something that irks me in ATLA is that in season 2, Iroh implies they call him the Dagon of the West because of his fire-breathing abilities, but in season 3, Zuko states that Iroh's title of Dragon comes from him, allegedly, killing a dragon
so either it's a small consistency issue, or Iroh decided to take his new title and go with it
Idea: Every time Iroh calls himself the Dragon of the West, it’s for a different reason.
“Do you know why they call me the Dragon of the West?”
He’s the one that started developing propulsion firebending so he could fly.
He led a famous battle from the direction of the setting sun.
He had scaled amour and a fierce dragon helmet. It’s all too small for him to wear now. :(
this is going to be a controversial one but I think the optimal number of cats for facilitating making the bed is not, in fact, "every cat in the house" but perhaps even ... zero
dangerous misinformation
I am amused by all the bros being so upset at a trans actor being in the Odyssey because Greek Mythology had a lot of gender bending.
Imagine if they ever learned the story of Hermaphroditus. Their heads would explode.
Every day I am upset that the cats’ favourite litter box is the one that’s not self-cleaning.

“So... We got the exploding diarrhea. Here's my advice for anyone who doesn't have it yet:
It's going to take a minute for the government to pin down where this is coming from, and then issue a recall, because the FDA has been gutted. But, I can tell you, without a shadow of a doubt : this is coming from Taylor Farms produce, and you will see them recalled.
You'll want to avoid all Taylor Farms produce in the grocery store. They supply McDonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut, about any fast food place you can think of.
Raspberries, watermelons, cilantro, and the veggies you're hearing about are not causing this many people to get sick. It's the shredded lettuce, specifically, that's the problem. But, you'll want to stay away from every type of produce this company puts out, because one strand of shredded lettuce is all it takes to contaminate bushels.
Taylor Farms is the source. Taco Bell proactively pulled their produce from their restaurants. You're going to see other fast food places doing this, and probably will see that before the government names a source. The FDA knows this, but they can't come out and tell us all until there's proof, which takes resources and research, which takes manpower, but the FDA has been cut by about 20-30%
During the Biden term, onions at McDonald's had ecoli. We knew this because DNA testing was done quickly and they were able to narrow it down to one place that caused the outbreak. And, it was traced back to Taylor Farms. This isn't going to be solved as quickly though.
When you get this, make a virtual appointment to your PCP - a "same day sick" appointment. Tell them someone in your family just tested for this and was positive and was prescribed Bactrim. If you go in person, they're probably going to make you poop in a cup and wait until results come back to prescribe.
You'll know when you get this. Trust me on all of this.
You'll want to stay hydrated because this parasite damages the lining of the small intestine. Your small intestine, in turn, secretes more water into the gut, and less nutrients and liquid are able to remain in the body. So no matter how much you shit, you're going to want to drink. A day of this leads to dehydration if you don't increase your fluid intake, and a few days will land you in the hospital.
If you have headaches, weakness, muscle cramps, dizziness, or an increase heart rate - hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Go to the ER for fluids if you can't drink enough.
Thank you for coming to my Ted talk. Brought to you by America's 250 birthday celebrations, workforce reduction in the FDA and CDC, and viewers like you.
Please feel free to share this.
And, MAGA - don't blow up the comment section. I argued with y'all on COVID bc I was afraid y'all would die, but I really don't care if you get explosive diarrhea.
And no, ivermectin will not help this at all.”
Well, OP was very much correct!
Use our product locater to find a store selling your favorite Taylor Farms products.
you can use their product locator to find their stuff
also, they do store brand bagged salads and the salads for trader joes, target, walmart, aldi, and kroger.
costco sells them, but only as taylor farms (not as the house brand or a private label)
they also do starbucks salads.
anyways, just not a time for dubious pre-packaged salads.
Literally my dad warned me about this yesterday morning(and it seems to mostly effect "processed lettuce".), I had to change my lunch for volunteer program because of it.
I could use this list for reference, thanks @ocean-again

ANYWAY, one of the other, more practical reasons it would have sucked for Stratt to send Grace off is that, yes, he was the best and most qualified person to go on the Hail Mary, but he was also the best and most qualified person to continue Atrophage research on Earth and then eventually work on whatever data was received from the Hail Mary.
Which makes me think Stratt had her scientists train on Grace’s notes intensely and tries to see if any of them can closely replicate Grace’s methods and how he processes information. (And then secretly judges them for not being Grace.)
I feel sorry for young writers that use AI to help them write because they miss out on the unhinged joy of bouncing ideas off another young writer and coming up with something absolutely batshit together.

Emergency cleaning: Unfuck your whole house in the shortest time possible
So, your landlord/parents/home inspector/favorite movie star is dropping by, and your place is a disaster. You don’t have much time to clean it up. You’re in emergency mode. Let’s get started.
Don’t panic. Panic leads to fear, fear leads to procrastination, procrastination leads to the dark side. You can do this, but you have to stay calm.
Unlike maintenance cleaning, we’re not looking to completely unfuck one space at a time. Instead, we want to decrease the overall mess in stages, spread evenly across the whole area that we’re concerned about. If you think your home is at Level 10 filth, we want to bring the whole thing down to a Level 9, and then down from there. One really clean spot in an otherwise messy home is not going to be helpful here.
Get prepared. You’ll want to shut the computer down (or turn the modem off if you need your computer to play music). Trust me. Get your music going. Gather up trash bags, your vacuum and mop, some rags or paper towel, sponges, and other cleaning supplies. Use what you have on hand. Don’t get distracted running to the store and spending an hour browsing cleaning supplies. A multi-purpose cleaning concentrate or a jug of vinegar will be just fine.
Breaks are very important. Depending on your time constraints, work in 20/10s (20 minutes working, 10-minute break) or 45/15s. But take breaks because otherwise you’re marathoning, and marathon cleaning is no one’s friend. Keep hydrated, don’t forget to eat, and check in with yourself frequently to make sure you’re physically doing OK.
Make your bed. This will be your home base if you get overwhelmed or need somewhere clear to take a break.
Start with the garbage. Going from room to room, throw out anything that is obvious trash. Once you fill a bag, take it out. Repeat as many times as necessary.
Move on to dishes. Gather the dishes from all over your house and bring them to the kitchen. If you can, start them soaking in a sink of hot, soapy water or start loading the dishwasher. After the dishes are all in one place, spend one 20/10 getting started getting them under control.
Now it’s time for your flat surfaces. Countertops, tables, dresser tops, etc. Clear them off and wipe them down. Don’t get distracted in too much sorting and organizing. We’re in crisis mode here. There will be time to get in-depth once this is all done. The same applies to cabinets and closets. Unless you have reason to believe people will be opening closed doors, leave these alone for now.
Attack the floordrobe and shoe pile. Get your clothes either put away or in the hamper. Start a load of laundry if you need to, but keep in mind that laundry and dishes have three steps: wash, dry, and put it away, goddammit!
Get random stuff up off the floors. If something is trash-worthy, throw it away now rather than just move it around a bunch of times. Otherwise, put stuff where it belongs.
Take another 20/10 or 45/15 to catch up on more dishes, if needed.
Head into the bathroom. Pour some cleaner in the toilet bowl, fill the sink with hot water and cleaner, and either spray the tub and shower with cleaner, or fill the tub up with some hot water and add cleaner and let it soak. Put everything away that’s out and shouldn’t be, clean the mirror, counters, and toilet seat. Sweep or dry mop the floor. Wipe down the sink and tub/shower, and give the toilet bowl a scrub. Mop the floor.
Sweep and mop the kitchen floor.
Vacuum everything you can, and sweep everything you can’t.
Walk outside of your house (don’t lock yourself out, please). Walk back in and see what catches your eye first. Go and deal with that.
If you’re being inspected or your landlord is coming in for repairs, spend time on whatever area they’ll be focusing on.
Give the whole place one more once-over and pay attention to anything you’ve missed so far.
It’s an old trick, but if your place is a little funky-smelling, put a pan of water on the stove on low heat and add some citrus or cinnamon or vanilla. Don’t leave it unattended or forget about it.
Take a shower, put on something clean, and eat something.
You can do this. It’s overwhelming, yes, but it is not impossible. You just need to do it. You have a list. You have directions. You have a whole bunch of Internet strangers who have been there before and who are cheering you on. You can do this, but you need to get started.
Why are you still here? GO. START. NOW.
the number of times in my past that I desperately wanted/needed someone to sit me down and tell me this stuff. I will never get back the hours and hours lost to headless-chicken mode, but it’s nice to know that in the last year I’ve learned so many coping mechanisms :D
So I’m pretty sure Stratt has some kind of backup plan in place should any world leaders or (worse) venture capitalists try to use Astrophage in destructive ways.
Maybe it’s scientists sworn to destroy all research and then themselves; maybe it’s a few trusted individuals who will do whatever needs to be done; maybe it’s the biggest lode of blackmail material ever, but she will save this planet, she didn’t send her favourite scientist off to space for nothing.
The thing with disability is that your brain and the people around you will tell you that it's not okay to do things that will make your life easier. But it is in fact okay, good even, to do things that will make your life easier
Getting a pedal bin for my kitchen because trying to use a regular one with one hand was awful was what inspired this post, and you have no idea how much better this one small thing has made my life since. Anyway do that thing to make your life easier that you've been thinking about, it's completely worth it and you deserve it
why does it take SO much energy to keep your house only sort of clean
