Hello! Welcome! And other introduction words!

Well, I suppose I already said hello- but what’s the point of words if you don’t repeat them?

Hello! I’m Solar Berry(or just Solar or Berry if you want) I go by she/her but if you call me any other pronouns I don’t mind!

Here’s some things I enjoy: The Mysterious Benedict Society (book only) CBS Elementary, my little pony, ride the cyclone, nerdy prides must die, the guy who didn’t like musicals, legally blonde the musical, the sims four, avatar the last air bender, the librarians 2014, HABROMANIA, madoka magica, saiki k, moulin rouge, itsfunneh/KREW, fashion history, carmen sandiego, call the mid wife, five nights at Freddy’s, the summer hikaru died, sort of Percy Jackson, Jujustu Kaisen, once upon a time, Marvel universe pre 2022, Alice in wonderland- and just so so much more! These are all things I may post about as well.

some facts so perhaps you can know me more as a person, even if the facts are maybe not the best thing to know about me lol

Honestly I don’t really know what to share so um if these seem like really weird or pointless things to know about me- that’s why

•I’ve gotten over feeling irrevocably sad ever time I listen to mitski, which I consider a accomplishment

•I hate Joan’s main plot in seasons 6-7 so much, so expect a lot of posts about what I think could have gone differently

•My favorite Tmbs characters are Kate and Sticky- though I really do love them all, even Mortis unnamed partner

in may the question paper for NEET leaked. that's the national medical entrance exam. over 2.2 million students took it. cancelled. years of studying, families' savings poured into coaching, gone overnight because someone sold the paper. students died by suicide after. these were kids who wanted to be doctors.

and out of that came a protest movement. a gen z group called the cockroach janta party, started by a 30 year old named abhijeet dipke, got 22 million instagram followers within DAYS. they've been doing a sit-in at jantar mantar in delhi demanding education minister dharmendra pradhan resign.

and then there's sonam wangchuk. if you've watched 3 idiots, he's the real engineer the character was based on. built solar schools in ladakh. invented ice stupas so himalayan villages have water. spent his whole life on education. he's 59 and he's been on hunger strike for 17+ days now. reporters went to see him this week and he was too weak to talk. and the troll armies are calling him "anti national" and "foreign funded". a man starving himself for other people's children. that's the thing here, anyone who asks a question is suddenly a traitor.

it's not one incident, it's everywhere you look:

• infrastructure worth thousands of crores failing within months of the ribbon cutting. tunnels collapsing in regions where heavy rain is a guarantee, not a surprise.

• youth unemployment near 10% for ages 15 to 29, 13.6% in cities. in a country of 1.42 billion where more than half the population is young.

• only about the top 3% of indians earn above 10 lakh a year. meanwhile billionaire wealth keeps ballooning and the headlines celebrate it.

• manipur burned for over two years. an ethnic conflict, tens of thousands displaced, and the prime minister barely said the word manipur while it happened.

• journalists raided. critics' houses bulldozed. activists sitting in jail for years without trial under laws like UAPA. our press freedom ranking has cratered.

• even the petrol is a fight now, ethanol blending pushed through while drivers complain about their engines and get no straight answers.

what i'm asking:

if you're not indian: share this. our media mostly won't cover any of it because the big outlets are owned by the same billionaires the government serves. the only reason wangchuk's fast is getting any coverage is people refusing to look away.

if you ARE indian: speak up even if you're comfortable. especially if you're comfortable. join the protests. add to this, correct me, translate it. staying quiet is a choice when nothing in this post touches your life.

What I think every tmbs character I could think of, would have as their favorite kind of art style/painting style and era!

Sticky: I think he absolutely adores the impressionist and art nouveau styles, he probably knows a few obscure artists of the time, but can’t help but love Monet or Alphonse Mucha. Kate: She probably likes the Naïve style, but also medieval and Rocco art and paintings. William Hogarth maybe? I’m always tied between the silly ideas for Kate and the more mature ones.

Reynie: Ancient mosaics for sure, not really a painting style but I think he definitely likes ancient art like Roman statues or pottery. Painting style wise, I think he likes realism or impressionist styles because of the attention to detail. Constance: Early modern or post impressionist. I think she definitely likes more classic and stereotypical art styles, with maybe a soft spot for abstract(the statues in the tv show) she’d definitely like Frida Kahlo, and a mixture of realism and abstract. Mr. Benedict: I think he enjoys and finds the beauty in all sorts of art styles, but particularly enjoys artist like Norman Rockwell or styles like American realism.

Milligan: Probably enjoys art that relates to some one expressing their feelings/emotions, like abstract or expressionism, and he likes analyzing how the feelings appear in the brushes. Rhonda: She definitely enjoys classic styles where she can spot all the small details, so to me that reads as pre-Raphaelite and modernism.

Number Two: Abstract or pointillism, if I’m being serious. But also, pencil sketches or color pencil works.

S.Q: Expressionist art or wildlife works. I think he marvels at any art, and just tries to think about how he’d paint it no matter the style or technique.

Mr.Curtain:He doesn’t enjoy modern art (as in the 21st century not the style) and thinks art is NOT subjective, and actively says the only real art that deserves attention is realism or just general classics. He pushes this idea onto the students at LIVE who happen to be there relating to art, and basically forces them all to all draw realistic. Miss. Perumal: I think she’s similar to Reynie, but also enjoys classicism. She definitely enjoys artist like Monet or Hogarth. She especially enjoys rococo. Ten Men but generalized: They all can agree that the renaissance had amazing art, but other then that, they argue about what they think looks best a lot. Constantly in fact. Half of them find medieval art funny and great, the other half think it’s disgusting and a waste of arts supplies. Outside of these arguments, they don’t really care for art.

Reynie does super angsty and cringe narration and turns down Miss. Perumal’s offer of adoption because he’s “a lone wolf. That’s the way it’s always been. It’s who he is.”

I’ll change my “all characters are neurotypical” to “Most characters are neurotypical”. The exceptions are Sticky, who as Crow said, gets high and makes out with someone at a party and bam! Anxiety cured :) and Kate, whose ADHD just makes her hyperactive and athletic and “not like other girls™️” and she sells SQ her adderall (which is. Disgusting. This might be the plot line that disgusts me the most as someone who actually needs psychiatric medication. But it’s portrayed as Kate being a hustler and girl boss 💅🏻).

Nicholas yells at the children and criticizes them for the sake of creating more drama

In addition to his stint with drugs, SQ joins a punk band that protests against his dad in an act of rebellion. But not in the good crack fic way. In a “SQ turns into the school bully” kind of way.

The most disturbing of the characters to be neurotypiclified is Jackson and Jillson, who spend their time gossiping about everybody in the school.

The only good thing about this AU is that Milligan and Curtain get in a fist fight in the parking lot behind a Denny’s. Why? Who knows, the plot lines change wildly every season to the point where nothing makes sense.

Noland gets arrested for having an illegal gambling ring on his boat. As Reynie puts it: “another scumbag put away. But I had more pressing things to worry about. Like tomorrow’s big game”.

Constance and Auguste are in a relationship after that dance together during that one scene in the compound (in the field with the ribbons).

Sticky and Reynie are “best friends” yet get into a fist fight in the hallway every season, (like Puck and Finn or Quinn and Santana on glee or something). The show has scenes where they say stuff like “Sticky and Reynie are best friends 🥰” yet the character’s actions make it seem like they hate each other.

They kill off a random main character just to have a dramatic season finale. Probably Rhonda or Number Two.

He’s on the police force investigating the drug ring but Curtain is paying him off.

Sticky “growing up handsome” is just a thing where they do a “three year” time jump and go from having an 13 year old actor playing an 11 year old child to having a 24 year old actor pretending to be a high school freshmen. And they play it like “wow Sticky was so small and ugly before. Now he works out and looks amazing” not at all acknowledging the fact that the character magically aged 10 years in a time gap of only 3 years and implying that every middle and high schooler in the world could look like that if they just lifted a few weighs like it’s not that hard.

Garrison and Curtain are, somehow, the least toxic couple in the entire show. This doesn’t mean their relationship is good, it means that this is where the bar is. They may break up and get back together every single season, but at least they’re consistent.

The kids all use profanity and foul language to sound “mature”. It just makes them sound like rude and unpleasant people who love to insult others.

They do a “plot twist: SQ’s and/or Reynie’s and/or Constance’s birth parents were alive this whole time!” Plot line only to immediately kill them off again because the writers just wanted a twist and had no other plans for the characters.

Jeffers coaches the football team. His character actually doesn’t change much. He’s a pretty bad coach.

Jackson and Jillson are co-head cheerleader and run the school newspaper’s gossip column. Basically, they’re bullies. And so neurotypical to the point where they feel like completely different characters besides their codependent relationship.

It’s because Constance and Auguste skipped a grade (or several). Auguste off the happiness is just as mean as he is in my fic so the two of them spend most of their time insulting people. And yes, none of the romantic relationships in this are good. mainly because it replaces the genuine friendships and found family sibling bonds with trashy romance and cheating plot lines for the drama of it all. There’s no substance behind any of them and it makes you hate the characters for treating each other so badly and then saying stuff like “we’re a family” when they’re obviously not.

Any chance at a decent plot line (for example Curtain running a secret drug empire but then feeling remorse when his own son becomes an addict) is overshadowed by lame plot twists, wasted potential or underdeveloped.

They do that thing they do in Riverdale (I’ve only seen the crack edits on YouTube, but I think I get the basic plot?) where they find one decent twist and it works the first time so they keep repeating it. In Riverdale, they do this with cults and secret societies. For what I gather, there’s a maple syrup cult, a farm cult, a D&D cult, a weird other religious cult I think, and a secret society/cult at a private school (thank you google). In OUAT (it’s been a while since the hyperfixation sorry if I get this wrong) they did this by making characters pregnant. Zelena, Snow, Belle, I forget if there are others, but they all got pregnant, and then they realized having a bunch of babies in every episode was boring because babies are cute in flashback land™️ but in the present they’re really just there to get kidnapped (which did happen a lot) so they did a time jump to fix that. In this mbs trash au (that’s the name now), SQ’s birth parents are still alive, Reynie’s birth parents are still alive, and Constance’s birth parents are still alive. Then the writer’s realize that’s too many characters, so they kill them all off again.

There is a musical episode. It could play into the Theater kid Nathaniel Benedict angle, but instead it grinds the plot to a halt and you just know whatever musical they’re parodying is full of adult themes that make it so uncomfortable to watch when you remember the kids are suppose to be middle school/high schoolers.

After Curtain's redemption arc, the writers don't know what to do with his character. So they just make him a villain again. And he apologizes again. And then he's a villain again. Rinse repeat. (Again, it's been a long time, but recall that happening with Rumpelstiltskin in OUAT for a while). Over time, it makes Curtain less forgivable and likeable, and it makes the other characters look really stupid for trusting him.

As mentioned, the ten men are all corrupt cops on the police force getting paid off by Curtain not to bust his drug operation.

In addition to what I mentioned about Sticky earlier and his "growing up handsome" phase, I'm going to ruin the character further (sorry Sophie). After he "glows up and grows handsome", he makes a point to meanly reject and/or cheat on Jillson, Kate, and Martina, because if any of them wanted a healthy relationship with him, they should have given him a chance when he was a "nice guy" instead of doing other things like...being his friend, being in middle school or just not wanting a relationship at the time. Too late now ladies, you missed out. They had their chance and they blew it. The writers do this to try to make Sticky's character look super cool. He becomes the biggest jerk in the show.

Reynie's angsty monologues get blander and worse every episode. Here's some dialogue for his character: "There we were again. Another year in Stonetown. Just like any other and yet different in so many ways. Sticky, my best friend, had somehow become Mr. Popular and Dewey's biggest competition on the football field. Constance and Auguste were going steady and got internships working in Dr. Garrison's lab so that took up most of their time. As for me and Kate, after our fifth breakup she left Stonetown to go back to the circus. But that suits me just fine. I'm a lone wolf. I always have been. I always will be. It's how I like it. It's who I'm meant to be. Whoever said "no man is an island" clearly never met me. I was born to roam this earth alone."

SQ does the thing where they can't get the actor back for a season and he comes back being like "My dad sent me to boarding school for a whole year, but jokes on him because I met some guys there, and long story short? I'm running a rival drug dealing business". Instead of using this as an opportunity for proper angst that's deserved (Curtain freaking out and feeling remorse because his crimes have led his son to the dangerous world of drug dealing and criminal activity), Curtain finds out and yells at SQ for trying to destroy him and ruin his business and the main focus is their rival drug rings, with zero concern being given to the fact that SQ is now doing drugs.

The adults have so many ridiculous plotlines that make them look irresponsible and immature. The adults in MBS are quirky sure, but that's not the same thing as being immature. Garrison and Curtain have full scream fights in front of SQ and all around the Institute even though they just get back together every time. Nicholas puts insane amounts of pressure on the children to create more drama to the point where he's completely unlikeable. Jeffers encourages his team to take performance enhancing drugs.
