How do we feel about a zombie apocalypse au?
On the other hand guess whose been playing RE2 and RE8 bc those are the only games I could get for free.
Kind of inspired by Resident Evil in the sense of manmade viruses. This post is very quickly going to devolve into me Rambling.
Superpowers are still a thing but a worldwide pandemic before the outbreak caused every metahuman who caught it to lose a lot of their power. They still have them, for the most part, they're just much weaker.
And a LOT of people caught this. Whether it be through general human stupidity or an outbreak in prisons, superpowers were hard to come by.
The outbreak was caused by somebody trying to make a cure for the virus, but they ended up making a worse virus.
And this caused the apocalypse.
Mecha Man is beyond repair. Has been for years. There isn't really a way to fix a giant mech when the world falls apart, there's not an easy way to get the right type of metal to fix it, there's not a way to safely weld pieces back together when all of the nearby gas stations that sold propane are overrun by zombies, and one wrong bullet will cause the whole thing to explode.
Robert Robertson III is what people would refer to as a doomsday prepper. Thankfully he still had quite a bit of money when the threat of a global pandemic was only a threat. He... overprepared, to say the least. At least at the time it felt overkill.
His shitty apartment was filled to the brim with things he'd need for an apocalypse. Non perishable food, weapons, bullets, guns, a bow and probably too many arrows. He hadn't bought so much toilet paper like a lot of other people had when the pandemic started, even before the apocalypse, he was regretting it a little now. He had enough to last.
The internet was dead, most people who had functioning phones couldn't care less about social media anymore. The only thing he ever used his for was to check the news. And even then, news was scarce. He had to listen to the radio most of the time, and it was only a matter of time until he ran out of batteries for the thing.
He was alone, his only companion was his dog, Beef. It was a wonder to meet an animal that hadn't been infected too. He protected Beef with everything he had.
He didn't exactly have much. But he had enough to keeo himself and his dog fed, keep himself and his dog alive.
How does he meet the Z team? Outbreak in his building. He has to leave, fast. He takes a bag full of food, bullets, a couple pairs of clothes, and takes Beef, and gets the hell out of there.
He runs into Chase, who is a little older than he should be but he's still pretty young, considering he can't exactly use his power anymore. Well, he can, he's just not nearly as fast as he used to be.
Chase takes him in, introduces him to Mandy, and then Mandy introduces him to the rest of the survivors. Courtney, Janelle, Colm, Malevola, Victor, Royd, Mr Whiskey, Galen, et cetera.
Something something Flambert, something something Chad taking care of his niece after his sister got infected and Robert taking care of Beef, its not the same but its similar enough to where they bond. Even after Chad finds out that Robert is mecha man, he can't really be all that mad anymore considering they need each other to survive, and Chad's niece would KILL him if he hurt Robert in any way, with or without him being Mecha Man.
Chad is angry about it, obviously, but he can't set Robert on fire as much as he might want to in the moment.
He gives Robert the silent treatment for a few days and then they talk. Kind of. Chad kinda just brings him food and says "you're still a bitch but my niece likes you, so.. whatever the fuck, grudge over or something."
Herman joins the survivors later, alone, afraid, cold. It was a wonder his grandma hadn't gotten infected earlier but it was still hard. Something something Watermechabae something something poly z team
I think in a group of survivors like this, they'd all grow close pretty fast. Trust is absolutely necessary in a situation like this, if you can't trust someone then that can spell the end of the group.
And so if that sparks a bunch of complicated romantic feelings between almost everybody, so be it. If nobody puts a label on anything because labels don't matter in a post apocalyptic world, then so be it.
