holy shit its for real
A thing about parenting is that there are a lot of behaviors that you want to encourage your future adult to have that are SO HARD TO HANDLE in children.
He HAS whatever body autonomy I can grant but I really need to marshal some arguments about not letting other children cut his hair while he’s IN class.
OK ok OK ok ONE like we can do whatever we want with our bodies as long as it’s safe but there’s a time and place like for example we only do flips on grass, in houses, or on gym mats. Being naked is also a behavior for specific circumstances like inside a house or swimming in the woods! Hair cutting is like flips or taking off all your clothes!
Two it creates a mess and is really itchy, so we have to plan to do it somewhere where we can clean it up easily and take a bath afterwards and Not! In! Your! Kindergarten! Art! Class!
Three other kids might see how much fun you’re having getting your hair cut and also cut their hair and then be sad about how their hair looks. I know YOU don’t mind (and apparently Malachi is some kind of genius kindergartner barber??) but they might mind how they look, you have to set an example.
Four the teachers get to set the rules for the classroom and if you break those rules then you don’t fill out your sticker chart. I’m pretty sure hair cutting — even consensual hair cutting — breaks a rule. You can check. Ask a hypothetical question. Don’t tell them you’ve been doing this for weeks, they might get upset.
It is. So funny. Especially because it’s like, perfect layering and wispy bangs??
I can’t wait to see where Malachi the Prodigy Barber is going with this
having friends is important because otherwise you’ll stay convinced your parents are normal
trans bears are literally stronger than any US marine
How on earth would they be able to tell that a bear is trans. I’m not saying they can’t be but how would they communicate that.
:/
this is so fucking funny
update:
we the jury find the defendant not guilty your honor
In like 1998 my very femme lesbian friend went to Pride in London and was all excited at the “teddy bears picnic” happening in one of the city parks. She took along a picnic hamper and her cuddly teddy bear. Needless to say, the large hairy gay men all thought she was adorable and she had a great time
i like putting them in outfits (งツ)ว
#that little bat has no clue that it is embodying halloween right now #because it does not understand what holidays are #it does however #understand what pumpkins are #as it can eat those #it cannot eat halloween #bats

I still love this website so much because it feels like the last connection we have to an internet that doesn’t exist anymore like I can come on here and scroll through posts that are literally just funny or beautiful or interesting with no intention to sell me something or influence me we are all just here for a laugh. Nothing is just for laughs anymore EXCEPT tumblr dot com
What is everyone being for Halloween, if applicable. And if you know a baby what is that baby being
this is maybe not the post for this person

*coughs* Friendly doll person here.
So Mattel came out with different Barbie body types a couple years ago, right? There’s your normal body, but there’s also Curvy, Petite, and Tall now.
Around the same time, they came out with the Made to Move body, which has a ton more articulation than your normal Barbie.
Customizers love the Made to Move body, because hey, a lot more fun positions to put a doll in for photographing. But now Mattel has started making the Made to Move dolls with the additional body types from above. We’ve gotten a Curvy Made to Move doll so far, afaik.
This Queen Elizabeth doll, though? Is the first time there’s been a Petite Made to Move body released by Mattel. So customizers were buying it up not out of any care about Queen Elizabeth — but they were buying it to pop her head right off and use the new body for other dolls!
The thing i like the most about tumblr is learning tiny details about communities i would otherwise not even be aware of. thank you for this info
i've searched every combination of words imaginable and i still can't find that gif of the german star trek parody where gay spock is quickly drinking coffee and smoking freaking out PLEASE send it to me i need it urgently

OOH THATS A REALLY GOOD PICK!
i’ve warmed up significantly towards the concept of small talk ever since i learned that its sole purpose is to make friendly noises.
as long as you smile and nod, people are satisfied. it’s just to show that you are nice and there with good intentions. we’re small in a big world and have to rely on other people to be decent to us. so we do our little human dance to each other to say, “i’m not here to hurt you. here’s something we have in common, like the weather or sports or itchy sweaters, so we both know we’re on the same team. we both agree on a basic fact, like that it is rainy or that being itchy is uncomfortable, and this proves we can get along. i’m being light-hearted and non-threatening right now.”
small talk isn’t to get to know a person. it’s just a greeting to affirm you’re buddies in the universe.
i am motivated by wanting the other person to know i am friendly, so i have gotten pretty decent at small talk when i used to hate it.
When I was a kid and would go hiking with my dad and sibling on vacation, every time we would pass another group, my dad would do the smile and nod and “hey”. And then after we’d turned a corner, he would say more quietly, “I must make friendly social noises so they do not eat my young” and my sib and I would crack up laughing.
Gotta remember that we’re mammals under it all.
"I'm friendly, hello fellow person, we co-exist."
"hello, I'm also friendly, I'm a person living a life just like you are."
I like it, it calms me down, just going "good morning" with a smile to the janitors and teachers I bump into on my way to class early in the mornings. They say it back with a smile too, they know I'm chill and I know they're chill back
It forms real connections, maybe not deep ones, but they're real! I may not know the name of the librarian, I don't think she knows mine either, but I know that we can wave at each other, we talk about the school's resident cat, etc...
I feel safe around her, I know she's a safe person, she knows I'm a nice person too, all because of small talk and acknowledging each other's presence
