I think it's funny how Decepticons and Autobots fight over Earth and the humans' fate the most, but the moment any other alien or threat appears that isn't them, they immediately team up to defeat said third party because only they can mess with the humans.

Cybertronians are extremely territorial and possessive sometimes, and no one can mess with their planet.

Unicron being earth is a cool idea on paper but is very hard to execute in an interesting way because by its nature to bring this concept to its fullest potential it requires at least some form of apocalyptic scenario, which hasbro probably doesn't want to touch.

Like unicron can't even transform without killing everyone, it's such a big threat that it kind of lowers the stakes because you know they will never do it.

If I had to work with this concept i make it a unicron slowly corrupting earth into chaos and strange Eldritch horrors and they have to try and put him back to sleep.
