Happy 56 Birthday to Henry Simmons.
Agents Of Shield wardrobe department gets personal thanks from me because honestly, Mack is always dressed so deliciously 👌 what a gorgeous gorgeous man in gorgeously tight fitting clothes 😍 oh goddamn 😩
imagine if marvel canonized agents of shield by having nick fury call mack to check up on shield. i just might die and i need it to happen thank u
I just have a feeling that the series finale of AoS is going to have the same energy as ‘A Spy’s Goodbye’ multiplied by ‘The End’ and I’m not emotionally ready for that.
With little help from your friends
This episode was such a beautiful love letter to the 80s pop culture. Especially genre - from people in computers to evil robots to slasher films. From A-Team to Max Headroom to Battlestar Galactica.
I tried to keep up with references but each one was more glorious than the next. I think it’s the way they mix and match them that was hilarious - like Sibyl/Russel story had Electric Dreams, Short Circuit, Weird Science and Little Shop of Horrors with a little bit of Cylons sprinkled on.
And Deke’s band wasn’t just playing stolen music - the idea of them secretly being spies was so clearly also stolen from pop-culture of the time - from A-Team to Jem and the Holograms. And when it all turned into slasher film and then robot demolition it was just beautiful. Especially the slow lasers.
Also Phil looked good as Max Headroom but Mack looked even better in 80s gear.
The fun of this episode came from trying to catch all the references to various 80s movies but the heart came from giving Mack 20 months to deal with what happened. He wasn’t alone even though he tried to be. Deke was a friend to both him and the new version of him. And it got better little by little.
I liked that he let Mack blame him (Mack’s parents were dead before Deke killed Freddy) and still did everything to pull Mack out of his depression. And saved Coulson. And built a team/band.And made a new shotgunaxe. He really is Turbo’s grandson.
And sure Deke was still selling up future for parts but he was also able to create another found family for himself and eventually for Mack too. This wasn’t his first time stranded in a past and he knows how to make the best out of it. And he wasn’t just using those people - the way he brought Changs back to the team shows it.
And they did defeat most of the evil robots. If it wasn’t for Sibyl somehow, in the 80s, getting the batteries that lasted long enough for that whole trip they may have even succeeded. But now Nathaniel has superpowers and future predictor. The world was better off when he was eaten by Hive.
The thought of Alya calling Mack "Uncle Alfie" is too cute but Coulson tries to get her to call him "Mack Hammer"
Season 7 Episode 7 Thoughts
Does Deke look older??? And may looks younger???
SYBIL?? Why is she in a computer?
Well you got a whole lot of 1982 instead deke you so sassy lmao
“The past...is sacred” phewww
“Ripples, not waves” me: there’s not really much point now
Woah Deke’s character development. Love that he’s caring for Mack.👌👌
Oh no Mack. Mack is not dealing well with grief.
Stupid Russell. Stupid!!! Russell.
Please. Do NOT do a Thor with Mack.
Oh Deke is soso sweet. He reminds me of Coulson in some way.
Oh my gosh is Russell in love with tHAT. Poor Russell. So deprived of human contact he falls in love with a literal robot? Press f for our fallen nerd.
Also yeah lol let’s give Mack a beard to remind everyone that he’s in grief.
Lmao Deke turned himself into a celebrity???
Also. This looks like old May. Like the makeup. Clothes. And that looks like the old base???
Deke singing Don’t You Give up on me with eyeliner. A total look.
ah yes. An explanation for how the Chronicoms survived.
Okay I know that Sybil is supposed to be a bad guy but it’s just really funny seeing what they’re reduced to.
Lmao the fake blood, everything sounds really 80s. Also. Exterminate? Reminds me of Daleks. Any Doctor Who fans here?
“You left that kid.” Woah double meanings smack me in the face.
I’m just too much of a dreamer.
Lmao all the filming cuts, the transitions are all so 80s.
Mack keeps part of his beard. He keeps part of his new self, this self that’s different. And that’s okay. Love that.
The parallel between Mack and Yo-yo and May and Coulson. I love that.
“That’s cold May, even for you.”
Nathanial Malick!! He’s next in line to get destroyed by the chronicoms!!
The Chronicoms
Oh, I'm definitely rewatching Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D from the start after the finale will hit us right in the feels!
