sometimes there are small moments or throwaway dialogue lines about bashir that seem like fun little nods to the augment reveal until you remember the writers didn't know that was coming and then they're just insane

current example is from '...Nor The Battle To The Strong' when jake asks about bashir after getting scared and running away during a shelling:

Jake: Did Doctor Bashir make it back alright?

Kirby: [...] He's got plasma burns on his arm and shoulder. I don't know how he managed, but he carried the generator back here by himself.

when I watched this scene I had a little chuckle like 'hmm I wonder why wink wink'... and then I remembered that the people writing this episode didn't know what I know. at the time of this episode's creation, it was deadass written as jake ran away, and then doctor twink carried a generator — an established two man job, mind — BY HIMSELF all the way back to the cave WHILE INJURED running purely on homosexual audacity and a dream. insane.

Re-listened to some Muse today and since i'm still very much in the middle of my ds9 wormhole, I had a thought.

The lyrics to Compliance go very well with the character of Weyoun (all clones of them except 6 who was honeybun). He is the sweetest little fanatical dictator you could find but that's why he is so dangerous.

He convinced people to trust the Dominion so well that even Cardassians just ate it all up. Why ? Because he believed every word he said about the goodness of Founders (1) and he knew how to turn the words to grab the attention of his audience (2).

Just finished watching ds9 for the first time (definitely not the last ! I loved it so much !)

However I have been betrayed by french dub. It was the only way I could watch the series (for free) since it's older and they f*ing CUT the goodbye scene between Bashir and Garak on Cardassia in 7x26 !
