Y’all…. I have an update…. I don’t even want to call it a “Fanfiction authors curse because part of this was designed in a system to deliberately hurt people” but yeah.
Firstly, my country is falling into who-the-fuck- knows what? A dictatorship?
Secondly, I’m non-binary/intersex. I have a medical thing that gives me too much testosterone in my body. This is… something I’ve been coming to terms with in regards to my gender/my sexuality/ my chance to even have biological children. But now, everything, did a fucking 180. I can’t keep up with trans rights (being lost/ fought for) or womans rights because I’ve been fighting to keep my fucking job and ounce of sanity I have left.
Thirdly, I’ve had a chain of bad events happen this week.My boyfriend lost his doggo, which kinda also felt like my doggo to. She was such a sweet girl, but old so despite it being sudden, we knew it was soon.
My mom had an accident Thursday which may have been a chain of strokes. She is in an induced coma right now. Prognosis is positive, but also there is talk of needing to moving her to a rehabilitation home and that she might not have the same ability’s she had before.
Lastly, since I took family and medical leave yesterday, I don’t even know if I have a fucking job come Tuesday. Yesterday, they fired a bunch of people illegally. I work for the government at a science focused agency, absolutely adore my job in public safety. Specifically, we monitor flood predictions, floods during flooding, and flood damage after. We are out in the floods measuring things to get information to keep people safe. It’s important. I can’t stress that enough. It’s important to keep people SAFE.
I’m sorry this was a long message. I woke up because I couldn’t sleep. I just had to vent, and I’m sorry it was on here. To my friends/fans/lurkers, I’ve not abandoned writing, it’s just… had to do so right now. But, I’ll try.
If anyone wants to talk, or needs to talk, about anything at all. I’m here. My DM’s are open. ❤️

I wanted to do something special on the day Alex time travled but I’m so behind with writing that the next chapter might just come out on that day instead 😭. Maybe next year 👀

50 and very happily reading and scribbling.
Its so wild to me that so many young people nowadays think fanfic is something that only kids and teens do.
Back when I first got into online fanfic communities as a young teen, the majority of the fanfic communities were as they are now - adults. Minors were the minority (no pun intended). Minors who admitted to being minors were even more of a minority, because we knew damn well that if we wanted our smut - or wanted others to read our smut - then we had to make the adults think that we were One Of Them.
And having those cross-generational friendships was fantastic! I didn’t have much opportunity in my real life to have social interaction with adults who weren’t either family or friends of family, and being able to interact online with adults as ‘peers’ was really good for me. It gave me a much more varied view of things, and also gave me a fantastic community of people with more life experience than me whom I could turn to for advice.
And I know that, just like me, all those people are still reading and writing fic 25+ years later. And those who have sadly passed on were reading and writing fic right up until their deaths.
It’s not unusual to be reading/writing fanfic in your twenties - or in your thirties, forties, fifties, sixties, seventies, eighties, etc.
