I've been a part of the MariBat fandom for years now, and more recently become a part of the BatPham fandom since it grew into a full fandom of it's own.
In all that time I have been sitting on an idea for another crossover with DC that I think has just as much potential to become something entirely its own.
So, allow me to present the idea of Tales of Arcadia x Batman, which I've been affectionate calling the BATHUNTER crossover in my head.
More ramblings and fic recs under the cut.
So, first and foremost:
We have a bat bait, blue eyed, black haired, protagonist with trauma. Comparing this to the other two fandoms we've already hit the ground running.
We also have a reason for them to be in Gotham. At the end of Trollhunters we have Claire and Jim going with the trolls to find a new heartstone in New Jersey. Gotham is in New Jersey.
The trolls traveling across the country and founding New Trollmarket right in the Bat's territory doesn't even require an explanation beyond 'They found the new heartstone under Gotham City.'
The opportunities for identity shenanigans are still just as present as ever. If you stick to the full canon of the Tales of Arcadia universe, sans the time travel reset, then Jim, Claire and possibly Toby are both human and the bats could meet them as human civilians and as vigilantes who go around with glowing face covering armor and the ability to just disappear.
Personally, I'm not a huge fan of canon past the first half of wizards. So I like the idea of Jim using a glamour mask to go to school while being a vigilante in his half troll form. Make the bat's even more confused.
I also feel like the dichotomy between the three rules of trollhunting and Batman's usage of fear as a weapon and no killing rule would be fascinating.
Just:
"Fear heightens your senses. Fear keeps you alive. Arrogance gets you killed."

“You prefer to call me Batman. But the reason you can never escape me … is that my name is fear. And I live within you.”
“Always finish the fight.”

"Heroes should never kill a villain, no matter the depths of his villainy."
They would probably agree on rule three, though: “When in doubt, always kick them in the gronk-nuts.” Since Batman identifying weakness in both his teammates and villains is a whole thing.
Lastly, the potential for bio-dad aus is fascinating to me. Specifically, not with Bruce as the bio-dad, but with Commissioner Jim Gordon.
For anyone who hasn't happened on Jim Gordon's backstory, allow me to give some context. Jim Gordon's wife was named Barbara Eileen Gordon. They had two children, Barbra Gordon and Jim Gordon Jr. Barbara Eileen divorced Commissioner Gordon because she wanted to get her son out of Gotham.
From what I understand, in canon she keeps the name and eventually moves back to Gotham after her son becomes a serial killer and inmate of Arkham Asylum.
But this is an AU, canon is what ever we want it to be and Jim Lake being the biological kid of Commishionre Gordon and little brother of Barbra Gordon aka Oracle has some real potential in the right author's hands.

Batman wants answers. Jim wants to be left alone, so he can go back to his not so normal life. Too bad those two things aren't at all compatible with each other. At least Jim gets some new friends out of all of this. Probably. Maybe.
One of my favorite fics in general. Jim becomes friends with the Young Justice team while trying to convince Batman that he's 'just a civilian'.

Barbara Lake saw an uncomfortably familiar pattern in the behavior of James Lake Junior. She saw it in almost everything he did these days. She had seen it in her friends growing up. She had lived it herself. She just wasn't sure how to help him, so, instead, she calls in a friend.

There has to be a fic where Rocky doesn’t make it but he left Grace the instructions to get back so Grace has to go and try to save Rocky’s people before his body gives out since he doesn’t know if he’ll make it before synthesizing food, while trying to communicate without Rocky, I’m imagining he does make it and him and Adrian have to mourn together while waiting to see if it worked and if Rocky and Grace’s planets are saved
So! This is a perfect case study in situations where you should be wary of misinformation.
Take a moment and ask yourself, a project like this requires a lot of time, money and dedication of resources, why would scientists dedicate that time to something that could just be done by a tree?
The answer is they wouldn't. So that means this claim requires further investigation!
This project is called LIQUID 3, and it's not meant for cities with wide open spaces, it's meant for cities like Belgrade in Serbia. These cities are densely populated and heavily polluted, to the point where pollution actually chokes out current trees and makes creating green spaces difficult.
Liquid 3 was a PhD scientists answer to these problems. The microalgae tank is intended for spaces where you either:
Don't have enough space to plant full trees, or
Don't have enough time to plant trees and wait for them to grow up.
The tank is extremely efficient when you consider the amount of space needed compared to the amount of CO2 turned into oxygen. The tank can operate throughout the winter. And most importantly, it can be quickly set up in areas that desperately need relief from air pollution NOW not in 10 years when trees are done growing. Children currently suffocating on polluted air can't wait for trees to grow, they need to be taken care of now, and Liquid 3 is one of the ways to take care of them. Depending on the species of microalgea used, a number have shown a pretty amazing capacity to pull heavy metals out of the air which is something trees can get choked up by.
The tanks aren't just tanks either! Liquid 3 have solar panels placed on top, they have lighting and mobile phone charging, and they work as public benches. The designers of it want to encourage green spaces where there's room, but where there isn't room or time, Liquid 3 can step in. Realistically, this isn't a replacement for trees. It's replacing boring metal city benches with new, cooler benches that also clean the air (and have at least some heating during the winter).
Not only that, but the microalgea that grows is native to Serbia and all that microalgea has a ton of great uses! It makes for great fertilizer, compost, wastewater treatment, cleaner biofuels and even for helping create new tanks for further air purification. They only require a quick algae divide once a month, and the produced algae can be carted off to where ever it's needed. This makes them effective solutions for areas that can't sustain complex installations.
So yeah, there's actually quite a lot of places that would like these. Lots of people currently breathing in terrible quality air would much rather have their boring city benches replaced with really fucking cool algae tanks that clean the air and can be used to help create + sustain future green spaces in cities. I dunno about you, but I'd take that over a dumb metal bench any day. Put these at every bus stop and I'd be delighted.
Serbian here living in Belgrade! This is all true and I've actually seen some of these around the city a few times. They're amazing at what they do and really cool to watch up close because you can see pretty swirling inside them. It's not only functional but aesthetically pretty nice as well!
Okay so basically: I keep imagining Ahsoka dance-fighting to 'How It's Done,' specifically the Zoey bits. These imaginings were general late-TCW/Rebellion era stuff, but then I was like 'what's a context for this?' and it shifted to a different period.
So it's! another time-travel Ahsoka concept.
She's tossed back to shortly before the war, so like 10-12 range. Mental travel, not physical, she is SMALL and everyone sees her as a child. She's keeping it a secret but not very well. Impulse control of a baby, etc.
There's a big lightsaber class! And she uhhhh zones out and starts moving on automatic and despite the changes to her body, she's clearly much more competent than recently.
Teacher asks, Ahsoka deflects, they press, and she tries to distract everyone (poorly) by suggesting they see how she can do against multiple opponents! They are not convinced, but the other kids can tell she's angling for something and volunteer to do it, because what if it's interesting? They like interesting. Everyone likes interesting.
"If I'm wrong, you can say you told me I'm too arrogant. And if I'm right… uh, I don't know. You can move me to a higher class? Yeah! I can, you know, skip a grade."
The teacher is not convinced, but the whole 'you can say I told you so' thing is enough for them to sign off on 'all the other kids attack Ahsoka for a turn.'
They do the spar.
Ahsoka tosses away her training saber as soon as they're told to start. IMMEDIATELY jumps into action, literally, doing various backflips and slides and other things to just redirect the kiddos into each other, tripping them and startling them into dropping their sabers and so on. Doesn't hurt anyone more than a bruised knee from falling, but is very, VERY clearly competent beyond her years. She is fighting off a dozen of her saber-wielding classmates with her bare hands.
The teacher is now concerned, for obvious reasons. Wondering if maybe Ahsoka's been possessed by a ghost or something. The other kids are all a bit sore emotionally, but mostly good sports.
Ahsoka is bouncing on her toes and clearly kinda wired. She lingers when the other kids leave the mat to get a drink, because the teacher looks suspicious of her.
AND THEN
A LASER
Well, a blaster shot. a weak one. from one of the flying training simulators. which is behind her. She isn't singed, because the subconscious reflex of 'summon saber and block' is SO ingrained from years of war and ecaping the Empire.
She looks up, belatedly registering what happened, and sees the teacher staring at her.
The teacher then looks behind her, suddenly angry, and Ahsoka hears a bunch of whirring, and she also turns.
"Padawan Skywalker! What are you doing? She is a CHILD."
And there's Anakin. Head tilted. Oddly calm. He smiles a little when he sees her. Obi-Wan is also there, but Ahsoka's eyes are fixed on her old master.
He has the remote control for another dozen droids, and an extra training saber, which he tosses to her.
"Fulcrum. Show me whatcha got."
And she does.
Anyway this did start out as Ahsoka doing some Zoey stuff in the style of the How It's Done sequence, but then it turned into this.
