I do sorta wonder if women are likely to identify with so many labels and categories they perceive as "more marginalized" because the marginalization they experience as women already isn't taken seriously even in progressive spaces

I think you are 100% correct about this and I wanted to add my two cents if that's cool.

I think this is especially common in modern day leftist scenes, especially the queer ones. I see time and time again that these spaces while claiming to be feminist will have males at the very top. Women, particularly straight women, will struggle to be valued and taken seriously in these scenes because they do not have enough "oppression points".

The most wily among them will try and stack these points, sometimes claiming to be neurodivergent gender fluid disabled lesbians with a billion different labels to describe themselves (and, incidentally, to explain away their toxic behavior any time they are called on it). It's not enough to just be a woman, because being a woman doesn't get you shit.

So they nihilistically try and identify themselves to the top of the food chain, in hopes that they can grab some semblance of respect for themselves- maybe if they tell everyone about their trauma, people will respect them and what they've been through? Maybe then people will listen to what they have to say? But of course they don't, and they never will, because they are operating in a system that is run by and for men. I think what we are witnessing now is the fallout resulting in feminism being co-opted by men who want to destroy it from the inside, and who in some ways have been successful in this.

I think it is the duty of every women who has peaked to find solidarity with her sisters and let them know that they don't have to be doing this bullshit anymore, that there is a movement for them that will respect their humanity and their struggle. We need women to break free from this left/right dichotomy if we are to save ourselves.
