man splaining isnt when a guy is excited and talking about something he likes thats just called sharing your interests with people man splaining was when one of my male coworkers started explaining storyboarding to me (a sequential arts major) because he “learned about it from a simpsons dvd extra”
I'm going to give 5 examples of "man splaining" of which I'm sure several people will chime in and say something about... but still.
1. Both man and woman taking the same class. Woman passes the class with flying colors, man skates by. At the end of term, he describes in detail to the woman the answers to the final. She tries to argue, but he uses television, google, and newspaper examples to back him up, instead of facts from reportable articles and text books, other non-bias sources.
2. Woman does training on coding for a job. Asks afterwards if anyone has any questions. Man, states everything she just said over again in different words taking twice as long as she took, stating that it would clarify things, adding no new information.
3. Man and woman work at the same office but different departments, and different degrees. After the man watched a documentary on the woman's job, he tries to tell her how to tell her what she can and can't do, not realizing that rules, regulations, and laws change, and that the type of job she does is not the same as the documentary. But the man still tries to explain everything to her despite her trying to explain this to him.
4. A man watches a woman putting together a difficult project. The man then waits until others are around to then ignore the others, and then ONLY address the woman who finished putting together the project to explain how the project was put together.
5. A woman saying anything, and a man telling her that what she really meant to say was something else. If a man could read a woman's mind, then this world would be in much better shape than what it is.
