You know about the idea of Nightwing as Superbat's unacknowledged child basically, another HUGE potential angst corner is him being jealous of Jon? Not as much as Jon himself as the general idea of being seen as Superman's son, including by Clark himself.
It's not that he resents a kid, but he sometimes looks at him & Clark together ans at him wearing the House of El crest and wonders...Because there he is, the child that was in Clark's life before Jon was even a concept, adorned with a Kryptonian name as his mantle, but it doesn't seem to matter to anybody, including his said parents.
And he loves Uncle Clark, but he has had moments growing up wondering how he would react to him slipping a "dad" in their conversation
Like, I just find really interesting the idea of the entire "unrequited" Superbat situation creating underlying tension between Clark and Dick for a change. With Bruce it's easy in this case, despite their ups and downs, he is undoubtedly his parent, but Clark...?
And imagine, the only thing standing in the way of Dick and Clark having that outwardly-named relationship is Bruce’s insistence (and maybe Clark’s too) that Clark is an uncle, not a father. Because if he was a father too, that makes Bruce’s relationship with Clark….different. They’re not two separate entities helping parent a child. And Clark’s relationship to Dick runs through Bruce…
