i think some people like to use conflicting words specifically to draw attention and then when conflict happens, they can call the other person “someone who doesn’t have reading comprehension” but i don’t have enough proof to that theory

like, since i started to date a dyslexic person, i realized a lot of people are so, so mean to people who have a hard time reading

like, why would you word that phrase that specifical way? why would bother you so much to use the words as they are, instead of specifically turning it into a bunch of word game that you need to decipher?

it’s not about making yourself palatable. it’s about why do you needed to word it like that? and, above everything else, what is wrong with having a poor reading comprehension?

i know you’re not a teacher but oh my god. some of you talk like “what do you mean you did not understand my 10k word essay? i’m gonna call you poor.”

It is with this appreciation for the way negativity holds open crip, trauma, and mad time that I find myself unable to part with Edelman, even as I acknowledge the flaws in his thinking. The antisocial thesis allows me to indulge my negativity without demanding justification or immediate political application. Sometimes I just want to be sad! I just want to be mad! No Future and the antisocial thesis are, for me, failures worth knowing. They offer errors to learn from, certainly, but they also offer a temporal structure in which that learning can occur.

Let’s talk about accessibility and how it impacts able-bodied people for a second. I know this sounds weird but it is good to acknowledge how these things affect the majority of people. There really is no reason to not make things more accessible. Historically, making things more accessible has helped everyone benefit more. Having curbs dip down helps disabled people in wheelchairs or similar mobility aids, but also helps people with strollers, bikes, and other things as well. Having a button to make doors open is usually intended for wheelchairs again, but I know many who use it just cause it’s easier. And it applies for other disabilities too! Captions are a good example, they’re made for people with auditory processing disorders but a lot of people use them just cause it’s helpful. I’ve been seeing on YouTube shorts a bra brand for disabled people that uses magnets and has hooks so everyone can put it on and I’ve heard people just getting them because of preference. And it’s important to me that it’s because of preference, because more options means more people can get what just works better for them in any way. Which once again, just helps everyone find something they like using.

It is true that because of how some disabilities conflict, it’s impossible to make everything accessible to everyone, but it has been proven that many accessible things have benefits for able-bodied people(or people with unrelated disabilities to the intended use). Make things more accessible forever and ever and ever because it will benefit you and most other people. You should actually care about this if you’re not disabled because you’re likely gonna benefit from it as there will be new innovation that makes life better for everyone. And this means disabled people can do more things, which as a disabled person means a lot. I feel horrible when I’m not able to do as much as others and if I can do more then I will genuinely feel so much better. Thank you for coming to my ted talk

'this is an important post <3 about important matters everybody should be discussing <3' okay yeah i agree but we do need these images to be described for that. thank you. if you didnt know now you do. 'everybody should reblog/talk about this!' great! how will visually impaired people/those who rely on image descriptions do that if we don't have any. im not the first nor last person to say this and i don't mean to be rude many people just genuinely have no idea what ids are or what they are for i myself didn't just like a year ago (?) plus not everybody has the capability (either in general or just in the moment) to describe their images and stuff BUT. if youre making a post about a, i dont know, socio/polotically relevant matter you wish to see more commonly addressed and make it so it's meant to reach a wide range of people it is really unfair to leave it fully and totally undescribed. especially when the images in the post are just text that could be copy-pasted into an alt text. in my opinion.

Clinical misdiagnosis is more common than self misdiagnosis. Just for the record, in case anyone is still skeptical of self diagnosis :) it’s not up for debate btw
