Like, a marketed actual product mascot. He is the original mascot horror story—! The horror of corporate stage capitalism, the abuse of child stars, & the way in which he encapsulates the hollowness of billionaires: how the wealthy will do things for their own benefit, no thought to the consequences.
There is no thought to cells of a mascot brought to life. No thought to a puppet vessel for Lex's superiority-inferiority complex. Kon is extraordinary life breathed into new existence & yet, there is no wonder for what he could be or do.
There is just the preconceived value.
His sentience is nothing to what monetary value he brings to project donors & to the power 13's presence gives Luthor.
He is a thing. An it. A product.
Tagged like cattle.
& it really isn't a coincidence he became Hawaii, a place notoriously & horrifically abused by capitalism, -'s Superman! That's like layers of metaphor right there & writters neeeeed to do more storylines like that.
---(Tw: CSA & Mention of Suicid)
Then there's Knockout & Tana.
Characters in storylines that, yes, might've been used simply for fulfilling that teen hero fantasy for young readers, but after decades holds a lot of different notions!
Kon, a child star, is left to his own devices & ends up being groomed on multiple seperate occasions? Like-- C'mon, i know it likely wasn't done on purpose, but it fits in with the narriative so well that it's almost shocking how well suited Kon is as a character to explore those themes.
AND ALSO
I don't think it's stated enough how suicidal Kon is/was in his comics. He rly embodies the horror of being alive. He's definitely my favourite Super❤️🩹
i’m writing a character study on barbara gordon and her relationships with the batgirls and I really need to know if anyone is interested and if I should post…
Ok so it's safe to say I had this AU idea stewing for a while and said nothing and started cooking.
Basically, what if:
Hal, Bruce, Barry, Arthur, and Ollie got their powers/abilities early
Oliver and Bruce BOTH became cryptids
Arthur, Barry, and Hal all ended up in the system by way of parents dying
Oliver runs away from home and lot and hides at Bruce's, or the two cryptid cubs run around the states (and world) with Alfred as the home base operator guy
And when Hal, Arthur, and Barry meet up and run off, then run into Bruce and Oliver, and they band together as brothers
And later Clark shows up and joins the feral brotherhood.
Even later, a much older Diana meets them and sort of becomes an older sister.
Yeah, that's basically the AU idea. First 6 chapters are up and the next ones are WIPs, and I call it the Brothers in All But Blood AU.
