Pairing: Bart Allen/Preston Lindsay
Summary:
Set three years after the conclusion of Impulse, it's summer in Manchester, Alabama once again. Preston Lindsay, now eighteen years old and enjoying his last summer before college begins, finds himself once again reminiscing on the past and on Bart Allen. Three years and there's been no word from his best friend. But one day he reappears and neither Preston or Bart are the same again.
Excerpt:
The voice drew him back. It drew him back in time, way waaaaaaaaaay back. Just like Alice finding her way to Wonderland, his mind followed a brown hare down the rabbit hole as he was pulled back to junior high, back to when the sun shined brighter, when each day meant a new adventure with his best friend with his funny quirks and ways. He heard his voice and knew it shouldn’t have been possible. His hand trembled the slightest. His mouth felt dry. He didn’t want to lower his camera and be disappointed that his ears were tricking him. He didn’t want to know that he had just misheard the voice, but he could have sworn he heard him, he heard....
“Bart?”

Excerpt/Summary:
Long gone are the days of the boy, the stripling hero, playing pretend in tailored Armani suits on Vandal Savage’s buck. Never would he go back to being that scared hapless teenager, that boy, continually used, lied to, and chewed up and spat out by the world. There would be no more sweating over the deep fryer of the Clucky Chicken, no more slaving for minimum wage to pay his rent when he had such infinite potential, no more wearing that ridiculous chicken suit, no more passing out flyers on the street regardless of rain or shine, and no more dreaming of the simplest of necessities like a refrigerator.
Ray Terrill had money now.
He had power. And he wanted more.
He would have what he wanted.
Exactly when he wanted it.
Fifteen years into the future, Ray strikes a deal with Vandal Savage that neither man can refuse.

Summary:
Set in the Ruby and Sapphire canon and events of Emerald (and a bit of DPPt): After his loss to Brendan and the loss of his title as Champion, Steven seeks comfort and advice from his long time friend Wallace in Sootopolis City. No longer Champion he begins to question himself and who he is. Inspired by Steven's letter in R/S/E where he says, "I've decided to do a little soul-searching and train on the road. I don't plan to return home for some time."
Excerpt
So he was no longer champion. After so many years this was suddenly it. Steven was happy for Brendan, happy for how much the young trainer and his friend May had grown on their respective journeys, happy they’ve accomplished their own dreams as trainers, but at the end of the day as his Skarmory and him flew on the wind, he couldn’t help, but feel a tender and painful pang in his chest as well.
In their descent he made out Sootopolis City. This was where, of all the places he could have gone (Rustboro, Mossdeep, even back to Ever Grande City), that Steven had chosen to go. Of all the places he wanted to be first as simply another trainer was in Sootopolis with Wallace.

Summary:
Match is away on a mission with the Suicide Squad. Newly married, he misses his husband Thad, deeply only to find out Thad has been missing him just as much if not more.
OR
Match and Thad have phone sex.
Excerpt:
Leaning against the balcony railing of his hotel room, Match let out a sigh as he looked out at the sight that stretched out before him. It was a clear and pristine view of the sunrise as it bled out over the sparkling expanse of sea, reds and oranges and pinks reflected across the crisp blue surface as far as the eye could see. The colors shimmered and shined with each ebb and flow of the waves as they lapped at the warm sandy beach before him. He couldn’t help but close his eyes in this moment and stand completely still as he soaked in those early rays of sunlight on his skin and breathed in deep the salty sea air as it flowed in on a breeze.
Thad hadn’t been exaggerating when he had said that an early morning overlooking the ocean would be absolutely breathtaking. Match was certain he could have stood there forever taking in the sights and the sounds and relishing in the peace of the moment. It was just too bad that he was here enjoying this moment alone. That this nice view and even nicer room was the product of business and not pleasure. If it had been pleasure, he would have had Thad by his side that was for sure.
He opened his eyes and let out another sigh. But it wasn’t. And Thad wasn’t here with him either.
At least he had this view and this nice room, and it was all for himself. Some might call that a good trade off, a nice perk to the job, but Match wasn’t certain of that in the least when it took him so far away from home and from Thad for so long. But he was needed close on hand for this latest mission according to Waller. He had to be here. He was half of their muscle. Their Kryptonian. A passable substitute when you wanted Superman on the team. At least she had sprung for some nice rooms for the Squad to keep them quiet and content before the mission started.
He twisted the gold ring on his finger.
Still this sight would have absolutely been better with Thad here with him. They could have laid out on the beach all day, swam in the ocean, checked out the city and the local cuisine too, and, and, and he was doing it again. He just couldn’t help how easily his thoughts strayed to his husband who was halfway across the world. They’d only been married for a few short months but all he wanted nowadays was just to be with him. To experience life and what may come together. But this job with the Suicide Squad had taken him away from him again and so soon too. He let out a huff and a sigh that made his shoulders sink.
He must have seemed like a goddamn overgrown puppy-dog with the way he was sighing and sulking away while in paradise, but…he just missed him so bad.
Was Thad missing him like he was? Was he alright on his own?
…Of course he was.
This was Thad he was talking about. The same man who had stayed busy in his underground lab for a week to build a fully functional mechanical body for Craydl to pilot along with all sorts of secondary components like weapons and defensive mechanisms and more.
When he had asked him why, Thad responded easily with a nonchalant shrug, ‘Just for fun.’
Match let out a chuckle and shook his head at the memory. Of course, his husband would be more than okay. If he was still up, then he was probably lost in some project right now. Muttering beneath his breath his own thoughts to himself, unaware he was doing it, or talking to Craydl, collaborating and conspiring with the technoplasmic AI on their latest project.
His chest filled with warmth at the thought of him. All he wanted was to hear his heartbeat and its familiar rhythm. He needed that familiar sound he had grown so used to listening to in the dead of night as they slept in their home and in their bed as they laid wound around one another, to settle himself and set his mind at ease.
He just wanted to know that he was alright too.
A little peek wouldn't hurt.
Match closed his eyes and concentrated.
A game of chess between Orion and Lightray leads to confessions and unexpected hair pulling.

Submitter's comment:
"No creature stirs my heart like you do. No one makes me suffer with want the way you do. You, who knows my heart and the dark chambers that lurk amongst it almost as well as I do, owns it in full. You, Lightray, who lights a path through them when I cannot."
Honestly what else is there even to sayyyyyy, let this dialogue speak for itself. Okay there is more to say it's so on target for Orion writing yayyyyy

Summary:
A short exploratory fic about the relationship between Thad and Iris as they tolerate each other while living under the same roof, haircuts, identity, resemblances, and understanding.
(Set in the same universe as my fic, Second Chances, where Thad has come to temporarily live in Barry and Iris' home after a set of circumstances has led Barry to giving Thad a second chance.)

Excerpt:
“Sunshine!” Meloni’s voice rang with such love and excitement as she wrapped her arms tightly around her Bart, her son. Her sunshine.
‘Sunshine.’ It was a nickname Kon was intimately familiar with though the cadence, the sound, the voice...just how that one simple word was said was entirely different.
Heres another list of fics that I haven't been able to get out of my head because i need to rid of them before exams.
on practical applications of qualitative analysis by merils is literally the sweetest thing I've read. its actually the reason that i followed them on tumblr because they mentioned it once like a year ago and i was waiting for it to be posted. It's a cute Timkon fic where Tim uses a spreadsheet to figure out his feelings for Kon and it just makes me smile. Its beautiful, heartwarming, and just shows how stupid both of them are, I love it.
Speaking of merils, treading water was posted yesterday but it has already immortalised itself in my wall of fame. Its a pre-new 52 timkon pre-slash fic that explores the emotional and physical scars of both tim and kon post kons death. It is so accurate and just makes me want to hug them both until they feel better. It is a bit more heavy as it deals with both of their suicidal and self destructive thoughts so keep that in mind. But anything by merils is just perfect and makes my heart explode with love.
Shakin' Limbs Tend to End Up Bent or Broken by Peanutbutterassistant is the final timkon for this fic rec. It's set pre infinite crisis and deals with Kons mindcontrolled/bald era. Its so sweet and its also a pre-slash that just writes their love and devotion for each other so beautifully. They're so in love and they just don't know it. Ugh my heart.
binary stars by kiddevil is possibly my favourite connorkyle fic. It's so beautifully written and the characterisation for EVERY character is just on point. It's basically just Kyle realising he's down bad for Connor and freaking out and I love it. It's so accurate and amazing and I love it, it makes me smile every time.
The Games We Play For Love by SleepySpeedster is the first Lightrion fic I read and my favourite by far. It's so beautiful the way that everything is written. One of my favourite parts about New Gods is the language and that is just written so well. Lightray and Orion play chess and Orion can't stop thinking about Lightrays long hair. And then they kiss 😊. All of these fics just have me making that face. Anyway, SleepySpeedster wrote this so beautifully and passionately and I keep coming back to reread it. I love it.
That's all for now. This time, one person actually asked for this so I took this as an invitation to get these brain worms out there. Show these amazing writers some much needed love.
hey uh new type of ao3 spam comment just dropped. (I know it's spam because the fic they left this comment on . doesn't have chapters. lmfao). Report this kinda comment as spam and don't take it personally it is literally recycled bullshit
Also y'all this really ties into how impactful comments are and why it's so encouraged to leave comments and leave NICE ones. If I hadn't known this was spam, and if I'd gotten this on my currently-updating fic, it would've crushed me and likely convinced me to never update again. Adversely, even one nice comment from someone is enough to motivate me to write and share more. If you read a fic you liked, tell the author that! If you're reading an unfinished fic, leave a comment to say you're excited for more, or comment throughout chapters even! It really is so easy and quick to do, and it's not only nice but it can also completely alter a writer's motivation and inspiration
Fanfic writers, please be aware that for some reason having bots spam fics with negative comments is a thing now. Not sure what anyone gets out of spreading misery, but just know it's not anything to do with your fic. I got one that was like, "This fic is a delight ... just kidding, it's unfunny and tedious." It was very clearly unrelated to the content of the fic but for someone else it might have been heartbreaking.

Excerpt:
As he pulled off his helmet Orion could hear the telltale clunk and clatter of a chessboard and its pieces placed upon a table in the Justice League Embassy rec. room. And like a siren song in the dead of night Orion followed it to its source already knowing who he would find waiting for him.
A late night game of chess had become a part of Lightray’s routine ever since the two of them had joined JLI. His companion had become taken with the Earth game of strategy, its uniform checkered board, and matching wits with their JLI comrades. He would pull in J’onzz, Da Costa, Kord, even Gardner, and the others when he could, but most often Lightray asked him. What had become a part of Lightray’s routine in turn had slowly and inevitably become a part of Orion’s own routine as well.
For no matter where one of the New Genesian pair was, the other was not too far behind.

Summary:
Match and Thad’s lives intersect once more after so many years. They’ve gone through so much and now together again they find comfort in each other and that things have changed.
Excerpt:
How long had they been like this? Thad wondered. Bare limbs splayed from beneath the blanket, sharing in each other’s warmth, Match’s arm wrapped around him, his head pressed to Match’s chest listening to the other’s heart beat strong and solid in his ear as the seconds of the early morning passed them by. They looked like some damnable couple.
‘We’re not.’ Thad has to to remind himself and wonders what Match thinks when he sees that they’re close together like this. In his mind, this situation was a mutual agreement, one silently made, and nothing more. It was temporary. He reminds himself. A distraction from the loneliness and the confounding world they were trying to make sense of. Heroes and villains came and went. Death wasn’t always permanent in their world, but it didn’t hurt any less. People changed sides too. Life, death, revival, ruination, redemption, and…limbo. It was their complicated form of normalcy. It was too tiring to consider, and too much to worry about when it came to semantics. They had just been happy to see one another when their paths had finally crossed again. Thad had never considered the possibility. It was a habit of his to not entertain hope or hold onto the idea of a permanent happiness. It never was for him after all. He had to accept that.
Match shifted at his side and Thad couldn't help but let out a sigh.
For now they had settled for a day by day approach. It was easier that way. Less to think about, and for a mind that went a mile a minute like Thad’s, it was better that way. Slipping from the sheets and from Match’s grasp and the warmth of the bed Thad began another day.
He didn't want to think about the end just yet.
