#‘it’s so unnecessary’ . okay . god yea this one drives me CRAZY. people will yap all day long about how it's "unnecessary" to make a character a survivor like do you think it was necessary for any of us to be abused or raped irl? was it narratively essential? did it teach the audience an important lesson? why do we, who have to justify our experiences and existences and reactions all the time in real life, also have to justify why we should exist in fiction? people act so repulsed by the thought of us. i've really fully and truly had enough of that. there is nothing so uniquely disgusting or repulsive or unspeakable about our victimhood or our survival that justifies this obsession with keeping the reality of our existence hidden

"oh but talking about it can be triggering for victims :(((" you know what else is triggering? living in a world that insists that we cannot be open and honest about what happened to us. maybe if we had, oh, i don't know, prominent examples in our cultural stories of people who are victims and are competent and strong it might be easier (for everyone, not just victims) to have the discussions we actually need to have about our trauma.

They talked about things that mattered, and they never punched down, and they were allies off the stage too.

Reblogging this again to add some context for anyone who may not know. In the 80's, being outed as gay could get you blacklisted in Hollywood. It ruined people's careers.

Bea Arthur and Betty White both suffered damage to their careers for standing up against racism and homophobia. Back in the 50s Betty White hosted a variety show that was canceled because she featured a black dancer and doubled down when they told her to stop.

on sunday a pipe burst in the ceiling above my desk (getting sewage water & debris everywhere) and all of my electronics got destroyed, including my computer & tablet. at least $2000 worth of stuff (including my external hard drives with my all my art from the past decade)

thankfully at least my current computer’s hard drive survived. but everything else got wrecked. i’m going to consult an attorney but i don’t know what’s going to happen with my landlords. i do comms fulltime as my only income & i can’t work until i get my computer & tablet replaced

the record holder for largest domestic pig was Big Bill from Jackson, Tennessee at 2,552 pounds in 1933!

he was also five feet tall at the shoulder. this thing was the size of a small cow.

unfortunately, he was TOO big and had to be put down after he broke a leg because he couldn't support his own weight. modern domestic breeds have largely moved away from this maximum weight model and are more geared towards leaner pigs that don't risk injury from their own size.

^^^ i spent all night and yesterday compiling information about a "phantom report bug", where people are getting emails from tumblr support about TOS reports they did not file. pjackk was banned off one of these phantom reports, i told tumblr support about it, and now he's unbanned. i think @garaks-padded-bra was also banned erroneously off a phantom report, so hopefully that will get reversed soon as well

PLEASE CHECK YOUR EMAIL FOR PHANTOM REPORT EMAILS. if you spot any, even if theyre old, tell me about them so i can add them to the list (linked above), and report them to tumblr support. POLITELY. tumblr support wants to fix this.

now now i know we hate pjackk but if were getting serious here it WAS a character sideblog run by a transfem & i genuinely have to assume thats why pjackk was banned in the first place. i hope we all know this is another case of staff nuking a popular transfem blogger & not just like "lol pjackk got killed because he sucks"
