Greek Mythology in a nutshell
Zeus: Look at this poor, malnourished girl. Locked up by her own father.
Zeus: You know what she needs? To be poor, malnourished and pregnant!
Turns into golden rain
This was for a school project. Enjoy.
----
Once upon a time there was a guy named Hades. After the Titan war, he was banished from Olympus and became God and King of the underworld. But ruling alone was lonely and dude wanted a wife.
One day while visiting the surface, he spotted a beautiful young girl playing in a field of flowers with her dryad friends. She was so beautiful that he was immediately drawn to her and soon fell in love with her.
The girl’s name was Persephone and she was the daughter of Demeter. Demeter, the goddess of harvest had a fiery temper and was overprotective of her daughter. When she was away, she left Persephone to be watched over by the dryads.
Hades knew he would never get through to Demeter so he went to a different god for help. Zeus. (Note: Never take advice from Zeus.)
Zeus was King of the gods and father of Persephone, as well as a well known womaniser. If anyone knew how to woe a girl, it was him right? Wrong. He suggested that Hades kidnap Persephone when Demeter was away.
“Are you sure?”
“Trust me, bro. Have I ever let you down?”
“Yes.”
“…..”
“…..”
“Well, you don’t have any other ideas or you won’t be coming to me for help.”
He had a point. So Hades kidnapped Persephone and dragged her into the underworld.
The dryads panicked when they noticed Persephone was missing.
“Demeter’s gonna kill us!”
“Maybe she’s just hiding! We were playing hide and seek!"
“She was the seeker, dummy!”
When Demeter learnt her daughter was missing, she desperately went on a mission to find. When she realised that Hades had kidnapped her, she was furious. Unfortunately, ancient laws forbid her to enter the Underworld without permission. So she stormed Olympus and confront Zeus about Hades.
“Can you believe the nerve of that guy? Kidnapping our daughter?”
“Well, um….”
“….”
“….”
To Demeter’s annoyance, Zeus not only gave Hades his blessing but even helped him kidnap Persephone.
“You should be pleased! Persephone has been chosen to Queen of the underworld!”
“….”
“….”
“Bring her back….”
“Well, I’m King and my word is law. I can’t just take them back. Sorry, bro.”
He shrugged.
Demeter was furious. Her usual warm, nurturing demeanour turned cold and bitter.
“Mark my words, Zeus. Bring my daughter back to me, or I will turn any and all fertile lands into an eternal winter.”
Back in the underworld, Persephone was given a nice big room and plenty of food to eat. But she wasn’t dumb. Accepting the food meant she accepted her position in the underworld, but girl wasn’t planning on staying
“Return me home at once, Hades!”
Hades pleaded with her to stay. He told her how lonely he was in the underworld and how he just wanted a wife. Persephone begin to pity him. He persuaded her to take just one pomegranate and after being hungry for days, she finally accepted.
Unfortunately, Zeus did not heed Demeter’s warning. True to her words, Demeter brought about a devastating snowstorm that buried all the mortals’ crops. Dying of starvation, the mortals pleaded with the gods to free them from the plague and finally Zeus relented.
He summoned Demeter, Hades and Persephone to court, which was just Olympus with Zeus holding a gavel.
Zeus ordered Hades to return Persephone to Demeter.
“Hades return Persephone so that we can all go home already!”
“I cannot. Persephone has eaten the fruits of the underworld. Ancient law states that she must stay.”
They all turned to Persephone as she produced a half-eaten Pomegranate.
Zeus sheepishly received the Pomegranate. He could practically feel Demeter breathing down his neck with her frosty breath.
“Eternal. Winter.”
“Okay, okay. Sheesh.”
He rubbed his neck with a shiver.
“How about since she only ate half a pomegranate, she spends half the year in the underworld and the other half with her mother? We’re all in agreement? Great.”
He banged his stupid gavel and the court was adjourned.
So just like that the changing of the seasons was born.
When Persephone goes to the underworld, Demeter grows cold and bitter, covering the earth with snow. It is said that when mother and daughter reunite in the spring, their joy will cause flowers to bloom around them, earning Persephone the name, goddess of Springtime.

I had to cut out Hecate and Demeter's search for Persephone cos I didnt want to add too many characters. Btw, in my notes I wrote “Demeter is Mother”.
My headcanon for Bruce and Jason's strained relationship is Bruce sees himself the most in Jason.
Like Bruce, Jason set out on his own after his parents died and learnt to fight on the streets.
Bruce took him in to show him another way of life, like he did with Dick.
So when Jason died, Bruce truly believed that he had failed him.
And when Jason came back, a dark emo shell of his old self. Bruce feared the worse.
Robin is supposed to be Batman's light. But Jason was more like Bruce's shadow. A reflection of what he may become if pushed to the limits.
But Bruce being Bruce, instead of dealing with it in a healthy way, chooses to push Jason further away from him, leading Jason to believe that Bruce no longer cared for him or never cared for him cause he wasn't the shiny, bright Robin like Dick was.
This is set directly after Radio Silence. I apologise for any inconsistencies.
After the live event, I was invited to do a signing session. Frances had already set up the booth with printouts of drawings she had done for the podcast. I took in a deep breath and approached the booth with some hesitance. Performing Live was one thing, but meeting my fans in person? That was a whole other level of scary. However, before I even thought about ditching, Frances waved me over. She waved her hand wildly and called out towards me. She had an excited grin on her face.
“Hey, Aled!”
Too late to back out now.
I plastered on a smile and walked over to her.
“Hey…”
She furrowed her eyebrows and gave me a look.
“You weren’t thinking about backing out, were you?”
I looked away.
“Noooo….”
I never was a good liar.
She smiled back.
“Good. Cause Raine texted me that she’s coming with Carys and Daniel later.”
I blinked at her in surprise. A cheeky smirk spread across her face. I guessed she had planned this.
“What? You didn’t think your friends would miss the opportunity to support you?”
I wasn’t sure how I felt about this new Frances. Seeing her so comfortable in her skin was strange yet oddly comforting.
“I dunno…. It’s just not their thing.”
I was still getting used to all this. The last time I had this many friends was... Well, it was a long time ago. It was before everything happened with Carys. Sometimes, I look back at it fondly and wonder if my life would have turned out differently. It feels like a whole different lifetime ago.
I could tell Frances was reading my expression.
“Well, you better get used to it. This is our new life now. No stress. No school. And most importantly, no Uni! Just us and Universe City!”
I smiled and turned toward her.
“Didn’t you apply to that Art College?”
She shot me a look which made me laugh. It felt… nice.
We didn’t have any more chances to talk as a crowd had started to form at the booth. Soon I found myself chatting animatedly with my fans. It seemed many had come up with interesting theories and were hoping I answer some of them. It was oddly fun discussing the thing I care about most with so many people. They seemed so different to the ‘fans’ who have been sending me threat letters and spamming my Tumblr with hate.
“Um, Aled? That group of fans have been calling for your attention for the past ten minutes.”
Frances said as she tapped my shoulder.
I turned towards said group in confusion. Sure enough, they were waving their hands, jumping up and down, and calling out to me.
I frowned. The group was still further in the queue, and it wasn’t the shouting that was strange. No, most fans know me as “Radio Silence” or “The Creator” or “Aled Last”. But for them? They were calling out to me, Aled. I squinted my eyes, hoping to get a better look at them, when I noticed something about one of the boys. He had dark hair, blue eyes and dimples. He was also sitting on the shoulders of a blonde, buff rugby player.
I froze. It… it couldn’t be, could it?
Frances held on to me tightly as I found myself staggering into her. She gave me a look of concern.
“Is everything alright? Do you know them? Should I call security?”
I shook my head quickly.
“No… no, it’s alright….”
I said between labouring pants.
“It’s… it’s just… I… I wasn’t expecting them… I haven’t.”
I stammered about hopelessly. Why can't I form a constructive sentence?
Frances looked at me with wide eyes.
“Fuck, you’re having a panic attack!”
Was I? The room was starting to spin, and my vision became hazy. The loud noises around me slowly blurred into white noise, and… what? What was happening to me?
Frances immediately sat me down on a chair and gave me some water.
“Here, drink this. Slowly.”
I did as she said.
“Okay. Now, deep breath in… 1, 2, 3. Now out, 1, 2, 3… again. In…”
I followed her guidance and suddenly felt a lot better.
“Now tell me everything.”
I nodded, but I didn’t couldn't find the right words to begin.
“It’s okay. Take your time. We can temporarily close the booth for now.”
She announced a quick break before turning her attention back to me.
“Now talk. Who are those people?”
“Well, they’re… they’re my friends. From Truhm. Well, were my friends, I guess….”
She nodded.
“What happened?”
“I…I don't know. Just… they’re kind of a year or so older than me… And there was a lot of talk about School and University and… And then Carys…. And mum…. And Universe City.… and I guess I sort of just…. Stopped talking to them?”
I looked away, embarrassed. The realisation finally hit me on how long I've been cutting off people who cared about me. It started with Charlie and the Paris gang. Then, Dan and Frances….
She nodded, taking in my words slowly.
“Why haven’t you told me about them before?”
I bit my lip. The subject had never come up, and I never guessed they would reappear so suddenly.
“It's about ‘keeping things separate’ again, isn’t it?”
I nodded.
She sighed.
“Aled, I know it hasn't been easy but remember what we talked about? You can’t just stop talking to people just because it’s too difficult. You stopped talking to Daniel and me when things got too tough, which only caused us to worry! Nothing changes until you open up.”
I did not want to meet her eyes right now.
“It’s different. I didn’t talk to you and Dan for months. But I haven’t talked to them for well, years. I don’t even know how they found me here.”
Frances smiled and placed a hand on top of mine.
“Hey, it’s going to be okay. They came here looking for you, which means they truly care about you. And most importantly, you don't have to go through this alone anymore. You have me and all our other friends! I can always follow you to talk to them.”
I smiled. She was right.
I shook my head and pushed her away. I stood up with all the confidence I could muster.
“No, I… I can do this.”
She gave me an encouraging smile. I returned it and headed for them.
“Do you think maybe he didn’t hear us?”
“I dunno…. It seemed like he saw us….”
“Maybe he just doesn’t want to see us. It has been years after all….”
“Look, Aled was going through a lot. He had a lot to deal with. And…. We weren’t there for him. So if he doesn’t want to see us anymore, we should just be understanding.”
They had all gathered at a corner, sharing snacks. As I approached them, I could hear them chatting about me. This is a bad idea…. I should just leave before they notice me. I turned around only to see Frances shooting me encouraging thumbs-up signs.
Okay, so turning back is not an option. I took in a deep breath and approached them.
“Hey, guys!”
At the sound of my voice, they spun around.
I stood there awkwardly and send them a wave. Before i could react, Darcy came crashing a hug into me. It was closely followed by Elle, Nick and charlie.
“Come on, Dar. Give him some space. He still needs to breathe.”
Tara pried her girlfriend away from me. The others let go as well.
“Oh my god, Aled! After you left the group chat and stopped answering your messages, we all assumed you changed your number and we were never gonna see you again!”
Charlie approached first.
But before I could response, Tao barged in.
“It wasnt until I heard something about a popular podcast being created by some kid called Aled Last that we thought we might find you again.”
“We spent the last few months listening to the podcast and searching on ‘Universe City’ and “Radio SiIence” did we learn about this convention.”
Elle added.
I was stunned. I didn't know what to say. I had been the one to shut them out and yet here they are, opening their arms out to me and acting like nothing had happened. Tears begin to well up in my eyes and vision became blurry.
“Hey… is everything OK?”
I smiled and nodded.
“Yeah, I'm OK. Thanks guys."
They grinned back. They begin chatting up a storm, catching up with our lives. It was like nothing had changed, I was 15 again and nothing else mattered.
After chatting for a while, I noticed Frances desperately getting my attention and calling me back.
"Oh, wait!”
Charlie whipped out his phone.
"Let's exchange numbers. I'll add you back into the group chat, if you want, of course.”
I nodded and took out my phone.
"One more thing. All of us are going to the HIGGS reunion party ahead of it's grand re-opening. You should come!”
Charlie nodded to Frances.
"Invite your new friends too!”
I nodded and headed back to the booth.
"So, how did it go?”
I shook my head.
"I'll tell you later.”
She grinned.
I looked at my phone as a notification appeared.
Charlie Spring added you to "Paris Gang".
I grinned. Reunion party, huh? Maybe I should go.
"Have you got everything you need?"
"Yes, Alfred...."
"Good."
Bruce walked towards the front door and was about to leave when he thought of something. He looked back into the house.
"Alfred?"
Alfred turned around in confusion.
"Yes, Master Bruce?"
"Would you.... Would you like to go with me this time?"
Alfred was shell-shocked.
"Are you.... Are you sure, Master Bruce?"
Bruce smiled and nodded.
"Yes, it's.... it's what my father would have wanted."
Alfred smiled.
"I'll go pack my things."
----
3 years later
Bruce sat at the dining table reading his newspaper when Alfred approached him."
"I noticed you haven't packed for the annual camping trip, Master Bruce. You haven't forgotten, have u?"
Alfred said as he set Bruce’s coffee on the table. Dick stops midway through his breakfast.
"What camping trip?"
Dick asked in confusion.
"No, Alfred, I haven't forgotten. I've just been too busy. And with Dick around, I think we should just skip it this year."
Bruce answered Alfred, ignoring Dick's confused glances.
"Why Master Bruce, you haven't missed a day, I don't think you should start now?"
Dick was getting increasingly annoyed, understandable as a 6-year-old.
"Missed what? What's going on?"
Bruce sighed.
"I'm busy. Besides, I can't exactly leave Dick alone in the manor. And before you suggest staying behind, you know I'm not letting you do that."
"Actually, I was going to suggest you bring the boy along this year."
Alfred nodded towards an excited Dick Grayson.
Before Bruce could protest, Dick jumped out of his seat in excitement.
"Yeah, camping trip!"
Dick exclaimed as he began jumping up and down.
Bruce frowned.
"I don't know...."
"It would be a good bonding experience for you and young master Richard."
Bruce looked thoughtful and sighed.
"Alright."
----
"Are you sure you don't want to come, Alfred?"
"No no, I have far too many chores to do. You boys enjoy yourselves."
Dick was excited. It was his first time going on a trip with Bruce since moving into the mansion. Bruce was so busy with work, they seldom had time to hang out and it often made Dick wonder why Bruce fostered him in the first place.
"So what exactly are we doing again?"
Dick asked, as they headed out.
Bruce sighed.
"When I was little, my dad would take me to hiking in the forest just north of the manor. We would camp the night and watch the sunrise in the morning."
Dick grinned.
"Sounds cool. I've never been camping before."
Bruce smiled fondly at the boy.
"When my parents died, I invited Alfred along with me. And it kind of became a tradition for me and Alfred."
Dick nodded. Bruce had told him a little about his parents' death, but he knew it was still a touchy subject.
"My dad promised to take me camping once."
Dick piped up.
Bruce looked at him with interest.
"But Haley's circus was always moving. We never even had a chance to visit the woods."
Bruce listened with interest. He patted the boy on his head. Alfred was right, this would be good for him and the boy.
Bruce suddenly stopped abruptly. Dick frowned in confusion.
"Why did we stop?"
But Bruce did not answer. Instead, he picked a pebble from the gravel floor. Dick looked on with interest.
"Choose a nice stone. You're gonna need it later."
Dick nodded and grabbed a pebble that caught his eye.
They continued on their hike and finally found a nice clearing.
"We're here. This is the campsite."
"Yes!"
Dick placed down his things. Bruce did the same, then took the pebble from his pocket and walked over to a corner where a pile of stones were gathered.
Dick followed him curiously.
Bruce took it a marker and handed it to him.
"Write your initials and place down the stone."
He placed down his own rock on a little pile of rocks labeled 'B.W.'
"Each time we come here, we place a rock until we make a little rock mountain. This is mine."
Then he pointed to a smaller stack beside his own labeled 'A.P.'
"This is Alfred's."
Then he gestured to the largest stack labeled 'T.W.'
"And this is my dad's."
Dick did as he was told and admired the other rock structures.
"Whoa. That's tall. Your dad must've come here often."
Bruce smiled.
"He used to come here all the time with his dad. N now I come here with you."
Dick registered the information, and a wide grin spread across his face.
"Thanks, Bruce."
"Anytime, son."
----
"Come on, Cass. You should come with us this year! It'll be fun!"
Duke persuaded.
Cass shook her head, stubbornly.
It was the annual camping trip. Bruce and the boys were all packed and ready to go. It was extra exciting, as it was Duke’s first trip with the family.
Steph placed an arm around Cass.
"Yeah, you're never going to convince her to come to your little 'Boy's trip'."
Dick chuckled.
"They're right, you know. We all tried."
Babs walked in.
"Plus, with the boys out of the house. Alfred lets us throw a little girls' night."
Duke looked at them, impressed.
"How'd you make Alfred agree to that?"
Steph shrugged.
"As long as we clean up after ourselves and keep the guest list to a minimum, Alfred sometimes even joins us for mani-pedis"
Dick grinned.
"Fair enough. Come on, let's make sure Tim isn't over-packing. Again."
Duke looked concerned.
"Again?"
Jason nodded.
"Yeah, last year he tried to bring 10 packs of instant coffee. Alfred caught him just in time."
Duke laughed at that. At the corner of his eye, he noticed Damian arguing with Bruce on bringing his pets along on the trip.
----
Duke felt a little silly carrying a pebble in his pocket, but the rest just gave him mysterious grins and said he'd find out later.
Finally, they reached a clearing. Duke began unpacking his things when he noticed the others gathered in a corner.
"What are you guys... doing?"
That's when he noticed the little rock structures with each of their initials. The boys grinned as they added a new rock to their structures.
Duke was still watching in amazement when he felt a hand on his shoulder. He turned around to see Bruce smiling at him and handing him a marker.
"It's your turn, son."
Duke smiled and took the marker. He wrote 'D.T.' on his pebble and set it beside Damian's.
"Hey, Bruce! Your pile is almost high as your dad's!"
Jason commented, ruining the perfect moment.

do you think jasons is as small as/similar in size to Damians due to his death 🤔
Good point. I don't think i thought it through so I'll leave to "readers' interpretation". 😅

To Old friends
Someone new comes along
when another leaves
It’s so easy to fall into the habit
And the cycle repeats
I thought this was forever
but I guess this is goodbye
Do you still think about me
The way I think about you
Maybe you’re the reason I stay awake at night
Or the reason I’ve never slept
Nymphs: Congratulations, it's a girl!
Leto: Oh, thank the titans, it's over!
Nymphs: Oh, it looks likes another one is crowning!
Leto: What?
The nymphs set down baby Artemis to help deliver the next baby. Little Artemis begins wandering about in the dark, the moon illuminating her path. As night begin to fall, she grew weary.
Toddler Artemis: When is my brother coming?
Nymphs nervously look at each other.
Nymphs: Soon now....
Artemis: This is taking too long. Let me do it!
She pushed aside the Nymphs and begin helping her mother deliver her brother.
As the sun begins to rise, baby Apollo was born with a golden glow. The nymphs shield their eyes from the glare, but they soon adjusted to the bright light.
Nymphs: Oh my....!
They quickly took baby Apollo away cooing at him as they attended to his needs.
That's how Artemis quickly learnt that Apollo's a Drama King.
Spy x Family Scrapbooking
Stephanie Brown ran as quickly as her legs could take her, refusing to look back at the scene behind her.
The moment she heard her father's heavy boots staggering up the stairs, her whole body froze. She squeezed the 2B pencil in her hand tightly, as she heard him fumbling with his keys.
"Godammit, Sharon! Where are my fucking keys?"
Stephanie turned towards her mother, pupils blown wide in fear, desperately shaking her head with a silent plea. Her mother, with her frazzled hair and bags under her eyes, gave her a small smile that did nothing to reassure her. She watched as her mother patted her apron and approached the door, a forced smile spreading across her face.
"I'm coming dear...."
The moment the door swung open, Arthur Brown burst into the room, a bottle in hand. The smell of burgundy wafted into the room, nauseating her nose. He was fuming, at what Stephanie wasn't sure but she bit her lip and kept as quiet as she could, praying he wouldn't notice her. His eyes swept across the room and landed on her.
"Well, kid? Show some manners, will ya?
She plastered on a big smile.
"Wel....Welcome home, daddy....."
He staggered forward, a hand reaching out towards her. She flinched away from his touch, expecting the worst, when a large hand clamped down on her head. He mused her hair with a chuckle.
"Good girl...."
He patted her head like a dog as he took another swig of his beer before staggering away. Stephanie made a quick sigh of relief. He whipped and chugged the bottle as he lunged towards the sofa.
"What's for dinner, woman?"
Stephanie watched as her mother fiddled with her apron nervously.
"The chicken's in the oven and I'm making mash pota...."
A piercing sound of glass shattering filled the room. Stephanie jumped out of her chair in shock as her father suddenly jump up from the couch, smashing his glass bottle against the wall. Glass shards and alcohol littered the walls and floor of their little two room apartment.
"Chicken? Chicken? I asked for roast beef?"
Arthur Brown rose to his full height, towering over his wife and waving the smashed glass bottle like a bat. The woman leaned against the wall, cowering in fear as the man shouted strings of profanities and curses at her.
Stephanie had seen enough, she dashed out of the room and ran as fast as her little legs could take her. She cowered under her bed in fear and reached for the landline.
She quickly dialled "911" as she covered her ears.
"Pick up.... pick up.... please somebody....."
"Thank you for calling 911, how can I help you?"
She let out a deep breath.
"Yes, hi... um, I need help...."
"Hi, sweetie. What's your name?"
"I'm Stephanie Brown....."
"Hi, Stephanie, how can I help you?"
"Um...."
Stephanie didn't know what to say. She was about to response when a loud crash could be heard from the next room. Stephanie flinched.
"Stephanie honey, what was that?"
"That... That's my dad.... He's drunk...."
"He's drunk... ok sweetie, I need you tell me where are you?"
Furious typing could be heard from the other line.
"I'm in my room. Under my bed...."
"You're under your bed? Ok good.... Can you give me your address?"
"Um....I dunno....it's a small apartment."
"That's alright sweetie, the GCPD are on their way. Do you think you could give me a description of your building or apartment?"
Stephanie gave the description to the best of her ability but suddenly her father burst into her room.
"Where are you, little brat?"
Stephanie hiccuped in fear. Arthur noticed and dragged her out from under the bed. He noticed the phone in her hand.
"Who are you talking to? That better not be the cops!"
He quickly snatched the phone out of her hand and crushed it with his foot. Stephanie gasped in shock. He sneered at her as he left the room.
"You better clean this up, woman! That stupid brat called the coppers!"
Stephanie peaked out of her room to see her mother frantically sweep up the glass and mop the floor, wiping her puffy red eyes with her apron.
Moments later, the GCPD showed up. Arthur Brown opened the door with a wide smile. He had sobered up a little and had even managed to groom himself.
"Officers, what's the issue?"
The GCPD looked at him unimpressed.
"Somebody called for domestic violence?"
Arthur made a big show of acting unimpressed.
"That's just my daughter. She loves making prank calls."
"We need to have a look around the house."
Arthur shrugged.
"Be my guest. I was just having a little drink after work, you know to unwind. And my wife was watching some cheesy romcom...."
Stephanie frowned, she forgot how convincing a liar her father could be, even half drunk. He was a performer after all.
The cops looked around the room. There was nothing except a couple of bottles of beer and a sniffling woman watching a romcom.
"Alright, but we still need to talk the girl who made the call."
"Of course, Stephanie...."
Steph stumbled into the room. One of the cops knelt to her eye level.
"We need to have a little chat about your call, is that alright?"
Stephanie nodded as she followed the men out.
"Why did you call the police?"
Stephanie bit her lip, unsure of what to say.
"You can't just call the police anytime you like. Your parents obviously loves you, you don't want them to go to jail right?"
Stephanie shook her head unsure of what to say. The officer patted her head.
"Alright, be a good kid."
With that, they left. Stephanie sighed, in exhaustion. She headed back inside and noticed her mum hiding in the kitchen. She peeked in curious. In her hand, she held a tiny ziplocked packet of white powder. Stephanie gasped.
"Mum?"
She bursted out in shock.
The woman turned around to face the girl, quickly hiding the packet in her pocket.
"Mum, is that...?"
"That's nothing for you to be concerned about.... Go finish your homework, alright?"
She stroked Stephanie's head before heading into the master bedroom. Stephanie sighed as she trudged back into her own room. She looked out the window and saw the bat symbol. She put her hands together and prayed that someday Batman would save her too.
