Simon (Iron Lung)
Gomez Addams (The Addams Family)
Im sorry Gomez, but Simon must continue on
this is fucking killing me bro. computah, show me more hot hockey firefighters whaling on cops
im not really asking for advice because theres literally nothing i can do about it, but my moms white ass coworker sent her a DOOZY of a text a while ago and i thought it might make you laugh out of pure absurdity
so, my familys jamaican, but my moms lightskinned. one of her coworkers was in an airport restaurant on the way back from a work trip when she turned to who she thought was the server but was actually a Black man (she didnt say he was Black but it was obvious). he tells her "whoa, whoa lady relax I'm not gonna hurt you.” and then when asked why he thought she thought he was going to hurt him, he says “because youre a white lady” (these are direct quotes from the text she sent im so serious). this woman, who is WHITER THAN SNOW, then starts talking about how “my sister *my mom* is from jamaica and is visiting extended family there now and i dont seem to scare them”
this sounds like a tumblr fake story, right? and like, my mom is of a similar complexion but is actually Black and ig thats where she got the caucacity from????
So like... She deadass just lied about your mom being her sister instead of her whole ass coworker in order to deflect accusations of potential racism... And that didn't occur to her at all as being... Also an act of racism 😅 Caucasity is right.
That was an interesting part in Racism Without Racists by Dr. Bonilla Silva; that when questioned about "Black friends", a lot of white people will imply a closer relationship with someone than they actually have in order to subconsciously dodge the reality that they don't have strong relationships with us. But when the "friends" in question were asked about, they couldn't really give details about them or why they were "close". 😅
My latest cartoon for New Scientist
To be clear, this isn't a bit. This is what they actually did. "Its too late" is the new "Climate change isn't real"... And its still a lie!
Every serious climate scientist agrees that there is no such as thing as too late, just as there is no such thing as too early. We should have done a lot more than we have to fight climate change, and the world will suffer for our inaction, but there is no point of no return. We can always work to reduce the amount of suffering that occurs, and eventually turn things around to the point where our planet is healing once again. Do not believe anyone who says it's "too late".
*jumps at you with a wet thud*
Here’s a community reminder that the New York Post is owned by Rupert Murdoch, owner of Fox News, and is generally considered to be an arm of the far right’s propaganda machine.
They just do a slightly better job of pretending they’re centrist or liberal than Fox News, because their goal is not to sway conservatives, but to sway everyone to the left of the far right.
They're really trying to tan-suit-obama him, eh?

MRI machines and cooling units and AC and IT systems in hospitals are breaking due to the heat. Lab equipment is failing. Some cancer treatments cannot be done due to machine failures. A&E overcrowding is worse due to heat related health issues and sheer amount of people is making the heat in hospitals worse (and the AC! Is breaking!) Patients with appointments are being advised to bring in "a lot" of water with them to be able to safely attend. Fans cannot be used in hospitals. Norwich has no functuoning MRI scanners right now. And the staff have to keep working through all of this, they are getting ill and sleep deprived which is compounding issues further. This is not normal 👍

Happy disability pride month to everyone with ptsd, happy disability pride month to everyone with complex ptsd, happy disability pride month to everyone who questions if their problems are big enough to count as a disability, happy disability pride month to anyone who questions if their problems count as a physical or mental disability, happy pride month to everyone who has a disability that causes people to stare, and to those whose disabilities are hidden, happy disability pride month to everyone who deals with any kind of disability physical or mental, you’re all badass and I want you to remember that this month okay
I’m not sure if you can help me, but this situation left me so bewildered that I’m looking for advice 😅 for context I’m a white woman. I have a Black coworker who I’m working with friends with. He’s a nice guy and we talk a lot.
We were talking yesterday about dating and the dating scene when he suddenly said “I’d never date another Black woman.”
I was super taken aback and said “oh, I mean, I don’t think thats really fair.” But he said “nah, you arent in the Black dating scene, you wouldn’t understand.” (I’m in a committed relationship). I didn’t know what to say and just kind of changed the subject.
I thought I had gotten better at calling out racism from my white coworkers but this made me clam up. Any thoughts on a better way to handle something like this?
HE'S A
ABORT MISSION, DO NOT PASS GO, DO NOT COLLECT $200
Seriously that is a red flag of misogynoir if I've ever seen one and at least he said the quiet part out loud. If you want any solidarity with Black women you dodge this guy stat. Maintaining your working relationship if you must because we must all get paid, but do NOT be friends with that guy. Don't. Do not contribute to the misogynoir.
I just found the funniest font ever
Like. What is this. Why is this. Who is the target audience of this?
The font is called "Redacted Script," it's available for free here, and I just ran to download it because I am, in fact, the target audience for this

Reblog this on the first of the month for good luck all month long!
today I found out my mother doesn’t know what dandelions are and now I’m wondering what other strange secrets she’s been quietly harboring
Where do you live that you don’t have dandelions?
we have dandelions EVERYWHERE, they are basically our State Weed, it is absolutely impossible that my mom has never interacted with a dandelion before, this requires further investigation
So after extensive interrogation I have an update:
my mom is in fact aware that dandelions exist. she temporarily forgot the name and there was some miscommunication.
the truth is actually weirder
she’s aware dandelions look like this
she is familiar with this flower. she knows the name of this flower. she declines to believe, however, that these are also dandelions
she does not believe these are the same plant. I tried to explain, and she thought I was either misinformed or lying. so I asked her what exactly did she think the yellow ones were called?
she answered, with complete confidence: Daffodils.
gosh I enjoy this website
For comparison, this is a daffodil
See, folks in the southern US will tell you up and down those are buttercups, actually.
i don’t think so? i’m southern and buttercups are what we call these things (much tinier)
Wait I thought those bigger cup ones were Easter Lillies???
This is an Easter Lily. It is an actual lily and therefore deadly to cats.
They’re marigolds and I know a bitch when I see one!
This is a marigold:
….we need to start taking the phrase “go touch grass” more literally. go outside and examine a flower i beg u
“buttercups” is a name applied to MANY flowers. in my part of the south it was this one:
imo there’s correct identifications of dandelions, daffodils, easter lilies and marigolds in this thread, but buttercups are simply impossible to agree on and the only solution is for everyone to post pictures of their local buttercups
*squints* is that a motherfucking EVENING PRIMROSE?!??
Hello I would like to add to the confusion:
That purple fella is a Morning Glory as told by my mothers (texan)
⬆️ morning glory
wait so if thats morning glory what is this?
*Puts hand over gaud’s mouth* It’s a butterfly pea. Please ignore the Latin name.
*licks ur palm* i won’t be silenced THE PEOPLE HAVE TO KNOW
i used to understand summer preferrers i used to see where they were coming from but frankly in 2026 its just an inexcusable position to hold. you think any of this is okay? you sicko?
god forbid Black women have fun
Black woman invents or popularises a phrase -> it enters the vernacular and circulates widely amongst Black and nonblack people -> people removed from the phrase's initial context read it too literally, do not interpret it with sensitivity, assume that the ideas expressed when people use it are shallow / "over"-sexualised / problematic in some way or another that mirrors their feelings about Black people as a whole -> there is a backlash where a supposedly more 'thoughtful,' 'subversive,' etc. alternative to the initial phrase is offered, implying that the initial phrase contained none of that complexity within it -> rinse & repeat
