I think I'm in love with that one genre wherein people research magic as if it is just yet another subject to study
in less than three years we will have adults born in the 2000’s
the funny thing about this is that both people born in the 2000s are reblogging this freaking out because they arent ready to be adults and people who were born before the 2000s are freaking out about how they feel old and that it cant be happening because all people born in the 2000s are like 4
in less than two years we will have adults born in the 2010’s

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.
Asking tumblr is like screaming into the void I fear but I’m looking for sci-fi book recs.
I loved The Aurora Cycle by Amy Kaufman and Jay Kristoff, Iron Widow and Heavenly Tyrant by Xiran Jay Zhao. (Among others but these are my most memorable/most recent reads). I’m already planning on reading Tamsyn Muir’s Locked Tomb series and the Fifth Season.

In an instant so we all don't die
Then I'll become the monster
I will deal the blow

Game show called "What's Wrong With You" where a bunch of doctors compete to see who can diagnose a mystery illness (chronically ill patient whose lab results keep coming back normal despite obvious symptoms) first and most accurately. Pros:
Doctors paying off their medical loans with prize money
Chronically ill people getting free testing (MRIs, CAT scans, X-Rays, bloodwork, etc) and possibly a diagnosis
You can ding points for 'anxiety' and 'you just need to lose some weight'
Doctors are incentivized to find an answer, not just find something billable
Cons:
HIPAA
Wrong Diagnoses made because they were rushing
You can ding points for
‘anxiety’ and 'you just
need to lose some weight’

If there is such a competition, I would love to participate in it
Bio's Big Book Recommendations
Here is a list of my favorite books and why you should read them.
Kaiju Battlefield Surgeon
By Matt Dinniman
This book is fucking bonkers, I don't recommended any normal person read this. But it is one of my favorites. It's the stuck in a video game Win to Exit trope but so gut wretchingly horrific it will make you sick.
The Blacktongue Thief
By Christopher Buehlman
The world building in this one is *chef's kiss*. Some of the most real feeling gritty fantasy I've ever come across. It's also absolutely hilarious.
The Tainted Cup
By Robert Jackson Bennett
Like Sherlock, but in a beautifully fleshed out fantasy fungal biopunk setting. With Leviathans. A unique and utterly gripping murder whodunnit.
Dungeon Crawler Carl
By Matt Dinniman
This series you may have heard of, It is so crazy and fantastic. It's honestly unsurprising it has gained so much traction because It is definitely one of the best lit RPGs out there right now.
The Lesser Dead
By Christopher Buehlman
My favorite vampire book. Buehlman's writing style is just so clever and entertaining. His ability to make you laugh one minute then make you sick to your stomach the next is really something. This one is full of gristle.
These recommendations also extend to the sequels of these books. A Drop of Corruption by Robert Jackson Bennett is just as good as the first one. The Daughters' War by Christopher Buehlman is a very different feeling book, as it is a prequel from another character's perspective but it fleshes the world building to a gorey extent.
It’s Fourth of July Eve so make sure to leave some milk and cookies out for Captain America
I THOUGHT AFTER FOUR YEARS YOU PEOPLE WOULD LET THIS DIE AND YET AGAIN I OPEN THIS CURSED APP TO FIND MORE NOTES ON THIS POST
why are people so obsessed with everything being an app? I keep seeing so many things people just asking for whatever to have an app and it's just like. or you could just use the fucking website. websites do exist. you can use them. it doesn't need to be an app.
nobody love website anymore.... terrible. love is losing. share if you still love website
KICK THE CAN!
Let’s play the biggest game of kick the can on the internet.
To kick the can, reblog it. I wanna see how long this can go on for.
the oldest reblogs for this post that i can find are from january 2nd of 2013. this can has been getting kicked around tumblr for almost 13½ years now
And yet somehow this is my first time kicking it!
The Odyssey but retold as a low-stakes modern adventure of one guy out with his girlfriend leaving the bar with his buddies to do just one (1) simple thing real quick, it'll take like 15 minutes tops, he'll be right back, but then some bullshit happens and the trip keeps getting more complicated as more bullshit keeps happening while he just tries to get back to the bar because he promised his girlfriend that he'd get back and he knows that she's still there because she told him she'd wait there.
And by the time he finally gets back it's almost 3 am and the bar is about to close while she's sitting there stone cold sober, surrounded by 5 drunk guys unsuccessfully trying to convince her to give up on waiting for him and go home with one of them instead. And the guy shows up to proceed to beat the shit out of them before explaining himself to her like hey sorry bullshit kept happening, my phone fell into a storm drain and my wallet got stolen when I was trying to find someone who'd borrow me a phone so I could call and
His girlfriend had been fending off the 5 drunk guys for most of the evening by explaining that even if she was going to ditch her boyfriend, she can't possibly leave without finishing her beer, which she is keeping perpetually full via careful sleight of hand where she's just pouring it back and forth into and out of the pitcher.
However the drunk guys are also drinking, and eventually she can't afford to buy another pitcher for the table so she can't keep up the ever-full beer glass trick. At this point she has to resort to setting up the pool trick shot that she's never seen anyone but her boyfriend pull off, and says she'll leave with whoever manages the shot first.
That buys her another hour or so and then, finally, her boyfriend makes it back. He looks like shit, hair down and just a mess, he's wearing an entirely different jacket that he got from an alley, and barely recognizable—especially to 5 guys who've been drunk for hours now. He lurks for a minute, finds out what's going on, and proceeds to pull off the trick shot first try. Throws the jacket off, fixes his hair with a hair tie his girlfriend lends him, finally looks like himself again, and THEN beats the shit out of them with the pool cue.
yuh i was there, that's how it happened
What an unequaled gift for disaster you have
Happy 10th anniversary of my Uprooted readings I guess
illustration of irina and miryem from naomi novik's "spinning silver"! I read this book over the christmas period (appropriately, as it's a very wintry tale) and it reignited all my old love for eastern european folklore. i might do some more illustrations for it if the inspiration stays with me
spinning silver is funny as fuck because the staryk king and miryem arranged their own arranged marriage. like they're both complaining and furious but they came up with that idea themselves
Spinning Silver Heroines The moneylender's daughter, the farmer's daughter and the duke's daughter. Currently reading Spinning Silver from Naomi Novik, and wanna to try sketches portraits of the three heroines, Miryem, Wanda and Irina.
