So Jaune and Nora grow up with Blake, (and are both Faunus) but this means that Nora isn’t there to help Ren after Kuroyuri. Because of this, he doesn’t get knocked out of his spiral after his parents’ deaths and pretty much only survives because he buries himself in his Semblance

He’s found by Huntsmen after the village is THOROUGHLY destroyed, hollow eyes, no speech, the whole traumatized nine yards. He’s sent to live with his next of kin

Ren’s dad doesn’t have any family left, but his mother does, twin older siblings. She hasn’t seen them in years, since she was a teen, but they’re the only family Ren has left

There’s good news and bad news. Good news, they’re both alive. Bad news, nobody knows where the brother is, and the sister is an infamous bandit queen. Good news, their teammate is living on Patch. Bad news, his wife just died, leaving him with two daughters

The Huntsmen don’t really have another choice though. And so Lie Ren is dropped off on Taiyang Xiao Long’s doorstep

Dark hair like Ruby, purple eyes like Yang, profound grief like Tai. The kid hasn’t spoken a word since he was found in the wreckage. Tai isn’t in any place to take care of another kid, but how could he turn the boy away?

I swear we don't see the color pink in rwby anymore, it's either Nora or Neo, and Neo is gone now (and if there is post like vol 6 charas in pink, they sure aren't rememberable)

To my knowledge the last Pink Themed Characters in RWBY proper were Li and An Ren. Though I don’t blame you if you don’t think they count as pink themed characters.

The wiki doesn’t even acknowledge their last names in the Color Naming Rule section. Ren is Japanese for Lotus and when you think of Lotus you think of a pink flower with green lily pads around.

Li has no pink at all and An seems just about right to me but again, I don’t blame you if you don’t count her and assumed she was a green themed character instead like her son.

But at least those who like Pink can still be happy, meanwhile the ones who love the color Orange are dead in the water- and the ones who love Green are thriving.

RWBY Volume 4 Episode 10: Kuroyuri rewatch thoughts

.And starting with the only character who didn't get a part of their story last episode, Oscar.

.I'm 100% sure the reason leaving doesn't feel awful to Oscar is because the reincarnation curse is already mixing both Oz's and his brain

.Why doesn't Oz have something set up so he can get resources when needs to post reincarnation? Maybe taking out the CCT took something like that out the equation.

.Hazel was really like

.Hazel seemed so cool before learning his stupid ass backstory

.This scene makes me wish he hadn't already been shown under Salem earlier, they should have kept him mysterious

.Kuroyuri itself is creepy and the ambience in it's first scene is great, but already having seen two destroyed villages this season lessens the impact a bit

.An and Li Ren are both really interesting even if we get only this flashback. An is the most underrated RWBY MILF who said that?

.One of the swords on the stand Lie goes to is clearly based on the buster sword and I like that.

.The very small child trying to buy saké is inherently very funny.

.I love 2D cakes that have my future logo on them for no reason too, Lie! (shout out to the cat bread)

.Ren and Nora's kid models look fine to me, but these comically evil bully kids looks so off, they didn't have a standard model for slightly older kids and you can tell.

.Adopting baby Nora as my own my little dashie style.

.I realized Li just added one letter to his name for his kids name, and Tai hacked off part of his name for his kid. It's just funny to me.

.I really like the scene between Jaune and Ruby here, god Ruby's been through way too much.

.This is probably the volume were angsty Jaune is at his most tolerable, he's still annoying sometimes but he's not a complete asshole yet.

.Holy shit An dying was a shock.

.I don't have many notes on the rest of the flashback, but how Ren semblance unlocks makes me question if it full on repress emotions alongside masking them. Because Ren goes from crying his eyes out to confident and heroic real fast.

.The main reason I don't have notes is because that scene is just good in a way I have trouble commenting on.

.I know some people who would say the Nuckelavee keeping trophies is a sign a human level Grimm intellect but some octopi are know to collect shells of past food and lots of corvids love their shinies.

.The cave itself is quite chilling but it really makes you wonder how it took this long for Nuckes over here to die.

Do you think any of the parnets went to hot topic when they were younger?

Apparently Hot Topic was founded in November 1989, starting off by selling gothic belts and dark scrunchies. Shortly after, they started becoming a destination for alternative and rock fans, then they shifted to pop culture figures like South Park, Spongebob Squarepants, and Homey the Clown.

Looking at the different parent attires, I'd say...

NO to Kali, Jacques, Willow, Li Ren, Taiyang, Mama Valkyrie, Ozpin, Mama Nikos.

YES to Ghira, Raven, An Ren, Summer, Salem.

I'd also say Qrow was also a fan of Hot Topic, but often found himself tripping over belts into the glass cases at least more than once. I'll even add that Winter was also a fan of Hot Topic when she was younger, possibly even acting as the start of her rebellious phase.
