Unpopular opinion

I don’t want a self driving wheelchair that can go up stairs. I want ramps, elevators, and curb cuts.

I don’t want a solution in 20 years, I want it now. I wanna be able to go to the mall with my friends and not have to worry about stairs. I want to go the movies and actually choose where I sit. I want to go to a park without having to parkour my way through cracked pavement and curb drops.

I want accessibility and I want it today.

“If you need (insert adaptive device here) to do (activity) then maybe you should take that as a sign that you aren’t qualified/shouldn’t do it.” People are the exact same people who shame disabled people for NOT doing things and it’s annoying asf

as of posting this, pride month starts tomorrow, and PLEASE keep your disabled community members in mind!

physically disabled people, mentally disabled people, the Deaf community, those with chronic illness, the blind community, all queer people should have the choice to be able to celebrate pride just like anyone else! ☆

when people think of accommodation for disabilities they usually think of things like a wheelchair, a translator, braille, and closed captioning. things like that.

but sometimes accommodations can be less expected, such as needing to wear certain clothing items, using parasols, living and operating nocturnally, post it notes, gum, and cooling devices (ice packs/fans).

holy fucking shit im freezing. my cane is in my car alongside some other junk and i put my cane up in the front passenger seat next to me (since i needed it for the next place im going to be at) and when i touched it i legit got blasted by some ice bringer magic 💔💔

the #medical tag being marked as mature is honestly so disappointing, what about all the disabled and chronically ill people who want to tag their things accordingly? or people studying to be doctors and nurses even, i feel like the way tumblr hides tags i feel like makes it hard for ppl to share their posts if one tag is marked as mature even if the post itself isn't mature at all. im trying not to let it piss me off but it is (。ヘ°)
