as a member of both the disney and dragon ball fandoms, i am PRAYING that the dumpster fire live action film will never ever be available to stream on disney+.

I caught the last twenty, thirty minutes of that live action Dragonball movie the other day when I was at my aunt’s house (Harry Potter was on after it so that’s why we had the channel on in the first place)

a blood moon is, in itself, an eclipse. A lunar eclipse. They were talking about a solar eclipse.

A BLOOD MOON CANNOT PHYSICALLY ECLIPSE THE FRICKIGN SUN!

Bear in mind I know nothing about Dragonball. Nothing. If you say “Kame-hame-HAAA” to me I’ll know it’s from Dragonball and I recognize the characters’ names, but other than that, nothing.

But my heck the CGI was cheesy and the acting wasn’t very good and IDK I didn’t think the main dude should have been white but that bit about the blood moon eclipsing the sun just made me bust out laughing. Like, it sounds cool and creepy and all, but it’s physically impossible. A lunar eclipse cannot create a solar eclipse. By definition they are opposite phenomena

Cinematic Comic Characters Ranked! (Year 2009) Final Part

It’s rough coming right after a fantastic year of movies (2008) but 2009 did pretty well for itself. Terminator Salvation is our only sequel and we also get an X-Men spinoff with X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Kids favorite shows come out with Astro Boy, Dragonball: Evolution, and G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra, and we got a couple of thrillers with Whiteout and Surrogates. We also get the debut of the controversial Watchmen! Here’s your TOP 20!

*SPOILERS AHEAD FOR ALL HIGHLIGHTED MOVIES ABOVE*

20. Tom Greer (Surrogates)

"You don't change what's been done. You and I know that better than most people."

Tom Greer is a cop living in a world where surrogates are used for everything and humans don't even leave their bedrooms. He gets thrown into a murder case where people are dying through their hosts and gets his whole world turned upside down when his surrogate is destroyed. Now Greer is forced to live as a human again and deal with the emotions and risks that comes with it. After stopping Canter from killing every human attached to the surrogate, he ultimately decides to let the virus destroy the surrogates and returns to home to fix his relationship with his wife.

19. Kyle Reese (Terminator Salvation)

"Come with me if you want to live!"

Introducing a young Kyle Reese, the man who goes back in time and ends up being John Connor's father, was such an interesting dynamic. Kyle looked up to John, completely unaware that he was the one who created him, along with Sarah Connor. Star being his traveling buddy proves that he's good with kids and his character really shows when he calms down all the prisoners and continues to inspire them despite their dreadful looking futures. Skynet recognizes him as the biggest threat so he ends up becoming the number one target and has to get rescued by John and Marcus, another man he ends up looking up to.

18. Snake Eyes (G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra)

*silently fights with ninja sword*

Another mute on our list, Snake Eyes has taken a vow of silence after it appeared his arch enemy, Storm Shadow, killed their master. Now on the G.I. Joe team, Snake Eyes is called in when the team desperately needs a win. He pulls through for the most part, until Storm Shadow comes back in the picture. Personally, there's not much emotional investment I can give to a mute that literally covers his entire body to the point that I never see facial journeys or expressions. Like yes, he's a bad ass, but I really wanted to know how he felt knowing that Storm Shadow wasn't the one who killed his master after all.

17. Adrian Veidt/Ozymandias (Watchmen)

"I don't mind being the smartest man in the world, I just wish it wasn't this one."

Our villain, not villain of the movie. Adrian is one of the only superheroes to reveal his identity, now using his incredible brain to help out the world...as well as start a toy line. Turns out he's the one that killed The Comedian and managed to block out Dr. Manhattan from his plan to 'save the world'. How does he do this? By blowing up cities full of millions of innocent people. Unlike most villains, he doesn't give the heroes a chance to stop him, he pulls the trigger and gets away with it. The worst part? His plan sort of works. All the world leaders decide to band together in peace to heal their major losses and will look to him and his resources for guidance. He also had this really cool looking purple tiger that he killed for no reason and knowing Zack Snyder as a director, I think Adrian is supposed to be bisexual with his high interest in Alexander the Great.

16. Kayla Silverfox (X-Men Origins: Wolverine)

"Walk until you bleed... then keep walking!"

Kayla Silverfox is a mutant with the ability to control others through touch. After her sister is taken by Stryker, she agrees to start a relationship with Logan and fake her death so that he would seek revenge and agree to go through the Weapon X program. I guess she really did care for him, but it's hard to believe it when she only brings it up as a way to convince him to help her rescue her sister. I think it does show she cares though when she tries to convince him not to kill Victor, not wanting him to give in to his animal side. In the end she does actually die, getting shot by Stryker, but not before she gets Stryker under her control and makes him disappear.

15. Wallace A. Weems/Ripcord (G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra)

"Don't start being all nice now."

Everyone needs a comic relief, and on the G.I. Joe's team it's Ripcord. Literally every seen he was in he ends up being the butt of a joke, which obviously got old really quick. It was nice to see him bring out the emotional side of Scarlett and he did truly care about Duke when he was in trouble, so he was more bearable after that. He does come through in the end, flying one of the fastest jets known to man to take out the three missiles launched at three huge city populations all by himself.

14. Shana M. O'hara/Scarlett (G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra)

"Kill all the bad guys."

With Cover Girl dying early on in the movie, Scarlett ends up being the only girl representing the Joe's. Being just as smart as Breaker and one of the best fighters on the team, Scarlett proves she's not t be taken lightly. Her knowledge of different languages helps Ripcord take down the warheads at the end of the movie and we see her start to embrace her emotional side instead of just being the perfect robot soldier.

13. Daniel Dreiberg/Nite Owl II (Watchmen)

"God I'm tired of being afraid, afraid of war, afraid of the mask-killer and afraid of this goddamn suit, and how much I need it."

Daniel is the nicest guy in this whole movie! He doesn't even do much that's super nice, he just doesn't do anything that makes him an asshole like every other guy in the movie. Even though he's the second Nite Owl, he's considered the best, even by the original. He takes not being a hero anymore pretty well and starts living a normal life, but he starts craving the suit more and more as each day passes by. Laurie coming back in his life is the match to light the fire and he officially comes out of retirement to help save the world again, as well as have some steamy sex with Laurie on his owl-shaped jet/ship. There's really nothing he can do to stop Adrian's plan or to stop Rorschach's death but he is able to call Adrian out on his hypocrisy before continuing his life fighting crime with Laurie.

12. Victor Creed/Sabretooth (X-Men Origins: Wolverine)

"Nobody gets to kill you but me!"

So in a bizarre twist, Victor Creed is actually Logan's older brother. As they grow up, its blatantly obvious that Logan is the superior brother though, and that creates some jealous tension coming from Victor. When Logan 'abandons' him and quits Stryker's team, he works with Stryker to bring him down. He also hunts down any mutant that can help with Weapon XI. Being Stryker's glorified lap dog ends up benefiting him in no way, shape, or form as Stryker reveals he lied and that the adamantium wouldn't work on Victor like it did Logan. Of course this doesn't go well and the two brother duke it out, with Logan coming out as the winner, even more so when he decides to spare Victor's life. Victor returns the favor, helping Wolverine defeat Weapon XI before running off, making it clear their rivalry is still very much a thing.

11. Conrad S. Hauser/Duke (G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra)

"My army."

The main G.I. Joe, the All-American hero that will never give up on a mission and do whatever he can to complete it. I liked Duke his heart was always in the right place, but I just got to drag him for the situation with Ana for a bit. He really thought the best thing to do after her brother's death was to abandon her? Like, he can't really be that dumb, can he? And then to not even try to contact in her in FOUR YEARS?? The only reason he runs into her is because her not-dead brother brainwashes her to be this ass-kicking villain he ends up having to go against. Anyways, Duke was an essential member when it came to stopping Cobra. When everyone else was down it was him that stopped the nanobites from destroying all of Paris. And in the end it was him that snapped Ana out of her mind control and then pursued The Doctor to get him arrested. His dedication to the cause is extremely valiant, but maybe he should take some therapy lessons on how to open up to his fiance when there's a little drama in their lives.

10. Carrie Stetko (Whiteout)

"I gotta go out and do the rounds."

Carrie is one hardcore woman who has been fighting for her life from the get go. Even before the investigation in the Antarctic she had to tango with death as she fought off a man her partner released on her, making her trust in others lessen obviously. Then she moves to Antarctica where she now has to deal with the continents first murder, days before she was going to retire permanently. During the investigation, she nearly gets killed like five times and ends up having to get get TWO of her fingers amputated. With all that she still manages to stop the killer as well as confront one of her closest friends. Afterwards though, she decides not to retire, but does ask if she could be stationed someplace warmer.

9. Astro (Astro Boy)

"This is my destiny."

I loved Astro! He was just so nice and kind and helped everyone he could but because he was a robot everyone had to treat him like shit! Even with his father abandoning him, Hamegg wanting to profit off him, and President Stone wanting to destroy him for his blue core energy, he still did all he could to do the right thing and did everything he could to help anyone who was in danger. His level of awareness was also incredible! Like his willingness to sacrifice himself even though he still had the mind of a thirteen year old was incredible and I'm so glad he survived and became Metro City's new protector.

8. Walter Kovacs/Rorschach (Watchmen)

"Men get arrested. Dogs get put down."

I was conflicted with Rorschach because yes, he killed not one, but two dogs, but I totally understand why. They were owned by a man who brutally murdered a little girl and then fed her to them. The birth of Rorschach happens on the night he kills the man instead of turning him into authorities. He starts serves his own brand of justice even after the Watchmen are disbanded. He's the only one that starts investigating The Comedian's murder, which leads him to getting framed for Moloch's murder. In prison, Rorschach takes down a lot of enemies he's put in there before he breaks out with Nite Owl and Silk Spectre II. When Adrian succeeds in killing millions of people to save billions, Rorschach is the only one who refuses to keep quiet and his stubbornness leads to his death by Dr. Manhattan. However, the truth is still in Rorschach's personal journal so who knows how long Adrian's forced peace lasts.

7. Thomas Arashikage/Storm Shadow (G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra)

"Now you will die without a word."

I don't know why but I loved Storm Shadow, but I did have one slight problem. Why on Earth would he wait until he literally dies by Snake Eye's hand to reveal to the other ninja that he wasn't the one that killed their master? That was the only reason Snake Eyes considered him an enemy! And the only reason he took that vow of silence in the first place! Even if he didn't kill his master, he definitely felt some type of way about him favoring this random white kid who showed up so maybe he was still bitter about that and wanted Snake Eyes to think he was the killer. Either way, he was a dangerous foe, probably killing the most people out of everyone in the film. Oh, and did anyone else notice he had the world's first fidget spinner? Because I sure did.

6. John Connor (Terminator Salvation)

"I'll be back."

John Connor has finally shaped into the man Skynet feared he'd be, a leader of the Resistance. He has become a beacon of hope and is always looked upon during times of great stress by his peers, no doubt because of his calm and collected personality he's developed over the years at war. With his mother's tapes to guide him, John ends up doing his best to find his future father, Kyle Reese. He ends up doing so with the help of Marcus Wright, a hybrid human-machine. At first, since he hasn't been told about him by anyone from his future, John doesn't trust him, but when it appears the man is in control of the machine, John teams up with him to rescue Kyle and the other humans from Skynet. In the rescue mission, John comes face to face with The Terminator, who nearly kills him by wounding him to close to the heart. It's Marcus's sacrifice that ends up saving him and allowing him to continue on and lead the resistance against the machines.

5. Logan/Wolverine (X-Men Origins: Wolverine)

"You wanted the animal, Colonel. You got it."

Wolverine is back and this time we get all, or at least most, of the questions to his passed answered. When did he discover his powers? When he killed his father for killing the man he THOUGHT was his actual father. How did he get involved with Stryker? He joined his team of mutants along with his brother, Victor. When Logan didn't want to kill innocent people, he ditched. How did he get his metal claws? Victor shows up and 'kills' Kayla, Logan's girlfriend at the time, so Logan goes to Stryker to put him in the Weapon X program so he can have the adamantium in his skeleton. His biggest struggle is staying on the line between man and animal. It's hard when he ends up fighting almost every character (like the Blob, Agent Zero, and Gambit) and literally fights in every American War since the Civil War. Of course it's discovered Kayla didn't actually die and was working for Stryker but his feelings are still there for her so he keeps his grudge on Victor, defeating him without giving in to his animal side. The biggest threat in the end is Weapon XI, an uber-powered Deadpool. Once he's defeated, the last remaining question is answered. How does Logan lose his memory? Stryker shoots him in the head twice with adamantium bullets and it's only because he's young and his shape that his healing powers saved him. All in all not the greatest origin story but it's the first of a great trilogy with Logan centered on the front lines.

4. Laurie Jupiter/Silk Spectre II (Watchmen)

"I am not afraid."

Laurie had the biggest arc, for me, in this movie. She still puts up with her bitter mother despite disapproving the women's fondness to the Comedian, a man that tried to rape her. She also struggles with her relationship with Dr. Manhattan, who's omniscient persona really puts a strain on them both. She leaves him after reuniting with Daniel, the second Nite Owl. I think in the end she wanted someone who would give their full attention to her when it counted, which is something Daniel was able to do. Back in the crime fighting life, she teams up with Daniel and Rorschach to stop Adrian from destroying the world. In order to do so, she has to confront Dr. Manhattan to get him to help, which ends up with her finding out The Comedian is her real father. Even though she's distressed about it, it gets Jon to help, but they end up being too late. When everything is said and done, Laurie forgives her mother and continues fighting crime with Daniel.

3. Blair Williams (Terminator Salvation)

"I saw a man, not a machine."

Blair Williams is one of the best pilots working for John and the resistance who teams up with Marcus after the pair try to rescue Kyle and Star from the machine gatherers. After taking care of a group of bandits, the pair end up getting close with each other as Blair leads him back to headquarters. During their travels Blair assures Marcus that he's a good guy and that all humans deserve a second chance as long as they want one. When it's discovered Marcus is part machine, Blair sees the human in him and decides to betray the resistance and rescue him. After John forgives her, she ends up flying the plan that rescues them from Skynet Headquarters before it explodes. She grows feelings for Marcus so she's a little upset when he offers to give his heart to John so the other could live, but understands that this is his second chance.

2. Jon Osterman/Dr. Manhattan (Watchmen)

"The world's smartest man poses no more threat to me than it's smartest termite."

The most powerful man on Earth, Jon got his powers as Dr. Manhattan from a freak accident in his lab. With the body of Adonis and powers such as teleporting, flight, multiplying, and growing the size of a titan, there's rare limitations to Jon, which makes him the biggest asset to the United States military. He ends the war with Vietnam by himself and helps Adrian create a world ran by clean energy, but he does have his faults. For one, he treated his ex-girlfriend like shit before he left her for Laurie, who he also failed to care for like she needed him to. However, it's her breakup that makes him give up on humanity and run off to a distant planet. He refuses to help save the world until he discovers the miracle in Laurie's birth, but he ends up too late to save the world from Adrian. When Adrian's plan to bring world peace actually does work, Dr. Manhattan agrees to take the blame so that the peace can remain. He ends up having to kill Rorschach to keep him quiet before saying his goodbyes to Laurie and leaving for another universe.

1. Marcus Wright (Terminator Salvation)

"I am human."

From the beginning I couldn't help but want to to root for this guy. As soon as he wakes up from the future he befriends Kyle and Star and looks after them. He shows Kyle a lot of tricks for survival that the other eventually takes with him when he goes back in time. When the pair get snatched, Marcus tries his best to rescue them, making it his mission to save two people he barely knows. He doesn't think he's a good person, because of what he did in his past, but as Blair points out, he's doing good things now, which is what matters. Even when he discovers he's a machine and that Skynet created him to accomplish John Connor's death, he doesn't give in and proves his human side is in control by helping John rescue everyone. In his final act of redemption, Marcus sacrifices himself by giving his heart to John so that the other could live. With a goodbye kiss from Blair, he dies knowning that he got his second chance at being a good person.

Cinematic Comic Characters Ranked! (Year 2009) Part Three

Joe: Rise of the Cobra, and we got a couple of thrillers with Whiteout and Surrogates. We also get the debut of the controversial Watchmen! Let’s get started with numbers #40-21!

*SPOILERS AHEAD FOR ALL HIGHLIGHTED MOVIES ABOVE*

40. President Stone/Peacekeeper (Astro Boy)

"Declare war! This is gonna get me re-elected."

How did this guy even get elected in the first place? He's an idiot who thought the only way to stay in power was through violent technology. It's his arrogance that gets Toby killed and it's his arrogance that puts the whole city in danger when he still decides to use the red core energy. He ends up getting absorbed by the Peacekeeper and starts a city-wide battle with Astro that only ends when Astro sacrifices himself and connects the two cores. Stone is then arrested by his own men and taken away.

39. Delfy (Whiteout)

"They don't make them like that anymore."

Delfy was just a regular pilot who just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. He's the one who first discovers Weiss's body out on the ice and contacts Carrie. Afterwards, she makes him her personal pilot as she sets up an investigation. This new job ends up nearly killing him twice: Once when he gets buried under fifty feet of snow with the others inside the Russian plane, and another when Haden breaks out and stabs him. He recovers and ends up bonding with Pryce and Carrie for six months until the winter is over.

38. Abel Shaz/Breaker (G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra)

"Is that Double Bubble?"

Although he isn't the only brains on the team, if anyone needs advice on technology, Breaker is your guy. I will always enjoy the member of the squad who understand gadgets like no one else can yet doesn't truly understand most jokes that said. With the nanobite warheads being the most dangerous pieces of technology known to man, Breaker comes in handy in helping the team stop Cobra from bringing whole cities down.

37. Agent Zero (X-Men Origins: The Wolverine)

"It's funny how innocent people tend to die around you!"

For some reason Wolverine and Agent Zero DID NOT get along with each other. Everyone would be joking along with everyone else then all of a sudden they're both threatening to kill each other. The years after Logan leaves Stryker's team doesn't cool off the tension because those two are ready to pop off again when they reunite. It's a pointless rivalry though because we all knew Logan would come out on top, and it's not because he's the main character either. I mean, yeah, Zero is really good when it comes to shooting bullets and jumping over high fences but bullets don't do anything to Wolverine especially once he gets the adamantium in his skeleton. So when the two clash, Agent Zero ends up exploding in a helicopter and Logan...remains unharmed.

36. Sally Jupiter/Silk Spectre (Watchmen)

"I don't hate him because he gave me you."

The original Silk Spectre and one of the few remaining heroes alive from the Minutemen. Sally Jupiter is retired now and totally missing the game, so much that she trains her daughter to be the next Silk Spectre. She reminds me so much of those pageant moms that now live through their daughter's lives to fill young again. Although I'd really like to know why, it's never really explained, only assumed, why Sally goes back to sleep with The Comedian, who tried to rape her previously. The result of their one night stand is Laurie, who ends up coming to terms with it by the time she finds out and confronts Sally about it.

35. Chi-Chi (Dragonball: Evolution)

"Just because my name is Chi-Chi doesn't mean I'm an idiot."

I liked Chi-Chi and I'm pretty sure the only reason why they didn't have her in the movie more was because they knew I'd rank her higher than Goku if they did. I mean if I were in the group hunting Dragon Balls I would have totally added her in once I saw her fighting skills but it never happens. Instead we just see her every time we need someone to flirt with Goku.

34. Maggie Greer (Surrogates)

"It's better this way."

Maggie is Greer's wife and together they lost a son before surrogates became globally used. This causes her to mourn in a unique way where she locks herself in her own room and just lives her life through her surrogate. Even though she cares for Greer, she ignores the distance between them instead for the new fun life she has as a surrogate. When the surrogates are destroyed, she almost kills herself but ends up connecting with her husband again in their child's old room.

33. Dr. Bill Tenma (Astro Boy)

"You're still my son."

It took me a very long time to like Tenma, and I was starting to believe that he was a lost caused until he pulled through in the end. First he completely ignores Toby when he was alive, treating him like a unbothered teacher would a student instead of a father, then goes into a huge depression after he dies. Because of this, he creates Astro, a robot version of Toby but then completely abandons him shortly after and then aids President Stone in capturing him and shutting him down. It isn't until after he removes the core from Astro that he finally accepts him as his son, returning the core and bringing him back to life.

32. Goku (Dragonball: Evolution) 

"Kamehameha!"

With Dragon Ball being a Japanese anime I was glad that there was a lot of Japanese influence in the movie. The setting, the background actors, even some of the core cast but you know who wasn't? GOKU! Like I don't understand the reasoning as to why they thought casting a white guy as Goku would be a great idea when Grandpa Gohan was clearly Asian! But besides that, Goku was lame! He wasn't exciting to watch, which is a huge shame because I loved the watching the show with my older brother when I was little.

31. Bulma (Dragonball: Evolution)

"Everybody has a price."

Bulma was my favorite in the movie. I loved the guns, loved how she handled herself with the boys, and loved all her cool technology that basically was the reason they got around (her compact motorcycle) and found the Dragon Balls (Her D.P.E.). Her interest with Yamcha was fun and flirty and when it came down to business she was ready to help any way she can. She definitely should have been Asian, but at least her character wasn't as bad as Goku's.

30. William Stryker (X-Men Origins: Wolverine)

"Welcome to the war."

Our mutant-hating government official is back and now we get to see how his connection with Logan came to be. On a mission to create the strongest mutant weapon for the government, Stryker creates a team of mutants, including Logan and Victor, to hunt down adamantium. When this costs the lives of innocents, Logan's out, which is bad business for Stryker since Logan's he key to his secret weapon. He creates an elaborate plan, staging the death of Logan's girlfriend, Kayla, and pinning him against Victor to bring him back so he can put the adamantium inside him and successfully create, Weapon X. Of course, everyone that's a mutant figures out he's playing them all and his plans go down the drain with the death of Weapon XI. His adamantium bullets are what cause Logan to lose his memories and they're eventually what kill Kayla, but not before she can control his mind and send him away for good...at least until he turns up again.

29. Cora (Astro Boy)

"Didn't your nanny-bots teach you not to sneak up on people?"

Cora accidentally ran away from Metro City to the surface world where she becomes a sort of leader to the orphan kids Hamegg takes care of. She's the first one to discover Astro and quickly befriends him and he proves he's a kind person. She's the only one who feels betrayed when it's revealed he's actually a robot, but she quickly gets over it and helps him save Metro City from President Stone. After everything is done, she's even able to reunite with her parents.

28. Edward Blake/The Comedian (Watchmen)

"This is a joke. This is all a joke."

The biggest asshole in this movie BY FAR. Like even though everyone had their faults and definitely weren't saints, The Comedian was straight up a bully working for the government. In his worst moments, he beats the shit out of citizens protesting, attempts to rape the original Silk Spectre, and ends up murdering a Vietnamese woman carrying his child! For some reason he suddenly cares about being a father when he wants to get to know his other daughter, Laurie, but ends up just drinking his life away until Adrian shows up to murder him. Even though he dies in the beginning of the movie, his bad punchline of a life haunts everyone throughout the film.

27. Wade Wilson/Deadpool/Weapon XI (X-Men Origins: Wolverine)

"You whip out a couple of swords at your ex-girlfriend's wedding, they will never, ever forget it."

Wade Wilson is very conflicting because even though he's missing his signature costume, he was absolutely spot on when he worked on Stryker's team. He's deadly with the sword, has the same healing abilities as Logan, and will never shut his mouth. Then things got weird. Somehow Stryker is able to gain control over Deadpool and turn him into everything he's not by giving him powers of previous mutants Victor has either killed or kidnapped. Mouth sewn shut, Deadpool becomes Weapon XI and is such a threat it takes both Wolverine and Sabretooth to take him down.

26. Kate Connor (Terminator Salvation)

"I'm a doctor, not an engineer."

I don't know why, but I kind of expected Kate to have a bigger role? Not that being one of the only doctors in the resistance isn't important, because it is, but I always thought she would be like what Barnes was, a second in command. Still, she was fiercely loyal to her husband and was his support when he needed her. He especially needed her towards the end of the film, as it was her hands that operated on him to save his life.

25. Dr. Lionel Carter (Surrogates)

"My son's death will not have been in vain. Not if it heals mankind."

Lionel Carter created surrogates because he wanted people with disabilities, like himself, to live a better life then his partners and company took it to a global scale and by 2017, ninety-eight percent of the world population used a surrogate for basic every day activities. After his son dies for being mistaken for him, Lionle decides enough is enough. Using all his resources he gets a hold of the weapon that killed his son to return the favor to the man responsible. He also creates the ultimate virus that will destroy all the surrogates and kill everyone attached to them. Thinking his plan will never fail, Lionel takes a cyanide pill before seeing his plan come to life.

24. Dr. John Fury (Whiteout)

"I never meant for anyone to get hurt, but Haden got greedy."

I'm not gonna lie, I felt some type of way when it was revealed Doc was working with Haden to smuggle the diamonds. He probably had the closest relationship with Carrie and their personal conversations were some of my favorite scenes in the movie so when it turns out he was working with Haden, the guy who cause Carrie to lose two of her fingers, I was shocked. I guess the silver lining is that once he was caught he didn't fight it. He explained why he did it then walked outside to the deadly snow storm, killing himself.

23. Ana Lewis/The Baroness (G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra)

"Do it. You already killed me once."

I'm so glad it was revealed that Ana was being brainwashed to act as The Baroness the whole time because I just could not accept her willingly participating in the death of millions all because Duke disappeared after her brother's death. No one is that dramatic. Still, as The Baroness she was a force to be reckoned with. She killed all of the men in Duke and Ripcord's old unit, gave Scarlett her first fight, and she helped nearly destroy Paris. Good thing for the Joe's that Duke's gorgeous puppy-dog face broke her out of her mind control and she was able to free him and help stop her evil brother once and for all.

22. Dr. Elefun (Astro Boy)

"Everybody has their destiny, Toby."

Out of all the older males in the film, I truly believe that Dr. Elefun cared the most about Astro. He never saw him as just a robot that can be used for his own personal gain (President Stone, Hamegg) and he definitely didn't think he was a mistake that needed to be destroyed (Dr. Tenma). He really took his time to get to know and bond with Astro, who was still trying to come to terms with himself. I think in the future Elefun will morph into a huge father figure to Astro.

21. Remy Lebeau/Gambit (X-Men Origins: Wolverine)

"You miss me?"

Gambit has been the mutant everyone wanted to see on the big screen ever since the first X-Men came out. He's always nearly made it in the previous films but was cut out at the last minute. Well now he's here and he was a little bit of a let down. He wasn't horrible but he had such a minor role. He's a mutant that escapes Stryker's island before going back to his thief lifestyle in New Orleans. His fight with Logan was cool because we saw his signature staff and kinetically charged deck of cards, but after that he just remains in the background. He takes Logan to the island then is the first one to talk to him after he loses his memory, going his own way shortly after.

Cinematic Comic Characters Ranked! (Year 2009) Part Two

It’s rough coming right after a fantastic year of movies (2008) but 2009 did pretty well for itself. Terminator Salvation is our only sequel and we also get an X-Men spinoff with X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Kids favorite shows come out with Astro Boy, Dragonball: Evolution, and G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra, and we got a couple of thrillers with Whiteout and Surrogates. We also get the debut of the controversial Watchmen! Let’s get started with numbers #60-41!

*SPOILERS AHEAD FOR ALL HIGHLIGHTED MOVIES ABOVE*

60. Master Roshi (Dragonball: Evolution)

"You are the only one who can do it."

It was like Grandpa Gohan never even died once Roshi showed up as his replacement. They both train Goku, they both understand the elemental fighting style, and they both tell horrible jokes. The only difference between them is that when Roshi dies, he gets to come back!

59. Sparx, Robotsky, and Mike the Fridge (Astro Boy)

"Viva La Roboto-lution!"

Sparx, Robotsky, and Mike the Fridge are the founding members of the RRF, an rebel organization that aims to free robots from their human slavery. They're able to recognize that Astro is a robot and 'save' him from the surface kids. Even though their heart is in the right place, the trio never actually do anything that helps Astro and his friends, but that doesn't stop them from trying again and again and again.

58. General Clayton M. Abernathy/Hawk (G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra)

"When all else fails, we don't."

A war veteran, General Hawk has moved on to lead the G.I. Joes in their missions to save the world. After temporarily adding Duke and Ripcord to the team, Hawk does his best to protect the valuable nanobite warheads but ends up getting defeated by Storm Shadow. The beatdown supposedly leaves him in a coma and he doesn't show up again until he bails the team out of the French prison. He leads the team against Cobra in the final battle before officially adding Duke and Ripcord to the team.

57. The Prophet (Surrogates)

"We're not meant to experience the world through a machine."

The Prophet is a man who starts cult following by people who refuse to use surrogates. He has them believe that they are an abomination and an act against God. Turns out The Prophet is actually a surrogate himself, belonging to the surrogates creator, Lionel Canter. The Prophet is just one of the many tools he uses to put on end on the surrogates forever.

56. Fred Dukes/Blob (X-Men Origins: Wolverine)

"Did you just call me... Blob?"

Another member of Stryker's team, Fred Dukes is so strong he can take out a tank missile and it wouldn't leave a scratch on him. After retirment he really lets himself go, becoming the Blob most comic fans are familiar with. He has the information Logan wants but refuses to give it up after he thinks Logan makes fun of his weight. He ends up beating the shit out of Logan in a boxing match but once Logan gets the upper hand and wins, he tells him everything he needs to know.

55. Hamegg (Astro Boy)

"They're robots! They do what I say!"

Hamegg used to create robots for Astro's father, but then moved to the surface world so he could participate in the robot fights. He adopts all the orphan kids he finds and sends them find him parts for the perfect fighting robot. He seems like a nice guy, but in the end he's only nice to his own species. He's able to find out that Astro is a robot and quickly throws him in the ring to get him destroyed. He's stopped by ZOG who then takes care of him while the surface kids go rescue Astro.

54. Grandpa Gohan (Dragonball: Evolution)

"Always have faith in who you are."

Grandpa Gohan was that grandpa who most have been really popular when he was younger so he still cracks jokes now that he's older. He was really nice to take Goku in after the other came flying down to Earth in a meteorite as an infant and started training him how to fight. Didn't expect him to die as fast as he did, but he pops up one more time after Goku 'dies' to tell him he's not actually going to stay dead.

53. Russell Haden (Whiteout)

"You crazy bitch!"

I think it's funny that this guy had the audacity to call Carrie a crazy bitch for threatening to cut off his fingers when he literally killed three people within a couple of days and was willing to kill more. I didn't like Haden at first glance so when Carrie finds out he was the killer, I wasn't that shocked. And I know the scenes where he chased Carrie outside were suppsoed to be serious but I couldn't help but notice that even at the brink of death BOTH of them continued to follow safety procedures when it came to clicking themselves to the safety rope. Of course we see the reason why when Carrie cuts Haden's rope free and he ends up getting blown away by 100 mph winds until he slams his upper body into the facility's pillars, killing him instantly.

52. Andrew Stone (Surrogates)

"You left us no choice but to take you out."

In charge of the police force, Andrew Stone is an old man who uses a younger, more attractive surrogate to do his day-to-day activities. When the creator of the surrogates threatens to shut the whole thing down, his partners give Andrew the weapon to kill him. Andrew hires a amateur hitman who ends up killing Canter's son instead. After being found out by Greer, Andrew pays for his crimes when Canter confronts and kills him.

51. Rex Lewis/The Doctor/Cobra Commander (G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra)

"The time has come for the cobra to rise up and reveal himself."

You know what's always interesting about mad scientists? They always get obsessed with the scientific breakthroughs that would destroy all of humanity instead of helping it. Like can we get a breakthrough in cancer? No, but here's a breakthrough with mind-controlling soldiers and city-destroying nanobites. What's also a trip is that The Doctor willingly goes for it, unlike some of the villains who turn out to be mind controlled. He just loves being evil so it's no one's surprise when he takes command of Cobra himself by the end of the film. Too bad he literally gets arrested right after.

50. Mai (Dragonball: Evolution)

"I could disrupt them."

Piccolo's little assassin who would've been just as boring had it not been for all the fights she ended up having. I'm assuming she's the one that breaks Piccolo free from his prison before she joins him in hunting down the Dragon Balls. She hardly talks but she has a cool trick of turning into people as long as she has a part of their DNA. She uses it on Chi-Chi to get the remaining Dragon Balls. In the end she's shot dead by Yamcha after she nearly kills Bulma.

49. Hershel Dalton/Heavy Duty (G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra)

"Don't make me shoot a woman."

Heavy Duty was kinda my least favorite Joe member-if we're not counting Cover Girl who was there for like, five seconds. I didn't necessarily NOT like him because he was always there when the team needed him and packed a mean punch when it came down to it. He was just a bit boring. Even when he leads all of the Joe's in an ocean fight against Cobra, I found myself more invested in everyone else's mission.

48. Robert Pryce (Whiteout)

"I think you warmed up to me."

I'll say it, I thought Pryce was going to turn out to be the killer the whole time. With the whole backstory on how Carrie's last partner betrayed her, I figured Pryce was going to do the same. He didn't, he was actually innocent. You know what else he was? Useless. He didn't do a damn thing to help solve the case except give Carrie something to worry about. Ok, he did figure out how to get them all out of the plane but Carrie would've figured it out eventually so there really was no reason for him to come down from his UN headquarters.

47. Jennifer Peters (Surrogates)

"It's not safe to be without a surrogate."

Jennifer is Greer's partner on the police force and assists him on Canter's son's murder case. She's seen to be a loyal partner, caring about Greer when his surrogate is destroyed but she's taken out of the game early when Canter kills her in her real body. Her surrogate hangs around and does most of the work when it comes down to Canter destroying the world but is shot down before Greer can really stop her.

46. Zane, Widget, Sludge, and Trashcan (Astro Boy)

"Yay, Astro!"

Zane, Widget, and Sludge are the main surface kids who befriend Astro when he shows up to their world and Trashcan is the robot dog that accompanies them. They become family to Astro, which is nice to see after his father decides not to accept him. Trashcan forever is trying to out Astro as a robot, but when the truth comes out even the dog is sad to see Astro get captured by President Stone. The kids join Cora to rescue Astro and end up interacting with citizens of Metro City once the city falls onto the Surface World.

45. Star (Terminator Salvation)

*silently survives like the young Queen she is*

Star is definitely one of my favorite kids to be portrayed in an apocalyptic world. She's mute, but that doesn't mean she's useless. She has a weird ability to sense when a terminator is nearby, something that helps her and Kyle survive. Plus she actively participates in keeping herself alive, not just relying on the adults. At one point she loads up Kyle's guns and even hands Marcus a flare to blow up a giant machine trying to kill them.

44. John Wraith (X-Men Origins: Wolverine)

"Hey be nice! Or be your approximation of nice."

Probably the friendliest of Styker's team, John Wraith's abilities of teleporting allow him to stop any type of sneak attack from the enemy. He retires and spends his days with Fred Dukes until Logan shows up. John travels with him to New Orleans to find Remy Labeau, but runs into Victor instead. You'd think with his powers, he'd win easily, but Victor is able to predict his moves and crush his spine. He takes a sample of his blood to be used on Deadpool.

43. Yamcha (Dragonball: Evolution)

"Ow, my balls!"

Yamcha kind of came out of nowhere to rob the main group of their belongings, until he agrees to help them out in exchange for him being added to the nonexistent profit they think they'll make once they find all seven Dragon Balls. He sticks around mainly because he has a thing for Bulma, but he bravely helps the group try to fight off Piccolo from destroying the world.

42. The Terminator (Terminator Salvation)

"attacks naked*

I always wondered how the future John Connor was going to meet The Terminator and what he was going to do. I didn't expect the answer to get his ass handed to him, that's for sure. The new and improved Terminator takes on both Connor and hybrid machine, Marcus, easily, all while being completely nude. He manages to mortally wound Connor but ends up freezing after being drenched molten hot magma.

41. Bobby Saunders (Surrogates)

"We just saved about a billion lives there."

Bobby works for the police force and is the only human in the department who doesn't use a surrogate. Against the whole thing he stays in his watch room and looks for crime, coming up with a code to temporarily block a user from their surrogate. This comes in handy at the end when Greer uses the code from saving every human on Earth from dying when a virus destroys all their surrogates.

Cameo Appreciation: The Minutemen (Watchmen)

The Minutemen consisted of Dollar Bill, Mothman, The Silhouette, Hooded Justice, and Captain Metropolis. They mainly appear in flashbacks as they all somehow die one by one. Dollar Bill dies after his cape gets caught on a revolving door, allowing the robbers to take aim and shoot. Captain Metropolis dies in a car accident, which was thought to be suicide. The Silhouette, who looked so damn fierce, was murdered in a homophobic hate crime with her lover. Hooded Justice's death isn't explained but we do see him stop The Comedian from raping Sally Jupiter. Mothman doesn't die but he ends up going crazy and is thrown into a psychiatric ward.

Cameo Appreciation: Professor X, Toad, Wind Dancer, Quicksilver, and Banshee (X-Men Origins: Wolverine)

There were a lot of familiar faces among the mutants kidnapped by William Stryker. Those mutants were Toad, Wind Dancer, Quicksilver, and Banshee. When they escape with the help of Wolverine, Kayla, Emma, and Scott, they end up running into Professor X! With his jet ready, the professor rescues the group and takes them away to his school.

Cameo Appreciation: Sarah Connor (Terminator Salvation)

Even though she's not technically seen, Sarah Connor's voice is in the tapes she recorded for her son, John, to help him in the future. With her guidance, he's able to learn about his father, Kyle, who will eventually go to the past to help keep her safe.

84. Hollis Mason/Nite Owl (Watchmen)

"You were a better Nite Owl than I ever was, Danny boy."

One of the few Minutemen that's still alive, Hollis Mason was the original Nite Owl and is also one of the two heroes to reveal their identity to the public. He came out with a book about his life as a vigilante but after the hype of it died down he ends up opening an auto shop where he enjoys drinking occasionally with Dan.

83. The Hard Master (G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra)

"We need to invite him in and show him the path."

The Hard Master was the man who taught Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes everything they know. I kind of got a little favoritism coming from him when it came to Snake Eyes and it appeared that so did Storm Shadow, who kills him. Or so we think! At the end of the film Storm Shadow admits he didn't kill their master. So if he didn't, who did?!

82. Jared Canter (Surrogates)

"I'm not in the mood for opera."

Jared's murder started the entire film but it wasn't even him that was supposed to die in the first place. He had borrowed his father's surrogate, who was the actual target. His death is the first human murder in several years and starts Lionel Canter's quest for revenge.

81. Daniel DeCobray/The Baron (G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra)

"What a mysterious wife you are!"

The Baron got straight up PLAYED! The Baroness only marries him so Cobra can keep an eye on him and his work in the science field and is constantly leaving him, which makes him wonder where she goes all the time. When she reveals her true intentions, she forces him to weaponize the nanobite warheads before she tricks Storm Shadow into killing him.

80. Mr. Squeegee and Mr. Squirt (Astro Boy)

"I love happy endings!"

These two robots are designed to clean windows (One squirts the water, while the other wipes) in Metro City and are present when Astro discovers he's actually a robot. The two scenes they're in are for comedic relief and they show up at the end to celebrate Astro's victory over President Stone.

79. Travis and Heather Hudson (X-Men Origins: Wolverine)

"We all got a choice, Son."

Travis and Heather start the ridiculous trend of everyone who is nice to Logan, will end up getting killed. After he shows up to their barn naked, the Hudson's cloth him, feed him, and give him advice on forgiveness and revenge. Their thanks? They get gunned down.

78. Courtney A. Krieger/Cover Girl (G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra)

"Their capabilities are beyond anything we've ever encountered."

Cover Girl was a supermodel before she found her true calling in the G.I. Joe department. She's mostly seen as Hawk's assitant, bringing him papers to sign as well as inform him of missions when he needs it. She's technically the only Joe with a revealed identity who dies, getting murdered by Zartan when Cobra invades the Joe facility.

77. Rubin, Mooney, and Weiss (Whiteout)

"Mooney said not to trust that guy."

Rubin, Mooney, and Weiss are the biologists that discover the lost Russian plane and are at the root of this whole murder investigation. It all starts when Weiss's body is found and later Carrie figures out that he was hit with an ax then thrown off a plane after injuring himself. When the investigation starts, Mooney calls Carrie and explains he'll tell her everything at the Russian base he's at. Of course when Carrie shows up he's lying in his own blood. Finally we have Rubin who actually manages to tell Carrie everything about his team finding the plane except for who was the guy killing them! He takes off because he gets spooked by Doc (who ends up working with Haden, the killer) and ends up getting his neck snapped by Haden when he tries to escape.

76. Moloch (Watchmen)

"I have cancer."

A villain in his time, Moloch is an old man who's given up on the crime life now that he's dying of cancer. He gets paid a visit by his drunk archnemesis, The Comedian, and ends up getting murdered by Adrian so the other could frame Rorschach.

75. Orrin (Astro Boy)

"I feel so nervous!"

Orrin is the nanny robot who works in Dr. Tenma's home and takes care of Toby before he's killed. Even though it's very clear that him and other robots have their own personalities, he's constantly belittled by Tenma for trying to enjoy things like playing with paper planes with Astro. It isn't until the end of the movie that Tenma finally treats Orrin a little nicer, even if Orrin still gets freaked out by the change of attitude.

74. Dr. Serena Kogan (Terminator Salvation)

"You're about to do an incredible thing."

Dying of cancer, Dr. Kogan is the one smart enough to come up with a plan to create a human/machine hybrid. She ends up getting Marcus to volunteer after he's sentenced to death. When he arrives at Skynet Headquarters in the future, the machine uses Serena's identity to talk to him.

73. Richard Nixon (Watchmen)

"We can't let these fuckers think we're weak!"

In this altered timeline, Richard Nixon is able to be re-elected for three more additional terms as well as take on Vietnam as a state. After he disbands the Watchmen, he focuses his attention on Russia and the threat of the nuclear war. After the most populated cities are destroyed, Nixon agrees to work with the other world leaders and untie in peace.

72. Miles Strickland (Surrogates)

"I couldn't tell you his name even if my life depended on it."

The dispensable hitman. Miles is a dread, a human who doesn't use surrogates, and is hired to use the new technology that kills a host through their surrogate on Lionel Canter. He's able to avoid police but ends up killed by his own people in The Prophet's community. It later makes sense as to why he died, seeing as The Prophet was actually a surrogate belonging to the man he tried to kill in the first place.

71. Bradley (X-Men Origins: Wolverine)

"I always thought it would be Wade to come knocking on my door."

A mutant on Stryker's Special Ops team with the ability to control technology. Since he never participated in the killings of innocent citizens, I think Bradley also didn't agree with it but didn't have the courage to quit like Logan did. When he retires, he joins a circus but it isn't long before Victor shows up and takes him out.

70. Toby Tenma (Astro Boy)

"Up and onward."

Toby's death was so sad. He was such a bright kid and even if he had a crushing curiosity that eventually caused his downfall, a lot of his death could be blamed on his father's company as well as President Stone's arrogance. How did no one, human or robot, not notice the kid was in the room? With their technology so advanced they don't have scanners that alert every time someone enters? His death leaves his father in a huge depression which eventually leads to him creating Astro.

69. Zartan (G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra)

"This is going to be the achievement of a lifetime."

Zartan works for Cobra with a neat skill of blending in with his disguise. He's pretty decent, managing to sneak up on Hawk and Cover Girl and escaping the facility unharmed before he even gets his upgrade from The Doctor. After going through the procedure, Zartan can now physically alter his body to change into whoever he pleases. Who's his first target? None other that the President of the United States. Zartan kills him in secret before returning to the oval office, the U.S. government completely unaware about his true identity.

68. Janey Slater (Watchmen)

"I stuck by you and this is how you repay me!?"

The guys in this movie were pretty douche-y in this film and Dr. Manhattan was no exception when it came to his ex-girlfriend Janey. She was with him before his terrible accident and she stayed with him after. At first I thought he left her because she refused to be with him in his 'dying' moments, but he admits to leaving her because she's not as attractive as Laurie, which is just SO fucked up. It's also believed Jon gave her cancer, which she's dying from, but it was actually Adrian in his twisted plan to heal the world.

67. Barnes (Terminator Salvation)

"I didn't catch that last part."

Barnes is John Connor's right hand man in the resistance and is loyal to him with every decision he makes. With his brother dying early on in the film, his hatred for the machines makes things difficult when Blair tries to rescue Marcus. However once John deems Marcus ok, so does Barnes and he continues his job in the war against the machines.

66. ZOG (Astro Boy)

"I'm old school."

ZOG was one of the first robots ever created and was abandoned on the Surface World when he stopped working. More than fifty years later he gets revived by Astro using his blue core energy and ends up getting an entire makeover by the surface kids. When Hamegg proves to be a jerk, ZOG saves Astro and nearly kills Hamegg but Astro stops him. ZOG saves the day one last time when he uses the same blue core energy to revive Astro back to life.

65. Laird James McCullen XXIV/Destro (G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra)

"I've finally taken my place in the long line of McCullens."

Destro comes from a long line of weapon dealers who happens to be very power hungry. To have the world's leaders on their knees, he tricks the U.S. military to fund his work on the nanobite warheads then steals them back once they're finished. This starts an all out war with the G.I. Joe's. He successfully manages to bring down the Eiffel Tower in Paris but ends up burning most of his face off when he goes against Duke in his jealous rage over Ana. The Doctor saves him and uses the nanobite technology to harden his face, turning him to Destro soon after. And even after that, he gets arrested by the Joe's and is taken to a high guarded prison.

64. General Ashdown (Terminator Salvation)

"This is war, Connor. Leadership has its costs."

Many people in the resistance believe John Connor is the key to ending the war, General Ashdown isn't one of them. In fact, he flat out tells John that he believes he's actually a fake prophet. Since he's a leader of the resistance, you can see how this has them butt heads, especially when it comes to destroying Skynet Headquarters. At first they're on the same page but when John discovers there are human prisoners, including his future father, he tries to stop Ashdown, who believes casualties are necessary. In the end it's Ashdown and his leader that end up being casualties when they accidentally gives themselves up, allowing Skynet to blow them up.

63. Scott Summers/Cyclops and Emma Silverfox (X-Men Origins: Wolverine)

"I can do this!"

It's our first time seeing a young Scott Summers and an Emma who isn't Emma Frost that can harden her skin to diamond. They're both kidnapped by Victor to be experimented by Stryker for Deadpool, Scott's optic blasts eventually making the cut. When Wolverine frees them, they take off with the other young mutants, Emma using her diamond skin to block students and Scott blasting away the shooters. Eventually they run into Professor X who takes them with him to his school of mutants.

62. Lord Piccolo (Dragonball: Evolution)

"With this Dragon Ball, I take my vengeance upon the Earth."

Once again we have a villain that was absolutely BORING!!! Nearly every time Piccolo was on the screen I got bored and there was a least one scene that my eyes got heavy and threatened to glaze over. For someone who was trapped for a thousand years, he was very calm once he was free. He spends the whole movie collecting the Dragon Balls only to be stopped pretty easily in the end.

61. Big Figure (Watchmen)

"While everyone's distracted, we thought we'd bring you a little housewarming gift."

Many criminals were put in jail because of Rorschach and Big Figure was one of them. When Rorschach is thrown in the same jail, Big Figure wastes no time in trying to kill him with his goons. His plan fails horribly, and he ends up getting killed by Rorschach by the end of it. They don't show what happens, only that there's a lot of blood and toilet water so the rest is really up to the imagination.
