"And where do you think you're going?" Mr Terrific sighed. "We're in the middle of a debrief."
"Yeah, no, I'm late for a thing. So-" Guy started to move towards the door.
"Hey asshole, if Big Blue and Bats can manage, then so can you-" Oliver yelled out.
"I doubt the Boy Scout and Mr Vengeance are married," Guy laughed and left.
The room was silent and dumbfounded.
"Did he say married?" Clark asked slowly.
"Maybe it was code for something." Diana offered.
"Nah. He's gotta be lying. Batman would know if he had a wife." Hal laughed.
"Yeah, like, who'd marry him?" Barry nodded.
"He is. Married, I mean." Bruce said, making every head in the conference room whip towards him.
"Excuse me?"
"You knew?"
"Since when?"
"Why didn't you ever tell us?"
Bruce was bombarded with questions and exclamations which didn't stop until he cleared his throat. "It's his personal life. It never interfered with League business so I didn't think it was for anyone to know."
"Guy is married? Like, actual, hand to god, vows and rings- Married?" Clark asked, still not believing it. Bruce nodded. "Well, I'll be." He whispered slumped back into his chair.
"Before or after he became a Lantern?" John asked.
"Does it matter?" Bruce questioned.
"Well yeah-" Oliver nodded, "Meaning if she's with him for the ring and playing a long con or he's actually likeable to someone."
"Highschool sweethearts." Bruce grunted and that shocked everyone even more.
"So... someone met him and they said more?" Shiera was flabbergasted.
"Perhaps it's a mind control situation?" J'onn offered and everyone around nodded in agreement.
Bruce sighed softly. "It's not. They're a couple."
"Wait- Why are you talking about her like-" Hal paused then gasped, "Oh my god. Holy shit. You've met her, haven't you?" He laughed in shock. Bruce nodded once and the room erupted again with questions.
"Yes." The answer cut through all the questions. "Guy told me a few years ago after a particularly bad injury during one of his off-planet missions." Bruce explained.
It had been three years ago. Guy was in the medbay. It had been touch and go for a bit but he'd pulled through.
"You asked for me?" Bruce entered, his cape bellowing behind him. Guy was sitting in the bed, twiddling his thumbs. "Well?"
"I need to talk to you. Full confidentiality. Please." He said. That made Bruce pause because Guy Gardner did not say please. Bruce nodded. "I know you know about her." He swallowed, "And I just- If anything ever happens to me-"
"The League will take care of-" Bruce started but Guy shook his head.
"No. I want the exact opposite." He smiled a little, that dumb little crooked smile. "The League will want to help and swarm her and she'll hate every minute of it. Just-" He sighed and looked at Bruce, "If I die, just tell her that- that I tried my best to come home to her. That she was my final thought."
Bruce nodded. "Of course."
Guy had explained what his assets were, what his locker combo was, how to deliver all his things to you- Everything in case anything ever went wrong.
"I just can't believe that he's married and half of us aren't." Hal shook his head then turned to Bruce. "What's she like?" The others nodded, looking at Bruce for more information.
"It's not my place to say." Bruce tried to deflect.
"Come on, Bats. Please." Barry pouted and scooted his chair closer. "Just a little."
Bruce hated how he couldn't say no Barry. He reminded him too much of Dick. So he sighed and groaned.
"She's a normal civilian woman. Teaches the third grade and spends time at old homes when Guy is off planet." Bruce said and before anyone could ask more, he raised his hand and stood. "That is all you'll get from me."
Just as he was about to leave, Guy rushed back in.
"Forgot my jacket-" He said, grabbing it from the back of the chair. "Uh- What?" He paused, confused why everyone was looking at him. Immediately, everyone looked away, acting like they're busy with something. Guy's gaze narrowed but he didn't push. "Right- Later, nerds." He threw a peace sign and left in a haze of green.
It was late and you were currently curled up on the couch. Papers were scattered on the coffee table for a project that was halfway done. You heard the door open and close but didn't move much. You felt a warm kiss to your cheek and you smiled.
"You're late." You hummed, not opening your eyes still.
"I'm sorry, darling-" He mumbled, his body blanketing over yours, almost squishing you, "The Nerd Squad wanted to go over mission reports. I left as soon I was done with mine."
"Hmmm my poor baby's the victim, huh?" You laughed, pushing him a little so he'd move his weight off of you. He moved but he didn't laugh, which made you pause. "What happened?"
"I might have accidentally let it slip that I'm married." He mumbled.
"How did you manage that? After this long?" You were surprised to say the least.
Guy groaned and hid his face in your neck, "Terrific was going on and on and on and I just snapped and left because I was already running late-" He explained, "Then Arrow said something about needing to stay because Bats and Boy Scout were too and I told him that they weren't married and left-"
"Ah-" You hummed. "Was bound to happen eventually, baby-"
"I know but you were the only thing that was mine." He whined a little. "As a Lantern, everyone wants something- A favour, information, be saved or some constant shit but you- Baby, you were all mine and now I gotta share you too." He pouted so adorably.
"Honey... I'm yours. I promise. Always will be." You ran your fingers through his hair. "You'll never have to worry about that."
