give it up for girls with vaginas and boys with penises
pause i forgot cis people exist this was intended as a celebration of bottom surgery
i was training a young person at work, and she referred to sexual assault as "SA" out loud, and i immediately was like, "no, it's sexual assault, call it what it is," bc idgaf if the algorithm overlords have taught y'all that you should fear direct language, how tf do any of you expect to ever address real issues with any amount of seriousness if you can't even say the words? imagine an advocate looking a sexual assault survivor in the eyes and asking "did he grape you?" it's absolutely fucking absurd, but these young interns and new hires are coming into an environment where we deal with survivors of all different kinds of abuse, and they're coming with the mindset that the words are as bad as the actions, and that makes them shitty at the job and look juvenile af
i HATE self-censorship for a lot of reasons, but being in crisis work makes it even more frustrating. who are you censoring for? like i am being so fr, WHO are you censoring for? have you even thought it through? people who have been raped know that they have been raped. if someone attempts suicide or is grieving someone who did, saying "sewer slide" isn't going to protect them from any of the feelings. a murder victim's family isn't going to feel better bc you said "unalived" instead of murdered. if anything, it's just extremely invalidating and othering. it's saying "what happened to you is so bad that i won't even say the word," which is NOT trauma-informed care. you are not protecting survivors/victims when you self-censor. the ONLY things you protect when you self-censor are the puritanical ideologies that are being encouraged by rich fascists who want your money and obedience
say the fucking words, guys. just say the goddamn words before i go insane!!!
the idea that every summer will be as hot if not hotter than this for the rest of my life is unbearable i need to (remembers suicide jokes are bad for my mental health) murder an oil executive
i wonder if my dogs understand why i wiggle my weirdly dexterous front paws at them
Anyway this disability pride month I would like to shoutout disabled folks whose creativity has suffered because of their condition. I’m talking people with hand tremors and pain that stop them from drawing, knitting, and playing instruments. People whose thinking has become so disorganized that nothing they write makes sense to other people. People with chronic pain who can no longer dance. People so over medicated in a fruitless attempt to maintain stability that the wells of their imagination have run dry.
I see you and I love you. You are more than your creative output. You are not a shell of what you used to be. You are a whole, complete person, regardless of what your creativity has been, is now, or will be in the future.
Hey. Why isn’t the moon landing a national holiday in the US. Isn’t that fucked up? Does anyone else think that’s absurd?
It was a huge milestone of scientific and technological advancement. (Plus, at the time, politically significant). Humanity went to space! We set foot on a celestial body that was not earth for the first time in human history! That’s a big deal! I’ve never thought about it before but now that I have, it’s ridiculous to me that that’s not part of our everyday lives and the public consciousness anymore. Why don’t we have a public holiday and a family barbecue about it. Why have I never seen the original broadcast of the moon landing? It should be all over the news every year!
It’s July 20th. That’s the day of the moon landing. Next year is going to be the 54th anniversary. I’m ordering astronaut shaped cookie cutters on Etsy and I’m going to have a goddamn potluck. You’re all invited.
Hey. Hey. Tumblr. Ides of March ppl. We can do this
Hell yeah moon holiday
Ooh coming up we should celebrate
PITCH: We call it Moon Day, and then every 7 years when it falls on a Monday, that's an even BIGGER deal and we call that Moon Day Monday and go absolutely apeshit about it (the next Moon Day Monday is in 2026 so we have a couple trial runs first)
MOON DAY MOON DAY MOON DAY
moon day is 20th July!!!
Scheduling this a day earlier to remind you all and myself about the Moon Day tomorow!
Happy moon day to all who celebrate
This is your reminder to prep for Moon Day on July 20th.
MOON DAY MONDAY THIS MONTH NOT A DRILL!!!!!

people on this site will be like "PROUD TO BE A DEFORMED FREAK" and they have self harm scars or clinodactyly or something. it has to fucking stop
in case it's not clear: deformed is a slur used against people with major visible differences (limb differences and facial differences). the word "differences" in this context is a replacement for the more commonly used "deformities". it refers to significant, lifelong differences in the shape/size of a limb, absence of a limb, or major facial abnormalities such as those caused by certain genetic syndromes.
while major burns and scarring can cause visible differences, it would be highly unlikely for the vast majority of self harm scars to fall into this category. this isn't to say that people with self harm scars don't experience forms of discrimination or maltreatment, or aren't made to feel bad for showing their bodies! that absolutely happens, but as someone with both self harm scars and a limb difference, i can tell you the way i'm treated for showing my scarred arms vs the way i'm treated for showing my legs are very different. it's an important topic to discuss, but it doesn't mean you are "deformed".
minor variations in appearance, such as clinodactyly (a curved finger), low-set ears or a high-arched palate, affect around 1 in 5 people and are not considered deformities/visible differences. a limb difference means a major difference in the fixed shape of a limb - for example, having severely curved, absent or shortened bones. hypermobility, mild foot abnormalities such as pes cavus, and reduced range of motion are not limb differences. while some people with these conditions might have been described with the word "deformed" or feel it resonates with them, they are not part of the group whose lifelong oppression has been perpetuated by the word "deformed", and therefore should not "reclaim" it.
this isn't about invalidating anyone or gatekeeping a word - it's about the way those with limb/facial differences are almost always mistreated and swept under the rug by the rest of the disabled community, and the very real harm that is done to our community when conversations about us and our oppression do not include us. i was really excited to see that discussion of the specific oppression focused by those with limb/facial differences has been increasing on tumblr, and the rise of terms like "deformimisia". however, once again, very few people are making any attempt to listen to us and our experiences, and the conversation is dominated by those with minor differences who wouldn't traditionally be considered "deformed". even when the conversation is literally about us, we're excluded.
tldr: calling yourself a deformed freak with no critical analysis or input from our community isn't punk, it's ableist.
reblog this instead of meaningless posts that go "people with limb differences are all so awesome and cool"
as someone with minor hand and foot differences, can confirm, the only person that notices is me when i try and fail to buy shoes that fit, i cannot reclaim this slur but i support those who can's ability to deck you if you use it wrong <3
Trans related meme I found on Pinterest
everyone be quiet. marsha with her snoopy.
no hands were bit when dogs were fed
the dogs were lain asleep instead
cause they knew when all was said and done
they'd be free to play and run
their throats did hurt and blood was lost
there's nothing good without a cost
and in their pain they looked to see
a future they'd be running free
time does pass and wounds do heal
they jump around with newfound zeal
so when it came down to me
the pain of a spay was an easy fee
i just got spayed like a good dog :3
being disabled and lgbt is such a horrible curse because you will see the most ableist take on earth online and you're like "oh surely this is some right-wing fascist loser" and then you look at the person who said it and there's pronouns in their bio. and it's like, how did we get here? but the reality is that a lot of abled people (and often disabled people who are intolerant of different disabilities) are just not even willing to confront the idea that they are capable of punching down on other marginalized groups
like i don't know who needs to hear this but you are Not as progressive as you think you are if you're saying stuff like the R slur, "jobless behavior", making fun of nonverbal people, mocking physical differences, using psychotic as an insult, or calling people "lazy" for using disability aids. even if you're gay!
Thanks tumblr
