one of my fave ofmd fandom things is how many posts there are (usually dated March 2022 but sometimes much later, even just a few days ago) that are just fanart of ed and stede with captions like "THOSE PIRATES SURE CAN GAY" bc even when people go in knowing it's 'the gay pirate show' it can still knock them ass over teakettle with how much they're rooting for those guys in the end. and part of that is because people assume tumblr as a whole over-exaggerated how gay it is (which tumblr often does) but another part of it is the thing season one does where you think it's all going to be subtext and you're like 'ah yeah ok I see why people went crazy about this one' and then the show whips off the workplace comedy mask and makes all the subtext text and barrels forward into romance territory. and that is still one of the most delightful things I've ever seen a show do, and it's really hard to explain how delightful it is until you SEE it. those pirates sure can gay indeed!!

Finished this today. It's my favorite thing I've ever written. Based on that Graham Norton interview where Colman Domingo tells the story of how he met his husband and featuring the poetry of Ocean Vuong. Here's the summary:

Edward Teach is a world-renowned poet who's begrudgingly set out on a trip to his local bodega in the rain. His day is turned around in an instant after a chance encounter with a beautiful stranger that he feels intensely drawn to.

Ed's next few days become consumed with finding his stranger, and with the help of a meddlesome friend, he'll track down his mystery man to see if the Love at First Sight he's written so many times exists in the real world.
