does anyone know if i can like block sites from appearing in my google images searches??? i keep getting those awful ai generated things with a hand coming out of a man's neck and just straight up not what i was looking for, because this was in a search for "curly hair in medieval paintings". it happens every time i search for anything vaguely art-reference-like and it's so fucking annoying and it clutters my search results so much. i don't wanna add specific commands to the query every time too, what i need is like a browser extension or something
Download uBlacklist for Firefox. Blocks sites you specify from appearing in Google search results
okay i found one! it works! everyone come get your blacklist 👍👍👍
I made a list of as many ai sites i could find to block with ublacklist, just copy and paste them in ublacklist's options menu
hello tumblr users! do you hate .webp files? well do i have bad news for you!
google, the company responsible for webp, is now trying to inflict a new incompatible image format on the collective users of the internet. they have dropped support in chrome for the most promising new image format, a backwards-compatible updated version of jpeg, known as jpeg xl.
instead, they are trying to push their own worse format, avif, on everybody. the reason they prefer avif is because it is based on their previous video format, av1, and this would make it slightly cheaper for them to create scrolling previews on youtube videos.
if you don’t want google to make your web experience worse, again, you can comment on their decision on this chromium bug, as long as you have a google account.
Also PLEASE INSTALL FIREFOX FOR THE LOVE OF GOD STOP USING CHROME OR ITS DERIVATIVES (basically* any browser that isn’t Firefox or Safari is gonna be a chromium fork)
There’s a great add-on for Firefox that circumvents webp formats!
Download Save webP as PNG or JPEG (Converter) for Firefox. Convert any image (WebP, AVIF, etc.) to PNG or JPEG (with choice of quality) for
HBOmax is fucking wonderful cartoons in the ass right now so here's how you can watch some of them (THIS WILL BE UPDATED AS I FIND MORE)
gomovies.sx has OK KO, Infinity Train, Mao Mao Heroes of Pure Heart, Elliott from Earth, Summer Camp Island, Aquaman: King of Atlantis, Close Enough, Dodo, Esme & Roy, The Fungies, Little Ellen, Mighty Magiswords, The Ollie and Moon Show, Tig n' Seek, Uncle Grandpa, Victor and Valentino, and Yabba Dabba Dinosaurs.
which is every cartoon network show being removed with the expections of Messy Goes to Okido, Mia's Magic Playground, Odo, Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures, and The Runaway Bunny.
It's not a cartoon, but Theodosia is also getting removed and is also on gomovies.sx
I haven't looked a ton into it but wcostream.com should also have at least some of these titles, I am sure they can be safely downloaded from the site by right clicking on the video once you've started playing an episode, I don't know what specific titles are on it.
This has every episode of Infinity Train if gets removed from gomovies.sx
This has the first 28 episodes of Mao Mao Heroes of Pure Heart
@dogdayafternoon1975 here on tumblr has a good guide to burning dvds posted recently here:
saw a post abt HBO removing shows that suggests ppl just “burn dvds” but everyone doesnt know how to do that so here is one way to do that
Also if you're mad about this like many others, make sure to wreak havoc on social medias of course, but if you have an account for it go to help.hbomax.com to give feedback. When you do this don't just spam them, say what you are upset about and list specific shows. Remember some of these shows had/have an entire season that was about to air through hbo and now the creators of them are unsure if that's going to happen now because of this. The creators of these shows weren't notified, at all. HBO is going this just to save money on taxes. Animation should be preserved and accessible!
some notes on drawing fat bodies in a stylized or cartoony art style! i tried to explain and illustrate things i keep in mind while drawing :)

Just me crying in the bathroom so I don't wake my partners with this, fuck.
So to sum up: CT and DC have passed laws making it illegal to extradite someone to another state if they are being charged in that other state for crimes pertaining to abortion or trans health care, and makes it legal to sue and get your money back if you are targeted by a TX-style "bounty" law. DC also includes "crimes" of consensual adult sex, gay and interracial marriage and cohabitation and providing or using contraception.
This is, as the thread explains, basically legal interstate warfare. CT and DC's laws bar compliance with such laws.
This is, on one hand, kind of terrifying, because this is where we are now. It's going to get worse long before it gets better.
On the other hand... holy shit, someone fucking did something.
Someone fucking did something real.
This may not be AS good, but Washington just got an exec order that state police WILL NOT cooperate with an investigation by another state as to whether someone came here for an abortion

The New York Times is tracking abortion laws in each state following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

Our current landlady is the very image of one of those landlords who’d be spared the guillotine.
She’s an older, polite, maternal (white, middle class) woman who just happened to have enough money to buy a spare house, and is renting it to top up her pension. She reads The Guardian and asks after my family and does the occasional repair when necessary. She’s not one of those evil landlords.
She also just repeatedly lied to our faces about our contracts to try to get us to forfeit most of the rights we have as tenants. She also visits frequently, criticising how we live and reminding us that our home belongs to her. She also condescendingly and unnecessarily explains to us how boilers and washing machines and carpets work.
She explains to us how renting works.
She explains it with an indulgent smile, like a grandmother talking to a child, as if she’s being terribly patient about correcting our misunderstandings.
And she lies.
She lies because as much as she wants to convince us, everyone else, and even herself that she’s a good person, our entire relationship is based on the power she holds over us. She uses her wealth and position in society to extort payment from us, who have nowhere to live. We sacrifice to her the majority of the income we spend our lives earning, just so we can have a roof over our heads. But any time we don’t show proper deference to her, she could have us out on the street in weeks or months. We’d lose our home, because to her it is merely an asset which in no way belongs to us, the people who live there.
Today she repeatedly lied to us about our contract, and about the law, because she wanted us to have the minimum legal power possible. If I didn’t organise with a local tenants’ union, I wouldn’t have known my rights. And if I didn’t have the security of being a member of that union behind me, I never would have had the guts to challenge her. My housemate had no idea she was lying, and would have trusted her, signing away what few rights we had under the law.
As part of this tenants’ union, I’m always fighting with the worst landlords - the ones who keep people living in squalor, the ones with a dozen properties, the ones who are violent and abusive. But today has reminded me that even the “nice” landlords are still scum.
A genuinely good person who has enough spare money to buy a spare house (which is a lot of money! they wouldn’t need more!) would just let people who need a home live there, not bleed them of their income for the privilege of a warm place to sleep.
Never trust a landlord.
But more importantly, join a tenants’ union, and take back the power they hold over you. It was one of the most empowering things I’ve ever done.
In London, I recommend London Renters Union.
In Scotland: Living Rent.
In the rest of the UK: ACORN.
+ there are tenants’ unions all over the world, and housing co-ops where everyone who lives there part-owns their home and there’s no landlord to answer to

What is this list? This is a list of areas and towns in Canada that have above average levels of racist incidents, disproportionately white
This is my list of sundown towns and regions known for racism in Canada. It is in no way complete, and I will continuously add to it as people submit more entries to me via dm/ask/submission.
If you know of a place that I have not yet included, please reach out and let me know!
Based on my research, this is the only existing list of sundown towns in Canada. I am compiling this in the interest of safety for racialized people.
Welcome to the space age, ladies and gentlemen
This is really quite a big deal. A tremendous amount of modern research ends up being sold to journals which require unreasonable payments to access it and only pay the original authors a pittance. It’s nice to see an agency like NASA deliberately widebanding its findings.
Not sure if people fully realize just how big of a deal this is. THIS is how science is advanced. Not through biased corporate research, business secrets, marketing, paywalls and patent wars. But through open, uncensored and unrestricted public access to knowledge.

Ways to support Ukraine 🇺🇦
More than 500,000 people have already left Ukraine due to the invasion by the Russian Federation. The European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management estimates that roughly 18 million Ukrainians will be affected by the conflict in humanitarian terms, with 7 million internally displaced and 4 million seeking refuge elsewhere. To help those still in Ukraine, as well as Ukrainian refugees, we’ve compiled this list of resources.
HelpUkraineWin.org has a collection of vetted and trusted resources, charities, and organizations to help Ukraine.
Some additional ways to donate:
Vostok SOS provides immediate evacuation support.
Malteser International provides essentials for Ukrainian refugees.
Ukraine Crisis Media Center provides fundraising links and a list of tips for sharing information.
Misinformation spreads fast on social media. It is more important than ever to share accurate, verifiable news and information. Here are some resources to learn how to identify misinformation:
This video from the nonprofit WITNESS shares tips for identifying authentic sources (available in English, Spanish, Ukranian, Russian, and Arabic).
These visual verification tips, also from WITNESS, provide information on verifying images and videos (available in English and Spanish).
This interview with NPR contains tips for identifying fake TikToks.
In light of current events, here are some important resources for those who want to support Ukraine.
Have you been to art school/are you planning to go?
i went to a liberal arts college & graduated w a BA in fine arts. it was kind of a huge waste of time & money except that i got to study abroad in italy, that part ruled
if u r interested in studying art after HS there are a bunch of cheaper options than jumping straight into uni. community college is a good way to get ur general uni requirements without spending as much $$$ & then transfer to uni once those more generalized classes are out of the way
u can also take art classes from ur local arts program/academy & just pay class by class instead of committing to a whole 4 year deal. figure drawing, oil painting, ceramics, w/e
join an atelier if u have the time & money!! its a great way to build up your skills & develop relationships w other students/artists/teachers without the uni price tag
also there are hundreds of amazing online courses taught by talented professionals in every subject u can think of from storyboarding to digital painting to whatever idk. maybe someone in the comments can provide some good examples im tired lmao
basically i figured out all the cartoon stuff & digital stuff i know on my own but i should learn more stuff from people who already know things lol idk IM TIRED what was the question where am i
Heres your reminder to use literally anything but chrome
For those that don't know - the EFF is the Electronic Frontier Foundation - a nonprofit that defends and fights for privacy and freedom rights. IE: They are trustworthy. This is a real thing that has started happening lately and it wouldn't really be as big of an issue if Google didn't have there hands on the majority of the internet - which they do, ...
Almost every alternative browser you can think of is based off of Chrome. Yes, even Microsoft's Edge is now based off Google's services. Several Chromium-based browsers like Brave and Vivaldi have said they will block this new development but who knows how long they will have the option of doing that before Google forces it.
For the love of the internet and everything on it that you love - please use Firefox. They are one of, if only, the last browsers that is completely independent of Google. Google has swallowed everything else up.
You can test if your browser has added this new bullshit by visiting this service hosted by the EFF. https://amifloced.org/ I also suggest using some of the EFF's other privacy services such as Privacy Badger.
In light of the news that Hasbro is considering using multiple properties it owns for NFTs, including D&D, I would just like to remind everyone that PDFs of virtually all D&D source books are available online for free if you look and it's always moral to pirate from WotC
