Lex the moment he hard the car from outside). But nah, let him get punched.
Wonder how done with Lex Slade himself is.
That's SUPERMAN right there.
And yet people seem mad that he should have just hit her and moved on.
the leftism leaving people's bodies when they continue to hound someone over behavior that was accounted for, apologized for, and corrected years ago - people got on board for prison abolition then said "and let's replace that with perpetual ostracization and shame to the point where they can no longer function in society :) this is better because We, The Community, are pushing them toward suicide"
Most modern leftists do not even abide by their own belief system. They just want to be hardcore bullies but towards Straight White Cis Men™ (sometimes cis women) instead.
I mentioned this before, but I got the whole "of course you've had nothing to worry about, you're white" treatment from my Mexican roommate, and gave him a lecture about the bullshit I've dealt with from leftist extremists that had him apologizing to me for saying that.
they don't care about making the world a better place for everyone. they just want to be the ones in control. they aren't humanitarians, they're bullies with a self righteousness streak that tells them what they're doing is the correct thing when anyone with a conscience and working moral compass would be horrified at the mere thought.
I'd argue that it's not just straight whites they want to bully, they just want to bully.
However, they tend to bully under the mask of "Look I'm progressive" or "Look I'm a good person". Of COURSE the White Person acts like this, typical. OF COURSE the MAN thinks like this. OF COURSE the Straight would react like this. OH shut up Catholic. And on and on.
But it doesn't seem to actually stop there cause you've probably seen how they treat some Minorities that step out of line. I'm not even saying ones that fully go against them; Lefties do anything from 'shush no I am talking for your struggles' to them or even ripping out old racial labels because clearly they're a 'bad minority' that needs to be bullied back in line(them calling some black politicians/judges uncle toms for example)
And to say nothing about how they do their little oppression judging at times to see which side they should land on.
They're bullies. They just want to make it seem like they're doing it for the 'right reason'.
