From First Meeting to Feelings – Zack Lee x Reader

The first meeting

It wasn’t supposed to be a big day. You were just passing by the gym after school, waiting on your drink from a nearby convenience store, when you noticed a scuffle breaking out in the alley next to it. A couple of guys were circling someone—and then him. Zack Lee.

You’d heard of him. Everyone had. The infamous fighter, always getting into trouble, always around Vasco or Mira. But in person, he was something else. Broad shoulders, intense gaze, fists clenched—but strangely calm. He moved like he knew exactly what he was doing.

When you stepped closer, unsure whether to help or run, Zack ended the fight with one swift blow that sent the last guy reeling. Then…he noticed you. Eyes narrowing just slightly.

“You saw that?” he asked, like it was a problem.

But you just nodded and said, “Yeah. And... nice form.”

He blinked. That definitely wasn’t the response he expected.

That was the first time Zack Lee felt a little off-balance around someone—not because of a fight, but because you didn’t look at him like he was a delinquent or a monster. Just a guy doing what he had to.

The second time meeting

You saw him again a few days later, sitting outside the gym, nursing a bruised knuckle with an annoyed expression. You offered him your spare bandage and a juice box from your bag without a word.

He stared at it. “Juice?”

“Apple. Best for recovery,” you said with a teasing smile.

He actually laughed. It was short, a little surprised. But he took it.

After that, it became a thing—running into each other in the most random places. A convenience store. A late-night corner when you both couldn’t sleep. A ramen shop on a rainy day.

When feelings started to creep in

Zack didn’t really get it at first. Why he started remembering your schedule. Why he’d get weirdly alert when someone else was talking to you too closely. Why he started going to that same store at the same time every day even though he didn’t need anything.

But the moment it clicked for him was simple: You were talking to Vasco, laughing, and Zack—usually cool and unbothered—found himself clenching his jaw.

“Do I… like them?” he muttered to himself later that night, lying on his bed, staring at the ceiling like it betrayed him.

And then came the realization—you weren’t afraid of him, didn’t treat him like a thug or some reckless fighter. You talked to him like he was normal. You made him feel human, even when he didn’t think he deserved that.

How he acts after that

He starts acting weird (for Zack standards). Offering to walk you home but pretending it’s “just on the way.” Giving you his hoodie when you’re cold but insisting it “smells like sweat.” He starts texting you more—awkward messages with too many ellipses, like:

> “Hey... you okay?”

“U busy?? Got extra ramen if u want…”

And every time you smile at him or touch his arm when you laugh, it completely messes with him.

Eventually, Mira notices and goes, “You like them, don’t you?”

Zack: “No—what—shut up.”

But yeah. He’s already gone for you.
