Hi everyone, in my town there's only one business left that's entirely staffed & owned by Deaf people, & they got cleaned out overnight. Everything is gone, from the cash, food, laptops, to the tech they use to communicate with community members who can't sign.
This cafe has been giving free meals to people who've lost their SNAP benefits under the current administration, no questions asked. They were giving free meals to public school teachers when they needed it. They are a non-profit that runs on a financial deficit & all they do is give to the community.
They are asking people donate through their Zeffy campaign (where you can buy their merch! I have a tote bag). Please consider donating &/or spreading the word.

hi, everyone. the situation at home has gotten progressively worse, with my father turning physically abusive and breaking my nose a few weeks ago. People making pseudo-intellectual arguments love to be like "for all we know, the opposite could be true, have you considered that huh? we just don't know" about things that we very much know are true because people have in fact asked themselves that question and looked into it before.
This isn't a novel idea nobody has ever considered before, you're just not very well-educated on this topic. Which would be fine if you didn't insist on talking about it like you are.
A good example is all the animal agriculture lobby bootlickers on here going "well, you say veganism is better for the environment, but have you considered that some plant foods could be worse for the environment & other personal lifestyle choices could be more important actually?" like researchers haven't looked into that many times & found that no you don't have a point, and eating animal products is in fact always worse impact-wise no matter how you spin it or what you compare it to.
There are studies on this that have been done! You'd know this if you were actually curious about the topic.

I hate how ignorance is something people brag about. “I don’t know what that is, so I’m assuming no one does and that’s cool to me!” stfu and seek knowledge please. It’s fine to acknowledge you can never know everything and there’s always more info to learn. But assuming because you don’t know, it can’t be known, is such obnoxious bs. It’s not cool to be ignorant actually. Why are you proud of it.
It wouldn't be as bad if they didn't then also reject all the new to them information. It should be exciting to you that people have in fact act themselves the same questions as you and looked into it!
Like when I was younger, it was believed that addiction is a hereditary disease/disorder. I didn't question it much. Recently, I read a book about addiction that debunked that idea... when it was first published in 2008. The information was there, I just didn't look into it.
It also made intuitive sense to me, because when you live somewhere with a lot of alcoholism, it does appear to run in families, and I believed at the time that it didn't in mine. Looking back, my father would drink all day every day, he was just self-employed in a profession where that's normalized, and was always very functional, and my mother abuses OTC painkillers in secret because outwardly she's anti-pharma.
Sometimes, "common sense" is wrong. It's always good to double-check things you consider to be true based on no evidence whatsoever.

There's Jupiter from Jupiter ascending, who isn't a reincarnation in the traditional sense, she just happens to have the exact DNA sequence of the character who owned the earth and is treated like a reincarnation by that logic.
Are we talking a girl who'll see her robot girlfriend and go "there you are! SMOOCH!" or are we talking a girl who'll see her robot girlfriend and get a vague sense of de ja vu, or we talking a girl who'll just have a predictable reaction and always fall in love with the same robot.
Oh, and for that matter does she get a new face between reincarnations like Aang or can her robot find her by her familiar face?

I'm sure Jax can resonate with people, and represent real trans experiences. But because Goose has neglected her other characters and made them cater for Jax, you get a world where a terribly abusive transfem is granted all the power she wants.
And because she is the only transfem, and all the gender minorities are being oppressed by her, and the only men are either one tier above her in privilege or at war with the writer's saneism, her violence stands out. NOBODY except the guy who can make entire worlds from his fingertips does something as violent as Jax (very weird, given their mind-breaking situation). Because of this, she ends up being this incredibly privileged and dangerous individual that terfs have been fearmongering about since Mitchfest.
It reminds me of how people used to make all the good guys white, able-bodied, non-queer and conventionally attractive, while making the villains brown, disabled, queer, ugly (or coded like this). The message was clear: these traits are tied to morality. Roahl Dahl tried to justify this in his books, and people are still acting as if it's the wokest thing ever written. I think Goose might've subconsciously written this trope into her character.
I think people who don't want phallo or any other bottom surgery should shut up sometimes.
Like all you have to say, is like: I don't think any off the available options are suitable for me, it's too expensive for me, I am not comfortable with the surgery, I have medical restrictions, I am fine with what I have, or like the million other completely valid reasons. But the moment it goes into hating on the results, or surgery, or calling it ugly etc, that's when I get mad.
