The Quinotaur is a sea monster from European folklore. Referred to as "the beast of Neptune" and "the bull with five horns," it is usually depicted as an aquatic bull or a cross between a bull and a fish.
First mentioned in the 7th century Frankish Chronicle of Fredegar, the Quinotaur is said to have raped the wife of Chlodio, king of the Franks, and is subsequently the progenitor of the line of Merovingian kings.
