Also loved that they finally confirmed the Pain Drain is equivalent to a power suck.

I’ve been saying this since S3, Scott gets his extra wolfy powers from stealing the life force of others, just like nogi did. He feeds on the pain.

That was just great!

It was only after S2 and Deaton teaching Scott the Pain Drain that we got True Alpha Scott in 3a which is literally only a couple of months later from that moment.

I think Davis is going there with the dark arc and shady af Deaton being a bad guy theory we’ve been saying for ages is thematically in the cards for the show. This is laying the ground work for that.

Scott had black whites once, hadn’t he? Similar to the Alpha pack? That’s the “pain” he absorbs, me thinks. pain-life-spark. He hasn’t killed so far.

I don’t think Deaton is the big bad. I think he is a dedicated druid with a mistake in the past. Morrel was ready to kill Stiles. They shouldn’t get attached. Their job is to protect the balance, not the individual spn beings. Deaton is preparing Scott for things to come in hope his protege would overcome the “call of the dark side”. If not? Well, there are ways to kill him or teach others how to do it.

Yes he did. Back in Season 4 ‘Monstrous’ when he was going after a mercenary. He looked awfully similar to Alpha Peter. I did a post on it several weeks back.

When I talk about Deaton being the big bad of the series I mean in that his focus is on balance, a regression to the mean, no matter what it takes. He’s shady as fuck so I think it is fair to compare him to the Emperor and Scott to Anakin.

We did get hints of that, again, with the Dread Doctors speaking about how true evil is the corruption of the good. That’s what happened to Anakin in Star Wars by the Emperor and what we are seeing happen with Scott.

We must never forget that no matter how much Deaton has helped the Scooby Pack that Stiles has NEVER EVER trusted him. He has point blank told him that repeatedly and then we had this reunion moment in ‘The Sword and The Spirit’ with The Oh Hellos song Dear Wormwood. I keep coming back to how ‘I will not be part of your designs’ happens when Scott and Deaton hug each other and I think that is very important. Maybe not for S5 but S6 or even the series as a whole.

Either way, I still see a Scott going rogue arc coming and Deaton being the cause of it.

Just wanted to say your blog is really impressive - your theories etc. are so well thought out and detailed that I sincerely doubt that anyone in the teen wolf writer's room possesses such logic and imagination. I really admire what you're doing (this probably sounds really pretentious) and the way you incorporate every possibilty and detail into your theories!!

Oh thank you so much! It means a lot to me to know that people actually read and enjoy the meta. I mainly write it because one of these days I’m going to totally predict how something will end and I won’t have any proof that I thought of it. XD But I also write it because it’s fun to think of the possibilities and to pick up on the clues and patterns left behind in the show. Because from one of my metas, it’s clear that the writers do a shit ton of foreshadowing. So everything we meta writers write isn’t complete nonsense.

So is it possible that Alisson didn't die, and they used her as the incubation for the beast?

Again, like I said to previous anon, I don’t think it’s Allison.

I’m liking the theory that it’s Donovan, and the even crazier theory that it’s Isaac. It seems more likely the writers would bring them back to life over Allison. Having Allison be the beast just to kill her again would not settle well with the audience.

Teen Wolf Theory

Donovan is the Beast of Gévaudan.

Here’s why:

He was given a detailed backstory with strong ties to the Stilinskis

He was too unusually well developed to be a throwaway character

The Morse Code on the teaser translates to “someone you know”

Donovan has already been turned into a Chimera, so we know he’s not too old.

We’ve only seen the Doctors turn people who are still human.

The Dread Doctors tend to kill their failed experiments personally

Donovan was killed by Stiles, not the Doctors or Theo

Theo showed that dead Chimeras can be revived by the Doctors

The pack thinks they’ve accounted for all the genetic chimaeras, but they wouldn’t think to consider someone they think is already/still dead

Donovan’s violent, sadistic personality matches that of the Beast

In 5x17 it was said that if the Beast remembers the man it was, it would revert back into the man, rather than the teenager, and I doubt they would foreshadow that if it didn’t end up happening

The only other currently relevant possibility is that it’s Mason

The writers are setting up Mason as the obvious choice, so having it not be him would be a dramatic twist.

If the Beast either turns back into the man or is killed in 5x20, we lose Mason and waste all his future potential

Donovan being replaced by the man or being killed as the Beast is a much less risky move

He’s totally the Beast.

WHO IS THE BEAST? SOMEONE YOU KNOW

Apparently at the end of the promo there is morse code going on, and it says in question to “WHO IS THE BEAST”, that it’s “SOMEONE YOU KNOW.” There’s also a meta saying that the morse code says “VOID STILES”, which either way, proves my theory, because…

Guess who I think it is?

I know there’s a bajillion theories about Stiles being Something, but there’s way too many freaky hints pointing towards Stiles being the beast. I apologize this is a really crude and sloppy theory, but midterms man. I also mention ideas that other people originated, and I didn’t have time to find them and properly link them (shoot me a message if this applies to you and I’ll give ya credit).

Okay but you know that I love uneven Plot arcs. IE Plot arcs that start in the middle of a season and don’t end at the season finale, or that skip around or run in the background simultaneous to current events. So the Dread Doctors being behind the electrical flashes at odd moments (like Deucalion yelling “DEMON WOLLLF” during a sunny day) explains those away great.

The portions to this theory are: 

a. Kate was actually an engineered Chimera who was captured by the Calaveras. (Belasko proves Chimera’s don’t HAVE to be teenagers.) The Dread Doctors made the Berserkrs and led her to the vault by dropping off the tape Brunski had made. Kate used Derek to get her into the vault so she could control her own shifts.

b. Peter is merely a coincidental opportunist wild card.

c. Brunski used the vault to get the $$ from Peter, per Meredith.

d. Dread Doctors “speak” with Meredith because she hears their frequency. IE on the dead telephone. (”One of them is right behind me” either means Fly Soldier Oliver or Stiles.) She gives them the idea for the Deadpool to trigger the Wild Hunt.

e. Julia Baccari, also a former resident of Eichen House (theory), also contributes by sacrificing to the Nemeton.

f. The Wild Hunt spawns the Hellhound. It’s possible that Jordan would always have been the Hellhound, but it may never have manifested if the circumstances were not right. The Hellhound is connected to the Banshee, but SPECIFICALLY Lydia? (Although I think Jordan is the one who finds Meredith when she’s missing, as well?)

g. Scott the True Alpha is considered an “obstacle” by the Dread Doctors and they send Belasko to take his power and kill him. Was the True Alpha itself the obstacle, or was Scott protecting his Pack the obstacle?

h. Kira = Is she a B plot to all of this or an unfactored variable if she conquers her spirit, or is the out of control Kitsune that the Doctors kicked into gear a cog in their machine?

i. Malia = Was the Desert Wolf an engineered product of the Dread Doctors? When her baby inherited some of her power at birth, did it also take away what the Dread Doctors would have wanted her for? Malia fought the Berserkrs and “won”, she fought against the Dread Doctors and they only restrained her. (And made her watch Tracy die.)

j. Stiles = Scott, Allison and Stiles have the Permanent Darkness around their hearts. If Scott is “protected” by being a True Alpha, and Allison is dead (or is she still?), is Stiles in line for being a good candidate for Dread Doctor experiments? If Stiles flipped out at accidentally killing Donovan, and remembering how it felt to kill everyone as the Nogitsune, is he set to really flip at becoming the unknowing Big Bad yet again? Also, the car crash on his way to the Nemeton and the weird “Stiles - get up” segments coupled with his old “Wake up” dreams.

it’s not Belasko, it’s Blaschko - who discovered that genetic chimeras skin is patterned under UV light

and we’ve had so much use of UV to reveal the hidden, and there right in ep 501, a random minor character, is a great big hint to what’s coming

How’s he going to get through the mountain ash?

Fun fact about Hell Hounds.  One of the origin points for their mythos is Garmr, the blood marked Hound of Hel (norse mythos), who was the Hound Hel tasked with guarding the gates to her realm… meaning that his ability to ‘open a gate’/burn through the ash barrier fits with said mythos

his taking of the Poisoned/diseased/failed dead to the Nemeton (Hel being the realm of those who die of old age/disease) also works, especially as the Nemeton might work as a representation of Yggdrasil, the world tree… and the literal carpet of bodies he sees in his visions might work as a representation of Náströnd, or the shore of corpses of Hel’s realm

Hmmm, also wolfsbane likely will not impact him, but mistletoe might

…Also given that Garmr is sometimes the dreadful beast who’s howl heralds the coming of Ragnarok AND who’s howl releases Fenrir of his chains in Völuspá… That ties in nicely with the HEL Hound battling the ‘Beast’, as does the Poetic Eda naming him as the ‘best of all hounds’

Hel also describes Lydia

the daughter of Angrbodr and Loki, and Helheim, the room of the modern word Hel means Hel’s kingdom, go to Hel literally means die

Helheim was the realm of the not glorious dead, it was an endless feast that just wasn’t fabulous and without the gods, it’s like an endless thanksgiving with burned food and your relatives not talking to each other

now the concept of Lydia as Hel is about her association with death, but also Peter was interested in three teens, Scott the dread wolf, Fenrisulfr, Jorgmandr the world snake - Jackson, and Lydia who takes the role of Hel, and Peter as Loki is as obvious as day from night

now considering the two mythologies at play are Norse and Gaelic, the Gaelic afterworld is Annwn

but Hel is a psychopomp, which is a word we associated with Parrish happily, but he serves her, he is her dog literally really, so the idea of Garmr taking the bodies to build a kingdom for her makes sense

if the nemeton represents yggdrasil it makes sense that access to the upper realms is blocked, leaving only access to the middle and lower realms, so no ice giants but dark elves the dissatisifed dead

now we get into other interesting things, the tree of life is a rowan (aka mountain ash) but Yggdrasil is an ash tree, the oak is associated with thor

TW 5x15: The paw and the footprint - can the manifestation change shape as well?

There’s a slight chance this won’t make any sense (I have a fever) or add anything new to a discussion that I’m sure is ongoing but that I haven’t seen much off or taken part of due to being curled up in a fetal position for the last four days. Anyway, during one of my feverish half dreams (or nightmares, whatever) I had a thought about the beast, the footprints and beast alpha peter from season 1.

If this makes no sense at all, we can all blame the fever and move on. Good plan. And if it’s been addressed already, just skip it and ignore. Even better plan *thumbs up*.  

I know these footprints has people a bit confounded, me included. What’s most weird is perhaps that they’re bloody, both as paws and as shoes, which does sort of indicate that the paws actually turned into shoes. There is no blood around, so who knows where it got this, perhaps it’s from the beast itself maybe? It’s all very odd, so is it a trick to confuse them or is it just TV magic - a nifty effect to ensure that both Scott and the audience  notice it? Maybe it’s that simple.

But if we assume that the paws are suddenly replaced by shoes, then this would either indicate that a) someone picked up the beast like it a was a cute lill Pomeranian and strolled out which seems unlikely, or b) the manifestation can change shape as well, between Elwood and the shape of its human “host”. 

let’s roll with it for a moment. I want to make a comparison to Peter… 

We now that Peter was comatose at the hospital in season 1. Derek visited more than once and all we saw him do in his human form was stare morosely out into thin air and in one memorable moment, twitch a finger

We know both from Peter himself and from what Lydia extracted from Meredith that Peter’s mind was alert, even if his body was paralyzed. And he was very angry. VERY ANGRY. The beast alpha went on a revenge spree, killing anyone connected to the Hale fire. So what if beast alpha peter in reality was nothing but a manifestation as well? A manifestation of Peter’s anger and lust for revenge. Perhaps helped along by experiments at Eichen, nurse Jennifer or dread doctors for all we know. I think it’s likely Peter has been at Eichen House before, the flashbacks he shows Scott at least suggest this

In these flashbacks we see that Peter is in fact not comatose. He’s sitting up and clearly shaking his head while being showered. And the showers does resemble what we’ve seen Lydia use this season. 

There is also blood dripping down a drain.

Which we’ve also seen after trepanation, for example done on Lorraine Martin. Also in the shower/bathroom

So did someone experiment on Peter, amplifying his abilities? And did this result in his distorted wolf features as well as his comatose condition? Lydia does seem oddly obedient and is answering all of Valack’s questions dutifully after he’s drilled into her. We’ve theorized for ages that Peter was under someone’s control back in season 1. Is this how they did it?

(edit: funnily as I was about to post this, this exact thing was discussed with athenadark and auntpol just coming from another angle, see this post.) 

It does make sense.

But what if we take it a step further. what if whatever was done to Peter resulted in his anger manifesting as a solid entity - the beast alpha that roamed the city and did all sorts of weird stuff - while the comatose Peter was still in his bed?

The gif above is very interesting. It reminds me of numerous movies and series where a character steps out of their own skin. We see just one body - but this was Peter showing Scott his memories of events - he might not have been  aware of the manifestation himself, and so we only see what Peter thinks happened. In reality perhaps Peter’s real body stayed behind and his shadow body woke up. And was this “clone” (god I do love clone theories) capable of taking on a physical form - both as a man and a beast?

We see a flashback of Peter meeting Laura and he’s in human form. But his fangs come out, in other words it’s the start of his shift. 

And then we have beast alpha Peter killing the video store clerk and bursting through the window. This was captured on a surveillance camera and the sheriff got a hold of it. And the beast changed into what looks like a man, walking away on two legs. 

Interestingly, just as the beast jumped through the window, Lydia screamed. For the first time. That was possibly even what alerted Peter to her bansheeness. Did it even force the change? And if so, can her scream be a more powerful weapon than we’d thought? Can Lydia scream at Elwood, force a change and expose whose manifestation it is? That would be seriously cool :) 

Something clearly changed to make comatose Peter not comatose anymore, and that was in episode 1x09. 

In the very same episode we have not just one, but two very clear mirror verse shifts. One is in Stiles’ room (see this link for details), and the second at the hospital in Peter’s room. Could this be connected somehow? 

When Stiles arrive the bed is pristine, like no one has been there for ages. the bed is different, the room looks more old-fashioned 

Then Derek connects the dots, and next the room is back to looking like this

And then peter heals his burns while looking in a mirror, the mirror spins, as if two sides of him - the shadow side = manifestation and his real self is merged into one. His shadow self could shift, aka he was in control of his wolfy powers. When they merged, human Peter also heals his burns.

We can perhaps draw a parallel to the other chimeras who didn’t realize what was happening to them in the beginning either. Tracy thought it was night terrors, when it was in fact happening. Was it like that for Peter as well? He didn’t realize at first what was happening, but when he did and he accepted it, he became one with his shadow self? Is the damnatio memoriae not only to make it remember what kind of beast it was and the history of it, but also to make the beast remember and understand who it is during the day? 

I’m being claimed by the fever again, so I’m going to roll over into a fetal position now . toodles.

I may not have a clue exactly as to who the original Beast was nor the person who is the chimera that becomes The Beast. But I have a theory as to what The Beast is.

I really have no idea who The Beast is other than the chimera underneath it is probably a teenager. And someone who was a human chimera before it became a supernatural chimera.

Also as of episode 5.13 Stiles is officially off my suspect list. Tho Mason & Sydney are still plausible but I’m mostly betting it’s a new character who is the chimera.

Now on to the what kind of Chimera I think The Beast is.

First and foremost I’m pretty sure the this thing is part werewolf. But what do I suggest the Other Part is?

You all remember the Sluagh from 5.05

Feature wise it has similar tho not exact eyes, nose, ears, teeth as you can compare in the images above. 

And tonights episode of 5.13 confused me about the whole Damnatio Memoriae being left by The Dread Doctors & Theo’s statements until I thought if this..

Here is what we are told a Sluagh can do by Valack - “ it can take on the appearance of the lost souls that have become inextricably bound to it”

What I hypothesize is that The Dread Doctors are in fact using the sluagh to take on the form of the lost soul of The Beast, whoever the original person was or at least their Beast form. This would explain why Theo seems to think whomever the chimera was doesn’t matter. It would explain why Theo said “they needed a body cause they couldn't resurrect the beast out of thin air”

So I think The Dread Doctors are leaving the messages of Damnatio Memoriae for the Beast because they may believe that the spirit appearance of The Beast the possible sluagh chimera takes the form of is indeed the actual spirit of The original Beast possessing the chimera at night, so they want to bring whomever the former Beast was back to life or awareness of who they are or were or something along those lines

I know this may sound confusing

I may be very very wrong about this theory too. Who knows.

I’m making a wild guess that maybe The Beast could in fact be one of the original Argents (their may be a not so subtle spoiler on the instagram of one of the new argents if you do some exploring on it)

I think maybe the darkness shadow stuff coming off of The Beast looks similar to the stuff we have seen from other spirit creatures like the Oni and the Nogitsune

Also I’m pretty sure my original chimera theory is extremely wrong now.

so i guess theo caused scotts asthma?

The use of wolfsbane has always been somewhat a point of confusion on the show. 

When it’s used in a bullet, Derek is on the brink of death.

When it’s ingested via Lydia’s birthday punch in 2x09, everyone - humans included - act a little crazy and experience hallucinations.

When it’s blown into Derek’s face by Lydia in the same episode, he loses consciousness and all of his strength to where she is able to completely physically manipulate him.  

When the wolfsbane is found in coach’s whistle, it seemingly only effects the werewolves and they suffer from hallucinations (seemingly linked to fears and insecurities like in 2x09) and try killing themselves. 

When it’s used by the Calaveras in Mexico, Scott, Kira, and Malia fall down while choking and gasping, but they do not lose consciousness immediately. They are obviously overpowered and Scott clearly does lose consciousness, but it seems to be from getting electrocuted rather than the wolfsbane. 

Based on this, you’d expect wolfsbane in an inhaler would either have the same effect it did on Derek in 2x09 where he loses consciousness or the same effect in did in 3x06 where they all hallucinate and try to kill themselves. But, apparently, all it did was make Scott somewhat physically weaker and more susceptible to Liam attacking him in the finale. 

I don’t think Theo caused the asthma because if all he did was lace the inhaler, then all the he did was exacerbate and exploit the situation, not cause it. The asthma attacks seem psychosomatic, quite possibly caused by the dread doctors, and we’re only shown that Theo probably laced the inhaler he gave Scott in 5x09 - not every inhaler Scott’s used - the day before he set Scott up to be killed by Liam.

Still, would have been more consistent and interesting if the other effects were present.

Chimera Theory

Below is several connected theories of mine for Teen Wolf Season 5B

 This I my theory about the mural and what the Successful Chimera might be

First lets start with the creature on the left. Jeff Davis has already confirmed in several interviews that is a Hellhound.

The creature on the right I believe is the one The Dread Doctors called La Bete. Which from French translates to The Beast in English. I also think it is the Successful Chimera they have been trying to create.

I think the creature on the right is possibly part bird. Maybe even a Raven. It would explain all the ravens we have seen this season.

TW 5.11-5.12 synopsis

Episode 5.11 - The Last Chimera Scott and Stiles try to learn what is behind the mysterious infection that is killing the town sheriff in spite of their deep rift. Episode 5.12 - Damnatio Memoriae Even without the support of his pack, Scott considers what the Dread Doctors’ success means for Beacon Hills.

Really interesting how the Damnatio Memoriae is an episode title. That is from the mural of doom

Damnatio memoriae is the Latin phrase literally meaning “condemnation of memory” in the sense of a judgment that a person must not be remembered. It was a form of dishonor that could be passed by theRoman Senate upon traitors or others who brought discredit to theRoman State. The intent was to erase someone from history, a task somewhat easier in ancient times, when documentation was much sparser.

To erase someone from history. To purge someone from existence, to make it as if they were never there. This does sound vaguely familiar. We could argue that was much of what the deadpool was all about - at least in Meredith’s warped head. She wanted to get rid of all the supernaturals, herself included. It was a punishment for what she regarded as their crimes, for being monsters.

We could sort of argue that this is what the Argents and hunters also try to do with the Hales, and supernaturals at large.

The dread doctors sort of does the opposite  - they create supernaturals. Or they use supernaturals to make faux supernaturals. Even tries to recreate beast of legend, making something mostly forgotten real again. But the doctors themselves erase memories of their activities, making themselves purged from history. They’re just the means to achieve a goal, and they hide their tracks. 

Oh, and they better save the sheriff, just saying!!!

TW 5x11: Why the Mountain Ash?

Another one of my favorite topics - mountain ash. And specifically how I think Stiles knows how to break it telepathically - it comes down to belief. He believes he can and he does. I’ve written about this before - this post should cover most of my previous ramblings.

The short story is - Stiles broke it without touching it in season 2

And I think it was Stiles who broke the line, and not Tracy, in 5a. 

I go into detail in the other post, please see that so I don’t have to repeat it all (I do tend to ramble on and on).

Basically the line breaks the exact same way as it did when Stiles broke it in s2. Also, chimeras doesn’t break the line when they cross it - they simply step right over it. Theo has demonstrated this twice now.

(also, I do wonder hoq Liam managed to cross it in 5x10 to get to Scott in the library. Either Theo let him in or he can cross it too, giving us a clue that he’s maybe not entirely supernatural either. (I fell in a hole)). 

5x10 - not even a spec of ash moves when he steps over it.

So what was the point of the mountain ash line in 5x11? We have a whole sequence dedicated to just this point. Not a word is exchanged before we cut to another scene. 

First off, Scott is there. Scott knew Theo could cross it, so he wouldn’t bother to put it up. It won’t stop Theo or protect Stiles. So we can assume that Stiles have been told that Theo will not be stopped by mountain ash. 

So either Scott forgot to tell Stiles, or he told him but Stiles put it up anyway. Judging by his non-shocked reaction it doesn’t surprise him when Theo steps over it. We know that Deaton assumed after Tracy seemingly broke it, that chimeras can’t be stopped by mountain ash, but the difference between the scene with Tracy and the ones with Theo, is that the line doesn’t break when Theo steps over.

So my guess is Stiles wanted to see it himself, and perhaps specifically compare it to the incident with Tracy. He does deliberately glance at the line. They spend precious seconds on this. They zoom in on Theo’s shoes, not once, not twice - by three times. And we all know the thing about threes, right?

Theo stops by the line, glances down. Then the angle shifts to Stiles - his eyes are on it as well. 

Then The steps over, we switch to Stiles who glances down again to confirm what happens. Again not a spec of ash out of place. 

We know Jeff doesn’t include scenes unless it serves a purpose.

And now that I believe Stiles knows with more certainty that he can break the line, I’m sure he can do the opposite as well. In fact he has - back in 2x08 when he closed the gap of several meters with just a handful of ash. I think this will prove useful and important later.

I wanted to ask what do you think about Stiles pinning Noah to the wall. Noah was a chimera and he could have easily push him away... Do you think that it has something in common with Stiles' somethingness or it was just because Noah was generally scared and stressed out?

Hey, and sorry for the late reply. I have too many things going on at the moment, and hardly any time for the fun things I want to be doing, like teen wolf and tumblr. 

I’ve been saying for a long, long time that Stiles is something. I’m constantly ranting about third eyes, clone theories, chimera fetus experiments and whatnot, so as you can probably guess, I have no clue exactly what he is. But it’s something, probably linked to belief in some shape or form. 

One of the “evidence” I’ve talked about is Stiles’ strength, which seems to go beyond that of a normal human. 5x11 provided us with at least two scenes that we can put in this category - the scene with Noah the chimera and the scene when he attacked Scott at the hospital. 

And before I go on, yes - I do know that in high-stress situations people can get an extra push or strength because of adrenaline. And yes, Stiles is definitely high strung all episode, scared out of his mind of losing his dad. This can explain both situations. But the fact is that we have, through the seasons, been witness to an escalating trend of Stiles pushing around supernaturals with ten-times or more his strength. We’re long past the magical point of 3, which means it’s a pattern. 

Let’s look at this episode first, and I’ll start with Noah since that was what you asked about. 

They’re chasing him because they think (and rightly so) that he was the one that hurt the sheriff. Stiles is naturally worried, angry and impatient to get info out of him. His dad is dying after all. 

They find Noah, who’s running for his life from the dread doctors. Now if we apply the same sort of logic to Noah that we might do to explain Stiles’ elevated strength, namely stressful, life-threatening situation that probably have your adrenaline pumping, then Noah should be stronger than usual, not weaker. 

Malia is the one to catch him, and to hold him pinned down, she’s using her coyote-powers. Her face is shifted, fangs and claws out. 

When they realize the Doctors are coming, Malia let’s him go. The Stiles pounces. He grabs him, knocks him against the wall, keeping him seemingly effortlessly in place while he chews him out. 

Noah is fearing for his life from two sources by now - the doctors and this gang of crazies that he has no way of knowing what will do to him. I can’t with any certainty say that Noah isn’t half paralyzed with fear. But knowing how most of the chimeras have reacted in similar situations, we know they can pack a punch. 

Now let’s review the other scene from 511, where once again Stiles tosses around a supernatural, this time Scott. 

Now I will admit that a) Scott isn’t really at his best (we know he’s not healing and he has some issues with his wolfy powers), but he still got some juice in him and b) Scott is taken by surprise. 

But even if Scott isn’t really fighting back, it still takes at least two grown men with considerable more bulk than Stiles to get him off Scott and hold him back. 

But this isn’t the first time Stiles has tossed around people that he shouldn’t be able to even get a dent in. I list a bunch of examples and go into detail in this post. 

I think we’re building towards a sort of reveal where Stiles is concerned at that this ties into it, along with the head injuries that he should have, but that doesn’t seem to affect him at all. I’ve also talked about how Stiles seems to never get hurt or heal faster than normal humans do.

TW 5x12: Scott - a piece in the unsolved chimera puzzle

My crazy RL situation prevents me from spending much time on tumblr these days, so I’m sure this has already been addressed, but I flailed so hard at this scene I just have to make a post about it. 

I’m talking about Scott attempt to make a murderboard which connects him quite literary to the chimeras. The moment is funny, and I think most people come out of it with a sense that Scott needs Stiles because he sucks at this, which he obviously does. But in addition I think they left us with a very clear hint of his connection to it all. 

We’ve all seen Stiles’ murderboards which seems to aid him however much of a clutter it looks like to us. He’s spent a lot of time connecting dots using strings of thread. Green = Solved, Yellow = to be determined and Red = unsolved. He was mostly using red. 

Scott is only using red. The color of the thread means that Scott hasn’t understood the connection yet. But he’s right about one thing - the chimeras are all connected. And he’s connected to it. 

He asks the question: ? Last Chimera

The answer is right there. He’s the last chimera. Or if he isn’t, he’s at least connected to all of this and will turn out to be something as well. Is he the thing running around now? Perhaps not, but he’s got a role to play in all this, mark my words. 

The red thread signifying the chimera connections is stuck to Scott as well. He tries to tug it off, severing the tie, but only ends up dragging most of it off the board instead of breaking the connection. He tugs, all the chimeras follow him. I wonder if this is a sort of foreshadowing as well? They all fall on the floor - at his feet. 

The scene ends with this image. Scott with the red thread connecting him to the chimeras, standing in front of a huge photo of railroad tracks. The symbolism seems clear to me. Scott is on a journey heading for changes and challenges. It’s not necessarily a train he’s climbed on-board willingly, but judging by the point of view of the photo and his position he’s clearly a passenger on it.  A massive knot of red thread hangs over the picture. His journey seems chimera related.

Add his non-healing wound (right at the heart - I think there’s a possibility the doctors have done something similar to him as with Theo) and his failing strength, it is clear that he’s changing. 

I can’t help but notice the similarities to what happened with Derek in season 4. He too lost his strength (had trouble keeping Brett down), healed slowly (the gunshot wound) and lost his sense of smell (needed Malia to help track Brett and his pack). Derek probably died briefly in Mexico, which triggered his final stage of change. Now we have the same with Scott, only in reverse. Scott died first.

(Unless Derek died while behind the wall in Mexico of course, and that triggered the same kind of changes we now see in Scott. We also have Belasko who was a supernatural who went through changes behind a wall, so Derek could’ve been a chimera project too for all we know). 

Scott’s not healing. His strength is gone (needs Stiles to help lift stuff) and I also think his smell is weaker (called Malia to help track Noah in 511, didn’t smell more people inside the Tate house in 512). He can still shift though as demonstrated when Theo and the chimeras attacked, but was that all him or because Stiles was there? We have instances that can suggest Scott is stronger when Stiles is around.

So is Scott on the same sort of journey that Derek was that will lead him to “evolve” into a better werewolf, someone that can accomplish the full shift and is in balance between his human and wolf side? 

Or are we witnessing a metamorphosis of a different kind and with another outcome. Not a personal growth, but a forced physical change, more in line with Kafka’s Metamorphosis, which  was left as a clue to us way back in the pilot episode. 

I think you know what I think :) 

After the ice baths all three got “premonitions”. Scott’s was this great hulking shadow growing out of him. He was scared to shift, fearing he could lose control. 

Allison saw Kate alive again which turned out to be true. She also had visions of her heart being removed, Kate saying there was something wrong with it. Funny how hearts are now back in full play, with Theo killing his own sister to get a heart transplant, Scott having non-healing wound right over his heart. Did something happen to Allison’s heart? 

Stiles’ visions were all connected to the nemeton - seeing it in his dreams, it reaching out for him, hints of him closing the door. Something is stirring in that cut down tree, and it seems like it was trying to warn them. Scott of what he would become, Allison that she might unwittingly be a part of it (and Kate seems to be involved whether she knows it or not), and Stiles perhaps is the one that can close it. He’s heavily associated with keys, doors and transitional spaces, so that fits as well. 

Also while watching the latest episode I couldn’t help thinking about Scott’s tattoo

Stiles has never liked it. He hated it when Scott got it, and this fact was repeated this episode. Clearly it’s important.  Stiles’ gut feelings are often right, this shouldn’t be ignored.

I don’t think the tattoo itself is dangerous necessarily, but the shape reminds me of the rings on the nemeton. With all the hints about Dante’s inferno and the circles of hell, this could be another connection. Perhaps the nemeton does hide “hell” at it’s core. If so I find it very alarming that Scott of his own free will has situated himself in the dead center of this. Because the circles wrap around his arm - he’s at the center of it. 

I also thought this image was oddly fitting in that regard. The same symbol and the core = Scott, is pitch black. And the blackness seems to be breaking free, spreading. 

Also I saw a great post while I was on mobile the other day and it would’t reblog, so I don’t remember who the poster was, but it basically made the connection of “Beauty and The Beast” paralleled with  La Bete and the Valet character Crystal will be playing, and Scott and Allison in our time. It fits very nicely. History repeating and all that jazz :)
