i guess i understand in the abstract what the appeal of trucy and edgeworth having a fluffy domestic father-daughter relationship is to the kind of person who is really into Found Family, but man i just can't help but find that take on their potential relationship to be a fundamental disservice to all of the interesting parts about either of their characters.
i was just about to type up an opinion here but then i realized i had this conversation with katty in discord like two weeks ago so i can just screenshot myself and don't have to type anything up again
actually i lied i am going to keep typing more stuff because this is all about edgeworth but its crucial that this situation is also extremely weird for trucy because like. ok obviously trucy understands that her coming into phoenix's life coincides with it being Completely Uprooted and i think theres a nonzero amount of guilt paired with being the person who handed that forged evidence over to him in the first place. and thats part of why she leans in so hard on taking the reins of that relationship and setting the tone for it right at the beginning, its so clear that even as a 7 year old child she's trying to perform and overcompensating for the awkwardness and tension of the situation.
so then okay her dad has this friend right and it's immediately clear to her that whatever the correct word for that interpersonal dynamic is friend is a bit of an understatement. and not only that this guy is kind of the walking talking embodiment of the life phoenix left behind to raise her. and 'awkwarness and tension' are this guy's middle name. and you're telling me you think the way this situation should play out is Domestic Bliss??? come on. come on.
I think personally that Edgeworth at that point in the story won't go all "unnecessary feelings" on a child and will attempt to project normalcy at her while in his head he's like "if I fuck this up she could end up like me" (fate worse than death for Miles Edgeworth) but yeah Trucy picks up on that, but as stated in the post, she's just going to perform right back at him - so the dynamic is technically domestic bliss except the outside perspective looks like this child forcing a man to play as her father (the fear in his eyes indicates that she's going to kill him???) because she's a much better actress than him, while on the inside Trucy and Miles have running Light/L monologues overanalyzing every most mundane situation
