For all of the nerds that love correcting ppl like me (/j) here is the CORRECT classification of fruits, because i’m getting frustrated
Drupe - soft outer flesh, single shell with a seed inside: •cherry, peach, ALMOND (not a nut, it’s a seed from a shell inside plum-like fruit)
Bramble - many many drupelets stuck together: •RASPBERRY, BLACKBERRY (not berries)
Pome (apple-like) - like drupes, but few seeds: •apple, pear, CASHEW (again, not a nut, but a seed)
Berry - soft out layer, soft flesh, many unstructured seeds: • , blueberry, TOMATO, bananas, CACAO BEANS (at least they’re berry-like, but the info about them is confusing)
Cucurbit (pumpkins) - like berries, but the outer shell is hard and thick: •pumpkin, WATERMELON (not a berry, goddamn), CUCUMBERS TOO, eggplant
Silique - pods in a single cavity for all seeds: •pea
Bean - pods, but every seed has its own section: •beans, PEANUT (not a nut)
Nut - hard, almost wood-like outer shell, with fleshy internal part: •hazelnut, coconut, (almost every nuts you know except almonds and cashew)
Pomegranate - they are doing their own thing, so we just gave them their separate group
Citrus - there’s nothing confusing about citrus fruits and i’m too lazy to elaborate, so that’s it
YAY, I’M DONE. Mind you, it’s only botanical classification and very simplified, culinary one is kinda different.
+FRUITS ARE - things that appears after a flower is fertilised and which cover the seeds,
+VEGETABLES - edible vegetative parts (body parts, unrelated to fertilisation) like leaves, roots, stems, flowers, etc
