Types of Whumpee’s waking from nightmares:

Awakens with a scream, drenched in sweat and panting heavily as they get their bearings

Bolts upright, froze. Eyes wide and fixated dead ahead as of they’re seeing something no one else can see

Curls up tighter and whimpers pitifully, clutching a comfort item or person

Immediately gets up to go do something productive

Goes for the drugs, prescription or… otherwise

Goes back to sleep like it was any other dream — after all, they’ve never known anything else

Quickly wills themself back to sleep, hoping the nightmare continues because they know it’s infinitely better than their waking life
