THE SPIRIT OF BUSTER KEATON LIVES ON
i wish i could see this picture for the first time again
Every time I see some gamerbro edit of a female video game character to make her 'prettier', I always see something I have mentally dubbed Cockroach Wife Syndrome (in honor of the guy who accidentally conditioned himself to only be aroused by a fantasy of his cockroach wife Ogtha).
That is to say, there is a certain subset of gamerbro who interacts so rarely with real women, that his primary touchstone for how women look is fiction: often video games and anime. So when a video game woman looks too realistic--too close to having traits that one might find in real flesh and blood women--this is foreign to them. This is unattractive. They have been jacking it to hentai and blender animation porn for too many years, and have inadvertently conditioned themselves to only be sexually aroused by the exaggerated cartoonish traits of animated women.
So now every time I see one such edit, I can't help but think. My. What a coincidence you've made her look more like an anime waifu. Truly dedicated to your cockroach wife.
You canât just breeze over something like âthe guy who accidentally conditioned himself to only be aroused by a fantasy of his cockroach wife Ogthaâ without at least linking a 20 minute video breakdown of this manâs descent into madness.
Oh is Ogtha not common knowledge? Eight years ago this was posted on reddit:
Two years ago, we got this update on the life of this roachfucker:
TLDR it's a guy who became obsessed with human-sized roaches with human intelligence after reading Kafka in high school, an obsession which eventually came to monopolize his romantic interests (and has sporadically had catastrophic impacts on his life ever since).
what the fuck happened to my post
Shh... We're reading about the cockroach wife tulpa
Keep on trying no matter what!!!
i get so emotional every time i think about fanfic culture. it's just so beautiful that people are writing and anonymously posting these thousand-word stories about characters we all love and not even getting any money or public fame from it. it's literally just for the love of the game.
shout out to everyone who participates in fanfic culture, be it reading or writing fanfics. you are contributing to such a lovely thing <3
Itâs crazy that countries on the edge of the Sahara desert are reversing desertification by just digging half circles
The ground in these places is too compact for water to soak in during wet season which leads to flooding but digging these holes gives the water a place to stop and soak in. And theyâre pushing back the desert with this. By just digging holes.
The new plants also help even more water soak into the ground which reduces flooding even more.
These places also give people places to grow food and graze animals like people are turning completely dry compact desert into a refuge for wildlife and plants and solving regional food insecurity just by digging holes.
The half-circles are called zaï! They're a traditional farming practice in the Sahel desert, and their introduction + reintroduction can be largely credited to Yacouba Sawadogo, the man linked above! He reintroduced and innovated on the zaï on his own farm in the 1980s, and did extensive outreach (along with scientist Mathieu Ouédraogo) to encourage other farmers to adopt them as well.
He also promoted the use of cordons pierreux, which are basically just lines of rocks to reduce erosion, preserve sediments, and increase water absorption.
Immensely cool dude. He's been a personal hero since I learned about him.
Ooooh, Mr. Sawadoga innovated the traditional zai method by adding manure and other biological matter to the holes! This put nutrients in the soil as well as helping even more with water retention and attracted termites whose tunnels helped loosen the compacted earth, all of which supported plant-growth like no zai before! Which increased water-retention even further! Oh excellent, excellent work!
It is a crime that the link preview doesn't show Mr. Sawadoga's face, so here's his photo from Wikipedia.
This is the face of a man adding beauty to the world and making the future better.
Always remember that the EU did a study in 2013 about the effects of piracy on media publishers and found that there is no correlation between piracy and sales! (And then they tried to hide that study bc that's not the result they wanted)
So piracy is at worst not even a problem, and at best it's free advertisement.
Source: (the link to the actual study is in the article)
In 2013, the European Commission ordered a âŹ360,000 ($430,000) study on how piracy affects sales of music, books, movies and games in the EU
Plus this one:
A new report out of the UK once again deflates the common narrative that pirates are exclusively looking to obtain free stuff.

still remember how revolutionary this ad felt 10 years ago
excuse me but it still feels revolutionary
Keep reblogging until it feels normal everywhere.
For context: this came out in 2011 in Australia. Same-sex marriage would not be legalized until December 2017.
It was only legalized in 8 US states (the 8th only a few months before), and wouldnât be legalized nation-wide until 2015.
It was only legal in TEN COUNTRIES in 2011. We wouldnât hit 20 countries until 2017. (Australia was 23rd)
As of today (April 14, 2026), I believe only 38 countries have fully legalized same-sex marriage. Out of somewhere around 200 countries in the world. Thatâs only ~19% of countries.
This is still revolutionary.

Have you ever seen a violinist going APESHIT?!
Be sure to check out IAmDSharp!
GO OFFF
Ok so Iâve been playing for 18 years and iâm a string teacher. Can i just say how IMPORTANT it is for young kids to see a BLACK, MALE-PRESENTING PERSON playing, nae, SHREDDING on a violin? Iâve know maybe 5 black people who played stringed instruments throughout my schooling and teaching (predumably because iâm an upper middle class white woman). In districts where the population is predominantly black, funding is always low, so the instruments are crappy. Kids quit, or the program is dismantled. Iâve seen very few professional string players who are black.
Obviously there are black string players. We just donât see them because they âdonât look likeâ string players.
This person is the real deal. They were clearly classically trained, and seems to have some fiddle training as well. How cool is that?
But also⊠RAD PLAYING MY DUDEEEE
this is the coolest guy alive actually
I think this might be the coolest thing Iâve ever seen in my life that involves a violin
REblog if you are Asexual, support Asexuals, or spend most of your time actually thinking about Superheroes.
Hello, tumblr! I saw something on here the other day that worried me, so I decided to Do Science about it. But I can't do it alone: I need your help to build the dataset!
Here's what I need you to do:
If you see a post with a "mature content" label, and it's 2026, DM me a link to the post.
Yes, that's really it.
I am hoping to collect several thousand such posts, so that I have a decent sized dataset. I do not care what the post is about; if it's labeled as "mature content", I want to add it to my dataset.
If I get 10,000 posts in my dataset before August 31st 2026, I will post my preliminary findings then. I won't feel comfortable calling my findings "settled" before 2027, unless I get over 50,000 posts.
Is this actually a safe space to say (let me clarify I understand guessing peopleâs sexualities is bad and I know itâs bad Iâm bad I know) I truly believe in woosan⊠like⊠they have to be a real couple. Am I missing something?? Like. Same with matz. I truly believe they are a couple. Am I really terrible for this. Like. I see people online saying I ship them but I donât ACTUALLY ship them and if you do youâre weird.. butâŠâŠ. Am I weird or evilâŠ. LikeâŠ
i actually want to answer this seriously because while i do think this is a fun and games environment here over at makesoneteam headquarters, this is something i am very passionate about i am taking your hand between mine gently when i say this: you HAVE to kill the cop in your mind. you need to understand a few things here. one, and i cannot overstate this enough, speculating about other humans is not evil or bad. it is normal. it is, if you wanna get down to it, somewhat biologically innate-- we have to parse out who we view as a threat or not to survive, you know, even if that is informed by social cues that are culturally influenced or etc etc etc (and that can get messy and we can go into that later but just know since this is The Bad Faith Website i am well aware of how this is sometimes not a good thing). you-- yes, you-- make assumptions about people all the time. and you-- yes, you!-- are the subject of assumptions about other people. all the time! put another way-- are you 100% honest and upfront 100% of the time about 100% of your identity? or do you think that people are filling in the gaps based on context, their own lived experience, and sheer guesswork? and do you think that those people are probably wrong sometimes? and sometimes they're right? but ultimately, if those people are not using their assumptions to harm you, Does It Fucking Matter? "guessing peopleâs sexualities is bad" is some puritanical bullshit i need you to kindly escort out of your home at this moment. you do it all the time-- society does it all the time. assuming someone is default straight is, in fact, a form of speculation. and it's okay. it literally is okay. it happens all the time-- to you, to me-- and we all miraculously live. when it becomes bad-- when any of it becomes bad-- is when you use your own speculation to justify harm. but note-- VERY IMPORTANTLY-- i did not say "when you take your own speculation as truth". we will get to that in a second. if you use your own speculation to justify harm in any way, you've crossed the line. and by harm, i can mean a variety of different things, from literal physical harm to emotional harm to harm to yourself in the form of forming unhealthy parasocial attachments to all the other types. but like. here's the thing. you believe that santa claus is real? okay! fuck yeah! why the hell not! does that mean you hate every parent that puts out toys for their kids on christmas? no? then who fucking cares! you believe that woosan is real? fuck yeah! why the hell not! are you going to bring it up to them directly? are you going to interfere with their lives? are you going to use it in a way that is going to harm them or you? no? then whooooo fucking caaaaaaaaaares. and i say this because people do care, inexplicably, because they have this grand moral complex wherein they believe that they can purge their minds of any impure thoughts and it will make them Better Than Everyone.
look, there are people that would tell you that fantasising about other people sexually is morally wrong because the object of your fantasies does not consent to it or whatever the fuck. there are people who would love nothing more than for you to believe that you are an evil and dirty and bad person who is committing heinous crimes by speculating on sexuality and making some barbies kiss, because they have their own internal shame, likely informed by some purity culture bullshit, and they cannot fathom a world that is not black and white. they cannot possibly fathom a world wherein there is, god forbid, nuance. wherein someone can have thoughts that may or may not be true-- and, i'm gonna say it here, may or may not be harmful!-- and not be An Awful Irredeemable Evil Person. and to those people i say: lmao get fucked. sorry could you not hear me over your mom screaming my name? i said get fucked. like i'm fucking your mom. currently. i'm having sex with your mom on a serious note: this is the kind of talk that is harmful, too. it borders on symptoms of disorders like OCD wherein you punish yourself for having impure thoughts. i am not saying you have OCD pleeeeeease do not take that this way, but i am saying that consistently monitoring your own internal narrative, daydreams, fantasies, and silly fun beliefs about two guys who you will never know personally and can never definitively say anything about for anything impure will rot you from the inside out eventually. let it go. breathe. and if tumblr user ihavenofunever thinks you are a bad person for it, they can sit with the knowledge that they just speculated about you, a person they do not know. in the meantime, i am going to continue holding your hand while we take that cop out back and shove him into a well. okay? okay because this is the Bad Faith Website: this does not apply if the things you are choosing to believe are rooted in oppressive systems or actively harmful rhetoric (e.g., if you believe something about someone because of a racist belief). but equating "thinking two guys are likely kissing in secret" to that is another form of puritanical bullshit that people need to seriously introspect on

âWhatâs the most pettiest thing youâve taken from your ex after yâall break up. Iâll go first-â
âMany years ago, just a few days before Christmas, my ex informed me that he was no longer happy. He was seeing somebody else and âjust wanted to move on with his life.â He suggested I move out after the holidays because, you know, it was his house, and I understood that. I moved out that same day. I called my sister, she brought a Uhaul, and we got my stuff out of there. But when I say my stuff, I meant, my stuff. I took everything. He had nothing when I got there, and I left him with nothing. And to top it all off...I took the damn Christmas tree. Yes I did. Tied it to the top of my car, ornaments and all. I was riding down the highway, ornaments falling off, I felt like the grinch...it was exhilarating...ho ho ho, mother- I canât say that.â
