Ulmo and Tuor by Ivan Cavini
The lord of the seas and rivers, Ulmo. He never stays long in one place and loves to travel through all the deep waters of Arda. A green chain mail protects his body and sound of his hornblowing brings a deep longig for the sea.
@sevindevils 👀
amazing
Curufin: People call us kinslayers, and while that may be true, it is also rather rude. It makes us seem so one-dimensional.
Celegorm: Yeah - we slay other things too
Fingolfin: *exists*
Melkor: *exists*
Manwë: *exists*
Fëanor:
... that’s Caranthir like three times a day...
Awkward Silmarillion Situations
1. Melkor and Manwe seeing each other at the annual “I want to kill my siblings” Meeting
2. Ancalagon getting stuck in the tunnels of Angband
3. Maedhros and Beren trying to high-five with their missing hands
4. Earendil beeing drunk and driving through the sky at day
5. Tilion slowly melting while he tries to flirt with Arien
6. Huan sniffing Carcharoths butt
7. Varda spelling “Manwe is a prick” with the stars, after a fight with her husband
8. Mairon trying on Melkors armour and pretending to be him (And getting caught)
9. Amrod and Amras switching places to see if someone notices (But no one does)
10. Fingolfin lighting a zigarette with the flames of Feanors fading ghost
Fëanor: Am i in trouble?
Mandos: Have a guess.
Fëanor: No?
Mandos: Have another guess.
elf stuff
Manwe, for the character ask?
How I feel about this character: Best King of Arda
All the people I ship romantically with this character: his wife and Queen of my heart Varda Strapentari Elentari
My non-romantic OTP for this character: Ulmo, best bro
My unpopular opinion about this character: Manwë is neither weak, nor incompetent, nor tyrannt. He, Varda and Ulmo were the only Valar who spoke against the Ban of the Noldor. He forgave Melkor because he promised him to, which Tolkien himself noted that was a deed which demonstrared Manwë’s honour because not keeping his word would have made Manwë take the first step on the path of his brother’s villany
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I would kill for Dagor Dagorath and the final clash between Manwë and Melkor because it would have gone like this:
Manwë: you were my brother, Melkor… I loved you!
Melkor: I HATE YOUUUUUUUUUU!!1!1111
GIVE ME A CHARACTER and I’ll break their ass down
Imagine Frodo and Bilbo inviting some friends to tea in Valinor and Gandalf asks if he can bring some friends and that’s how Manwë winds up sitting in a hobbit sized chair (or even an Elf sized chair which is still too small) learning about pipe-weed
Yes, please!!! Somebody please do it - a fanfic or a fanart... anything. Casual and curious Manwe is the best Manwe!!!
Manwë is not a tyrant, pass it on.
Definitely not in my HC.
Feanor’s Eleven
Just a short HC before the weekend ends:
Imagine that Feanorians would sit down quietly and think a bit – you know, just for a change. They were supposed to be pretty smart, some of them even ingenious, so let’s imagine they would use it for once. And instead of just going to kill everyone (Doriath etc.) they would come up with an elaborate plan to steal the damn stone. You know – Ocean’s Eleven style. Plus combine it with a bit of steampunk (see my previous post) and good old-fashioned magic – man, I’d LOVE to see that!
Curiosity killed a Vala
I HC Valar being quite curious about Eldar and their culture, once they arrived in Aman (to varying degrees, of course (some of them more (Manwe, Aule, Mandos...), some much less (Ulmo, Yavanna...)). I HC Valar being of superior intelligence and wisdom (even compared to the most of Maiar and Eldar), but their experience and perception of the world (as it’s creators) is fundamentally different from the other Arda’s inhabitants. Also, unlike the others, they are not material beings and, as I’ve mentioned in one of my previous entries, they perceive everything (including the material world) „indirectly” through music.
So, I basically imagine them having dorky discussions about various stuff - a bit like the wizards in Harry Potter did about Muggles (remember Mr. Weasley’s excited discussion with Harry about a rubber duck:)). Sure, they’re busy running the world and doing their Valary things (whatever that might be), but I don’t believe they wouldn’t take some time once in a while to just entertain or that they have not felt curious and even bored sometimes (in the Eru-knows-how-many-million years of their existence...). So yeah, I believe they would try to understand the earthly matters. And again – they succeeded to varying degrees. And I also believe that Eldar would probably see them as eccentrics – but not in a negative way. And of course, the greatest and cutest dork among them would be Manwe. I also like the idea of Manwe consulting his friend Ingwe in regards to the choice of his outfits for public events (after numerous fashion disasters).
Steampunk in Beleriand
Lately I’ve been thinking what a shame it is that Tolkien never made a proper use of the Feanorians’ potential. I mean, they were ingenious (at least some of them) and all that Tolkien ever made them do was fancy medieval (albeit magical) stuff. Sometimes I wish they would come up with some sophisticated machinery. They were at war, after all, and what better incentive one needs for technological progress (at least judged from our human historical experience)? Anyway, all I wanna say is that a bit of steampunk in Beleriand would be really awesome.
Maglor
Headcanon: Eldar, Maglor and opera
I once read about a guy named Baldassare Ferri (born December 9, 1610 - died September 10, 1680) who was apparently one of the most extraordinary operatic singers who ever lived. Reportedly, during his stay in Poland he was much admired (just as anywhere else he performed) and it is said that Queen Christina of Sweden though at war with Sigmund III of Poland, requested the services of Ferri. A brief armistice was therefore arranged so that Ferri could pass safely through the battle line.
And that exactly sums up my HC about Eldar and their attitude to music (and all art in general, but especially music).
I imagine music festivals going on for weeks with crowds arriving at Tirion and later Himring just to hear Maglor sing. Opulent celebrations and balls being held in his (and other singers’) honor, grand productions staged in multiple theaters (because who cares about money when it comes to true art), people fainting at his concerts, crowds shouting "One Eru, one Macalaure!" And even Thingol himself would invite Maglor to his court granting him an exception to the infamous Quenya ban – all that just to hear him sing.
And I also HC Melkor having huge admiration for the second son of Feanor (and perhaps even a bit of a crush). Back in Valinor, he would have never missed an opportunity to hear him sing. And I also imagine Melkor buying luxurious gifts and sending them anonymously to his favorite diva.
Valar and music
I like the idea of music being the very core of the Valar’s existence. Like each of them has their leitmotif. And it could change somewhat according to their mood and state of mind (especially Melkor’s, as he is the most “free” of them all). And I also like the idea that they would perceive the whole world including the children of Iluvatar through music. Like everything and everyone would have their own leitmotif too and that the Valar can see the true and innermost nature of all. Physical appearance would have little meaning to them (though they can perceive it and even appreciate it, it is secondary). e.g. I like to imagine Manwe having this horrible taste when it comes to clothing - he would insist on wearing the most disturbing old shirts (or whatever they wear in Arda) simply because he likes their “vibe”....
And this is how I imagine some of them would ‘sound‘:
Manwe:

Melkor sane:

Melkor less sane:

Noldolante
I was just listening to Mozart’s Requiem and realised that it’s exactly how I imagine Maglor’s Noldolande would sound:
