Okay, so my mom has always been super open about health stuff and when I was just starting elementary school she got me a bunch of those American Girl books about your body and your feelings and they were really informative and truthful and I really liked them. One day I was talking to a friend about one of them and we started reading it and she was asking a ton if questions and seemed really excited and interested by it and I answered questions and explained stuff. We talked about the books during recess and eventually more girls joined in until we were a group of about 10-15 seven year-olds talking about puberty and sex and a lot of things that most adults don’t The thing about those books is that they look really innocent with cute drawings and there are chapters about brushing your teeth and stuff; but what most people don’t expect is that there’s a lot of health stuff about puberty and mental illness and drugs and a lot of really important stuff that everyone should know. The teachers didn’t care because the books looked super innocent and they thought were talking about proper brushing habits or something. We’d go sit down and read a chapter and I’d add some other stuff that my mom had told me and then we’d just talk and ask questions. It was kind of like group therapy but with sex ed. This was all okay until one of the boys saw a page with a ton of boobs on it (the page was demonstrating a breast exam) and he told the teacher. So they found and I got suspended and I wasn’t allowed to bring any more of those books into school. 

Closer to the end of the year, one of the second grade teachers was revealed to be a pedophile when one of his students said that he tried to touch her inappropriately and then three other girls came forward with the same story. After he was arrested, the girl told me that she said what he did because we had talked about what to do in that exact situation. Because of our group she knew that she probably wasn’t the only one and she knew that it was wrong for him to do that and that she wouldn’t get in trouble if she told someone and that she probably wouldn’t have said anything if she hadn’t read those books.

I started doing it again the next year. No one stopped me.

What is it? Re-writing or imagining the day as you wished it had been. Every incident and conversation.

Where did it come from? Neville Goddard, a mystic teacher who taught in Los Angeles and New York in the 1950s, was the first to understand and apply the technique of revision.

What are the benefits? •It is similar to mindfulness meditation because it helps remove the residue of stress that builds up daily. •It helps you press Pause on the negative flow if you are in one. •It enhances your mental faculties of imagination and willpower as you imagine what you’d like •It helps you believe you are more in control of your life than you know.

Examples: •A woman that saw a hat she wanted but couldn’t afford, imagined she had it and was later gifted the exact same hat. •A boss that was hard to work with for 11 years, became more appreciative of his employer overnight, praising her design skills. All the designer did that morning was imagine on her walk to work that her boss was with her the whole commute, praising her. •A young person imagined a tax refund letter and a revised bill, with an apology for the over-charge, came within a week.

That they spent their days and weeks not crammed in the bottom of slave ships, but doing canon balls off the sides and playing dice with their captors?

That they weren’t dying in the abhorrent conditions on the boats, but were eating three meals a day and getting desserts on the side too?

That they weren’t rioting against their white captors in multitudes on the ships, but were hanging out and drinking beers with them?

That when they eventually arrived the ones that survived weren’t sold among white plantation owners like cattle, but shook hands with them like buddies and went about their lives?

Because that’s what your statement implies. That black people were solely responsible for their own enslavement and white people were uninvolved until it came time to “be the hero” and free black people from slavery.

But even if a select few black people kidnapped others and sold them into slavery, guess what?

It was white people buying them. White people taking them over on boats. White people whipping them, forcing them to work in extreme conditions, raping them, killing them, treating them like less than second class citizens.

And when slavery was eventually abolished who was it still treating black people like second class citizens? 

White people.

So get your head out of your ass. Your racism isn’t even subtle.

Also the majority of slaves in America were “home grown” so to speak meaning that most of the slaves never came from Africa and were born in America. So the “African sold Africans” only accounts for a small population. Also, chattel slavery was nothing like any slave system in Africa. Most of people sent were prisoners of war and the buying and selling of POW wasn’t uncommon. Many had no idea what kind of conditions and system they were getting into.

I ask my history professor who does work on this topic about this concept of Africans selling Africans and she said that there are a few prominent people who sold their own into slavery and knew what was going on and directly benefitted from it to this day(the family is still m very rich in South America) but the vast majority didn’t know.

So what are y'all going to do about the millions of slaves born and raised in America?? Because slave owners talked about how it was more cost effective to “breed” slaves then to buy them from Africa and importation of slaves was made illegal in 1807. So, with all this information y'all still talk about Africans?
