One of the root problems of our society is a refusal or inability by media to articulate that all those “it’s gonna be an apocalypse” disasters were not disasters because we collectively did something about them.

It's often the most male-catered to and even misogynistic media that feature some of the deepest and borderline homoerotic relationships between men. But that is to be expected. People think that patriarchy enabling homoaffectionate relationships between men is a bug, but it's actually a feature. True love can only come from a place of respect, and men often don't respect nor esteem women. They don't see women as capable of intellect, or strength, or imagination or even humanity. Those attributes are reserved to men. Which is why men's true love is often reserved for other men while women are just props to them. That's why it's easier for a lot of male writers to create stories about supposedly heterosexual male characters having the most world-shattering (accidentally romantic) bonds with other men, but not with women that they're canonically attracted to. It's because they can't fathom their male protagonist being so deeply affected by a woman's character, since women are to be lusted for and kept as props for their little domestic fantasies but never truly respected or admired as individuals. The ancient greeks were more honest about this stuff because they understood that patriarchy and male/male affection went hand in hand.

Can't be stated enough just how badly "oh, but we don't want to recognize trans women as a type of women so we'll tie the theory in knots to avoid that" sabotages any attempt at radical feminism. It immediately results in having to discard bangers like "sex itself is a social construct that reinforces patriarchy" because it implies that insofar as "real woman" is a thing, trans women are part of that category.

It’s really fucking dire. I’ve seen TERFs insisting that actually the pink tax is good because it harms trans women. I’ve seen TERFs saying the Christian tradwife trend is “more feminist” than allowing trans women to exist. I’ve seen TERFs saying they’d rather go through all the worst parts of menopause than let trans women have easy access to estrogen and progesterone. Just relentlessly abysmal stuff.

The only thing “radical” about TERFs brand of “radical feminism” is how radically stupid and self-destructive it is. I’ve heard this touted as reasoning for using the term FARTs instead of TERFs, but, and this is mostly just my personal take, I think we’re in too deep to change the term we refer to them with at this point. TWERF and SWERF are the only ones I’ve seen make any real waves and I figure it’s because they’re intuitive if you already know what TERF stands for and what they’re about.
