By the way. The whole “oh, well some of us have to push through our disability because we don’t have the option to be that disabled!” isn’t even laterally ableist, it is just ableist. Like, punching down, deeply fucking ableist, and I am so sick of it.

Great, congrats, you personally are able to “push through” chronic fatigue and walk around a bit or whatever. Yes it sucks that you have to injure yourself to survive. But that is not unique to you/being LSN, and I’m so fucking sick of less severely disabled people derailing every higher-needs post to try and…. Guilt trip the op for being disabled??

It's gross!!! It's so gross!!! High support needs Disabled people deserve to be able to talk about their realities without receiving some of the most vile ableist talking points from everyone in and outside their community.

I kinda want a wheelchair and that feels bad to admit. And not in an, “I want to be more disabled!” way that some people think I mean but like. I’m just in so much pain day to day when I walk around. I’m capable of doing it for short periods, “long” periods (few hours) with crutches. But I’ve needed to put so much weight on the crutches that I’ve accidentally pulled muscles in my shoulders or chest by the end of a long excursion without realizing it until I’m in horrible pain for the next week or two. And by “long excursions” I mean going to visit a horse park and going on a mall walk with my boyfriend (two different days not the same day) not like anything absolutely insane.

But I feel like I shouldn’t make the switch, or want to make the switch, until I’m truly incapable of walking with my crutches. I’m also afraid of admitting my condition has worsened that much even though I’ve needed increasing canes/crutches for years now. But sometimes I see people in wheelchairs and I just feel the desire for the comfort and rest it would afford me to use one.
