started a relisten of TAZ Balance with @evilgirlmechanicock and something really funny is that justin really struggles to quite find taako's voice until the scene where he charms the bugbear and finally settles into smarmy foppish dandy cranked to 11. it's a voice so directly ripped out of old queer coded movie villains that it really is almost genuinely homophobic, if not for the fact that justin is simply the last survivor of a doomed planet of old hollywood open secret bisexuals who crash landed as a baby on the homestead of ma and pa mcelroy and got raised on earth as a heterosexual west virginian parrothead

D&D has become so much more fun since it clicked for me that I'm not the character, I'm the writer in charge of the character

If you're the character, bad rolls and bad calls reflect badly on you. You want to Win because that means you're doing D&D right, and if things go wrong, it's because you're doing it wrong.

If you're the writer, your number one job is to do things to your character that the character does not like because that gives them the chance to be interesting.
