Solas is as he always was. Changing based on those around him. In inquisition, if the Inquisitor dislikes him and treats him like a hobo apostate (condescendingly) then Solas responds in kind. He becomes more entrenched in his belief that the people of this time are lesser than, incapable of the compassion and empathy that ancient elves who came from those spirits are. If you treat him with respect and kindness, not only does he treat the Inquisitor the same way, he starts to doubt himself and his beliefs. It was said in Veilguard, he can't help his nature. He longs to reflect, as Wisdom would demand. The wisdom to recognize when you're wrong and adjust accordingly.

If you play veilguard as a Rook that only treats Solas as a villian and with distrust, if you choose the fight ending specifically, you push him all the way to the 'dark side' so to speak. You pervert him all the way from his truest nature until he utters the statement, "I am a god". A statement he should find abhorrent, that goes against his entire life's work. Especially sad considering everyone he'd ever loved and trusted forced him to abandon his nature. However, if you give him a chance, he reflects. He goes back to his true nature of wisdom over pride. Going as far as to sacrifice himself for everyone else, humility rather than prideful arrogance.

Your words and beliefs have an impact on others. Your kindness and respect does, too.

everything about solavellan makes me gag. the implied conversations ("haven is familiar. it will always be important to you" "we talked about that already"). the casual touches that imply a comfort and familiarity that only so many other casual touches could build (the hand on the small of the inquisitor's back at the winter palace, the hand holding in crestwood). solas' slightly gleeful tone when he retorts at sera for teasing them about their relationship ("only one of us is looking sad and foolish, sera"). the hints of how obvious their relationship is by their companions ("i've seen the way you look at him" / "have certain lingering looks passed between you and our solas?"). solas tongue-kissing inky and getting embarrassed about it when teased ("i did no such thing!"). the! implied! sex! slash sleeping together, joking about getting each other into bed, the "i would not lie with you under false pretences" of it all. the respect and tenderness they continue to address each other with even after crestwood. even after ten years apart. the yearning in their kisses. the yearning in his veilguard letter. the eagerness from both sites to understand, the curiosity about what sort of person their counterpart is to make them feel the way that they do — to make them feel that everything changed. put me out of my misery pleaaase pleeeeaaaaseeeee

Official Dragon Age Map with Distance Key!

I bring you a Dragon Age Map with the OFFICIAL distances calculated in miles! Higher rez version here for the regular map and here for the map with extra large boxes to help with reading larger distances.

So I had been on the hunt for a Thedas map that actually had any distances calculated on it for years. There's some fan maps, but none were official.

Well, imagine my shock when I opened my dragon age ttrpg book to find a map at the back that DOES include official distances!! If you have the book, check the back, it's glued in there.

I found no one had uploaded this map online, though. So I took a photo, lined it up as best as I could with a map I found online of the same style, and then pasted in the distance calculator in the corner. I then added a grid on top. I couldn't find a better way of doing it than 5 squares for every 70 miles, which means each square is about 14 miles. I thought that'd be easier to calculate than trying to break a 70 mile chunk down.

Then I realized by looking at the map that trying to calculate longer distances using that map will suck cause they're such tiny squares... so I added another grid on top to make it so the large grid is 70 miles. I included both versions of the map for anyone to use.

According to this map and some online calculators, Varric was wrong that it took Hawke 2 weeks to get to Kirkwall from Gwaren. it should have taken closer to 20 days. But eh, not too big an error and 2 weeks sounds neater. Plus, we know he's an unreliable narrator.

The funny thing is, it takes nearly (edit: MORE than) 2 weeks to get across Ferelden. On horseback. Warden was walking. Warden... how far did you walk... How many miles did you cover...

Anyone feel free to spice up the map however you'd like! I hope this is helpful for anyone out there!
