GURL! The tension was building from Riley's Dad passing, the flashbacks and between present-Riley and present-Adam,
But the beginning of chapter eighteen hit me so hard 😭

OK, bear with me 😅 here I go:
So I was on a sabbatical and while away, I was introduced to the Game Changer series thanks to a beautiful gem of a show called Heated Rivalry. I've been since obsessed with Shane, Ilya (and all of the Game Changer characters really).
But I didn't find any loons in my circles and felt so alone IRL 😭. Then, my sabbatical ended (lasted 11 months) and I went back to work.
Had lunch with a group of colleagues - the youngest ones and I'm older than them. We end up talking about the football world cup, formula 1, and other sports that some men consider women can't really have a earnest interest in, hashtag misogyny.
But we can have a genuine interest and find some perks like ... Eye candy 😏
So we share pictures of athletes we find attractive.
Then for the joke I say "well I discovered I might have an interest in hockey now (🤣)" and tell them that I actually am talking about two actors playing hockey players in a TV show 🤭
AND THEN, 2 of them go "wait, you watched HR?? You know Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams??"
And I'm like "Yes! You too?? Praise the lord!"
I finally found my IRL loons, guys!! 🤩😭🥰🥳
Now we're exchanging fanfics recs, smartphone wallpapers, backgrounds for Team meeting (really only one background, the cottage kitchen 🫣🤭), I'm gonna lend them the two RR stand alones, and we can't wait for season 2 we're thinking about viewing parties 🎉

like the way shane was so down to try this out despite it still being a little uncomfy and new because their last sexual experience was SO good. and it IS good! like! it feels good and hot and fun.
because shane thinks they're PLAYING.
like ilya in the bathroom before was softer (still distant, still not the version of himself he was in shane's bed six months ago, but *close*) and nudged him in close and rubbed his fingers along shane's neck and kissed him and teased with him. so like. okay. the want is still there. the Us is still there. he didn't get what he wanted and then no longer had any interest.
which means shane goes into sex being like, "okay. we're trying out a new thing. we checked off vanilla regular sex last time. we're playing a new thing here, and i'm playing, too." (tiny shane smirk when he takes the power back enough to get ilya to give up his power game and fuck him, you will always be famous to me.) and it's good! he's horny as fuck, and ilya being bossy and a little mean is FUN.
BECAUSE he is operating under the idea of Other Ilya being under there, too.
like, okay, no missionary this time. straight to fucking him from behind. but that's okay! ilya did that last time, too, and then he curled up behind shane and snuggled him and kissed him after. he's not kissing shane's shoulders and checking in with him this time, but they're playing! and shane has more experience this time (one (1) time, but hey! counts!), so yeah. of course ilya would be more chill about not asking if he's okay every ten seconds.
but then?? it's over?? and ilya just?? immediately pulls out?? what?? that's not how this goes???
and then ilya sits NEXT to him on the bed?? but doesn't kiss him??? doesn't even??? look at him????
but they're not supposed to be playing anymore??? what happened here???
like that had to be SO fucking confusing. no wonder shane left feeling like shit. he thought ilya was playing, but when shane played back?? he apparently didn't understand the rules???? what did he do wrong?? that's not how they're supposed to do this?? were they not playing?? is this just how they're supposed to do this from now on??? but why???
Every time I watch the aftermath of this scene, my heart breaks for Shane.
I may have empathy for Ilya, but yes he needs jail time for this 😭
I know it's the whole trope purpose, but man (men), CAN'T YOU JUST COMMUNICATE (!!!)

I love the idea of Shane being not just good at hockey but good at all sports, to the point where it fascinates and infuriates the other Centaurs
Because what do you mean they went to the batting cages for some silly fun to watch everyone flail at an unfamiliar sport, only for Shane to need three practice swings before figuring out the force and timing needed to start hitting every single pitch? What do you mean he sets the course record at the mini golf place they have the Pike twins birthday at? What do you mean he learned how to play cricket over a long weekend in the UK? What do you MEAN your Canadian ass that grew up on a calm, tiny lake went to visit Rose in LA and just learned to surf from “some guy” one of the days she was busy??
Shane doesn’t get why they all think it’s so crazy. He’s a professional athlete, he’s good at full body and mind control as well as adaptability and hand-eye coordination, and he’s so used to being the best in the world at hockey that he views being mundanely good at anything else as barely noticeable. He argues with Troy over whether he counts as being good at basketball just because he killed them all at the basketball shooting game at a Dave and Buster’s
They all start making bets to see who can find a sport Hollander isn’t good at. Harris is convinced he’ll win with figure skating because Shane’s muscle memory will want to work against him with a technique that’s so similar but also so different, only for Shane to come out of an afternoon learning from his old friend who was at the Olympics with the ability to do simple jumps and spins and is insisting the whole team learn so they can incorporate it into plays. Harris is not allowed to make suggestions after that
Ilya just sits back and lustily watches his husband destroy their friends at volley ball, wrestling, tennis, broom ball, and ultimate frisbee. Shane participates in an all pro athlete Ninja Warrior event to raise money for charity and Ilya can’t watch the clips of Shane flying through the course like a bat out of hell unless he is able to fuck Shane immediately after it ends

Don't ask me why (I wouldn't be able to explain to be honest), while reading this an image flashed briefly in my mind:
Kurt Hummel and Sebastian Smythe, Blaine Anderson and David Karofsky, and Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov at a sports bar (the Kingfisher?).

And I never had the information that Troy had been an asshole before joining Ottawa 😭 so now I'm reading all these opinions on book-Troy, and mainly why it wouldn't make sense for Shane to forgive him and be friends with him so fast or easy.
But I feel like this person you know who would say "Wait this is not the Troy I know" 😂 and now I kind of feel like the asshole to me beloved Shane 🤣
Can't wait to read Role Model to finally settle my mind haha
